The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Lucknow issued a notice on Monday (August 11) to cricketer Akash Deep, directing him to cease using his newly purchased SUV on public roads due to incomplete registration formalities and missing mandatory high-security registration plate (HSRP) and third registration mark (TRM).
The notice gives the cricketer 72 hours to comply with all vehicle documentation requirements and appear before authorities.
Why has Akash Deep been issued a notice?
The vehicle was purchased on August 7, with insurance obtained on August 8, and received a fancy registration number (UP32 QW 0041) on August 9. However, the RTO discovered that the temporary registration and registration certificate process remained incomplete on the Vahan portal.
The authorities found that the vehicle lacked the mandatory HSRP and TRM installations, which violates sections 39 and 41(6) of the
Motor Vehicles Act
, 1988, and Rule 50 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
"The notice warns that driving the vehicle in its current state constitutes an offence under Section 192 of the MVA and empowers authorities to seize or detain the vehicle under Section 207."
The RTO has instructed Akash Deep to appear either personally or through an authorised representative within the specified timeframe, bringing all necessary documentation including proof of registration, insurance, and tax payment records.

The Chinhat-based automobile dealership that delivered the vehicle to Akash Deep without the required HSRP and TRM also received a show-cause notice from the RTO. The dealer has been suspended for a month until they issue an explanation in 14 days. "Legal action under Sections 192 and 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act will be initiated against the defaulting dealer."
The incident prompted the RTO to issue comprehensive instructions to all dealers in the region.
These directives emphasise that no vehicle, regardless of temporary or permanent registration status, can be delivered to customers without HSRP and TRM installations.
The dealers must ensure compliance with Form 20, 21, and 22 requirements before vehicle delivery. Additionally, they are required to update all relevant records on the Vahan portal prior to releasing vehicles to customers.

'Dream delivered. Keys received.
With the ones who matter most,' Akash Deep had posted on Instagram, sharing pictures of the car alongside his family.
Akash Deep's purchase had come just a week after the end of the India tour of England, which finished 2-2. Akash Deep played three of five matches, taking 13 wickets. His best showing came at Edgbaston, where he took 10 wickets.
What is a High Security Registration Plate (HSRP)?
Contrary to standard number plates of cars which can suffer damage easily, High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) were introduced to protect it from happening.
HSRPs are number plates that come with multiple security features like laser codes, non-removable screws, and a hologram, making them challenging to be stolen or faked.

Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 Incline Test Teased- Launch Soon?

Royal Enfield is preparing the C6 for its entry into the market, and with it, for marking its presence in the world of EVs. In line, there are multiple other products, including the HIM-e and the second product under the Flying Flea sub-brand, the S6. While the exact timeline of the launch of these products is yet to be revealed, the manufacturer has dropped a teaser for what they call an Incline Test of the C6. Shared on social media, the teaser clip had the caption saying, "The road can tell you things no blueprint ever will. We bring you Ride & Tested - where we put FF.C6 to the test. Incline Test dropping soon." It is to be noted that this is one of the initial teasers of the production version of the bike, following the showcase of the prototype of the C6. Apart from that, the EV has been spotted testing multiple times. The test mule spotted earlier provided a preview of the machine's functionality, highlighting circular LED lights that show the brand's fusion of classic and contemporary designs. True to its roots, the motorcycle features a sleek frame with an aluminum chassis and girder forks, reminiscent of classic models. Additionally, the split seat design and black alloy wheels are also noticeable. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Flying Flea (@flyingflea) The bike's aerodynamic form includes a magnesium frame that aids in managing airflow. Although the bike's specifications are not yet available, we anticipate it will offer a range of around 100 km, as it has been designed for city use. In order to fulfill its purpose, the manufacturer has focused on reducing the bike's weight, ensuring it remains under 100 kg. Beyond its visual appeal, the brand has made significant investments in the technology incorporated into the motorcycle. It can be regarded as the most advanced motorcycle produced by Royal Enfield. The bike will come equipped with a round touchscreen interface that enables various functions such as voice commands, connectivity, and more. To power these capabilities, the company has utilized Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor.

George Russell on his father's tough approach during his early days: 'I always felt I wasn't good enough for him'

George Russell's family (Image credit: Instagram) Formula 1 fans know how tough reigning champion Max Verstappen's father was in pushing him to the top. Now, George Russell has opened up about his own father's strict approach, which often left him feeling he was never good enough. The Mercedes driver revealed it took him five years to realise he was actually faster than he thought — a deliberate tactic by his father to keep him humble. George Russell on his father's training tactics George Russell is currently in fourth position in the Formula 1 Driver Standings with one win and five more podiums. Opening up about his growing-up years with F1 as his aim, Russell told Motorsport in an interview, "I always felt that I wasn't good enough for my father. When I used to do go-karting, at the time, there was no real data analysis. We didn't even have lap times on practice days. It was literally my father with a stopwatch. And I learned after about five years that he would always time me late, so my lap times looked slower than reality. He would tell me the lap times of the other drivers on practice days, and I always thought I was slow.' 'Then I got to the races and I was qualifying on pole and winning races, and I was so confused as a kid. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Earn Upto 5k Daily By This Method of Intraday Trading TradeWise Learn More Undo I'd think, 'I'm always slow on these practice days, but then I get to the races and I win. Why is that?' I realised over time that he would always do that just so I didn't get too full of myself or overly confident, and that was such an amazing, important lesson for me," he added. Russell also revealed how he would see his dad only during weekends due to his work shifts and would be upset about why he was always screaming and shouting at him during his racing practice. 'As a young kid, I was thinking, 'I don't see my father, and when I do see him, he's upset with me and I feel like I'm letting him down.' That was really tough,' he said. Confirming that he eventually realised his father's mindset and hard work behind his racing career, he said, "I can only imagine the pressure and stress he must have been under himself. Ultimately, those years from the age of seven to 13 shaped me as a person, and I have him to thank for that."
