Incest rape horror as sisters, 36 and 38, are found tied to their beds in squalid ‘private prison' house where father 'sexually abused them for a year'
The elderly man, who was not named by police in Juazeiro do Norte, in the state of Ceara, Brazil, tied the sisters to filthy mattresses surrounded by human faeces and rotting trash in a makeshift prison in his home.
Shocking police evidence photos show one daughter with her feet tied together with a makeshift hobble while the other sister is comatose on her disturbingly stained bed.
Both sisters were shockingly thin and are said to be suffering from severe malnutrition and dehydration.
They were rescued in a police raid on May 5after a tip off to police from a horrified neighbour.
Sources told police that they believed he had been abusing them for at least a year.
The sisters, aged 36 and 38, are recovering in an emergency care unit in the Limoeiro neighborhood.
Because they were hospitalised, they were unable to go through a forensic examination to investigate the alleged abuse.
Police believe their father began raping them when their mother left the house for a hospital appointment a year ago and never came back.
One neighbour said: 'I always suspected something was wrong, but we never imagined it was this horrific.'
Their dad was taken to the city's Women's Defence Police Station, where he was charged with domestic violence, mistreatment, psychological violence, and unlawful imprisonment.
He could also face rape charges once his daughters have been medically examined for signs of sexual abuse.
He reportedly told police had tied up his daughters to 'stop them falling out of their beds'.

West Mercia Police officers in Telford feared for lives in paper gun case
Two police officers say they feared they "might not be going home" after they were confronted with what appeared to be a gun while on duty. The encounter happened outside a shop one night in February when Matthew Sylvester, 37, of no fixed abode, brandished what appeared to them to be a firearm, fashioned from a brown paper bag, and threatened the officers in Telford, back on what happened, West Mercia Police's PC George Oliver said: "I'm sat in the car thinking 'I might not actually be going home tonight'."PC Dan Arthur added: "It's pretty stressful situation to be in because it's one of the few times you've thought 'I hope I make it back'." On Friday at Shrewsbury Crown Court, Sylvester was sentenced to 19 months in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, possession of an imitation firearm to cause distress, possession of Class A drugs and attempted burglary in Oliver and PC Arthur had been called to the scene in Telford after the force had reports of someone trying to break into a shop. Jon Ruben remanded into custody on child cruelty charges after children fell ill at summer camp
A man has been remanded into custody after appearing in court charged with child cruelty offences after youngsters fell ill at a summer camp. Jon Ruben, 76, appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court today following the alleged incident at a summer camp in Stathern, Leicestershire. Ruben spoke only to confirm his name, age and address. Police received a report of children feeling unwell at a camp being held at Stathern Lodge, near Melton in Leicestershire, last Sunday. Officers said paramedics attended the scene and eight boys - aged between eight and 11 - were taken to hospital as a precaution, as was an adult. They have since been discharged.
