J-Hope Makes History With Another Hot 100 Smash

J-Hope has been steadily building an impressive solo career for years now, and his latest win shows just how far he's come. The BTS member has already shown that he can make it on his own — and now, he's once again climbing the charts in America.
This week, he returns to the Hot 100 with a brand new track, and the single helps him move up on an important all-time list in the U.S. As his solo success continues, J-Hope lands among some familiar names, matching not just one, but three fellow K-pop superstars.
J-Hope is back on the Hot 100 this week with "Sweet Dreams," his new collaboration with R&B artist Miguel. The track opens at No. 66, instantly giving the rapper and dancer another major solo hit.
This latest debut brings his total number of solo appearances on the tally to six—a figure that's turned out to be especially meaningful. With that many Hot 100 placements to his credit, J-Hope ties several other South Korean solo stars for the second-most appearances in history.
Earning half a dozen hits on the Hot 100 as a K-pop soloist puts J-Hope in elite company. He now sits in second place when looking at the most Hot 100 appearances by any musician from that genre who works on their own, matching three other massive names: his BTS bandmates Jimin and V, as well as Blackpink member Jennie.
Jennie is also performing well on the Hot 100 this week, and her success is especially impressive. While J-Hope adds one new hit to his discography, Jennie earns a pair of placements thanks to her debut solo album.
The Blackpink singer appears at No. 80 with "Handlebars," a duet with pop powerhouse Dua Lipa. She also debuts at No. 83 with "Like Jennie." She increases her total number of solo Hot 100 wins in one frame, jumping from four to six. As she does, she bypasses several other K-pop stars who were previously ahead of her, and catches up to J-Hope, Jimin, and V in one swift move.
While J-Hope and Jennie now share the No. 2 spot on the list of the most successful K-pop soloists on the Hot 100, another BTS member remains in the lead. Jung Kook has now appeared on the ranking seven times with solo songs, putting him just one win ahead of the trio behind him.
Of course, all of these artists originally rose to fame as part of larger groups, and those collectives still outperform their individual members when it comes to Hot 100 success. BTS has now placed 27 tracks on the tally, while Blackpink has claimed nine.
"Sweet Dreams" doesn't just debut on the Hot 100 – it actually appears on four Billboard rankings this frame, showing that it's a true global hit. It may sit lowest on the main singles chart, but the collaboration reaches No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart. The track marks J-Hope's first time ruling that list, and it means "Sweet Dreams" is the bestselling song in America as it arrives.
The cut also performs exceptionally well outside the U.S. On the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., it launches at No. 12. On the Billboard Global 200, which includes data from every country, it starts at No. 16.

Four members of Korean band BTS to end military service next week

Four singers from the Korean band BTS will complete their compulsory service in the South Korean military next week, increasing fans' hopes that the globally popular K-Pop band will make a comeback. The Yonhap news agency reported on Saturday, citing the band's management, that members RM and V will be discharged on Tuesday and Jimin and Jungkook a day later after 18 months. For security reasons, no public event is being planned to mark the occasion, it said. In South Korea, all able-bodied men must complete 18-21 months of military service. The military service had postponed any prospect of the seven-member band reuniting. The BTS members are between their late 20s and early 30s, and two have already completed their military service. Rapper Suga is expected to complete his alternative civilian service on June 21.

BTS discharge countdown: RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook set to rejoin civilian life on June 10 and 11

SEOUL, June 7 — The wait is almost over for ARMYs around the world. RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook — four of the seven members of global K-pop juggernaut BTS — are days away from completing South Korea's mandatory military service, their agency BigHit Music confirmed. RM and V will be discharged on June 10, followed by Jimin and Jungkook on June 11. The group's eldest member, Jin, and J-Hope completed their duties last year, while Suga, who has been serving in an alternative public service programme due to health reasons, is scheduled for discharge on June 21. Fans eager to catch a glimpse of their idols have been urged to stay away from military bases due to safety concerns. In a statement, BigHit Music made it clear: 'The discharge day is reserved for military personnel only... Each location has very limited space, and overcrowding can pose safety risks.' The agency added that RM and V will appear briefly in Chuncheon, while Jimin and Jungkook will speak in Yeoncheon — but no official fan events are planned at these locations. 'We kindly request that fans avoid going to the bases,' the agency stressed. Still, excitement is building. Just two days after Jungkook and Jimin's discharge, BTS — minus Suga — will reunite for a 12th anniversary celebration at the BTS Festa on June 13 and 14 at Kintex, Goyang. The event is expected to mark the first official appearance of the group's reunited lineup in over a year. Speculation continues to swirl about a possible regrouping and world tour later this year, but so far, BigHit has made no formal announcements.

Addison Rae Introduces Herself With Debut Album ‘Addison'

Addison Rae Getty Images for Coachella In just a few short years, Addison Rae has risen from budding TikTok star to pop music's newest 'it' girl. She made a splash on the Billboard Hot 100 last year with 'Diet Pepsi' and returned to the chart for her recent single 'Headphones On." That climb has culminated in Rae's self-titled debut album Addison, out now. Though she's only a few years into her career, Rae projects the confidence of an industry veteran on the album, as evidenced by most recent single 'Fame Is a Gun," proclaiming 'There's no mystery, I'm gonna make it, gonna go down in history / Don't ask too many questions, God gave me the permission / And when you shame me, it makes me want it more.' When reflecting on her journey and where she is now in a recent cover story with Elle, Rae explained that she's reached a place in her career where she's in control of what she does. 'I have the luxury now to say no to things I'm not interested in, or that don't feel like me or aren't reflective of who I am. It's still a job, at the end of the day. Everybody is trying to survive — I'm trying to survive and live here and do all these things that I love — but I definitely have become more intentional, because I do think saying no to things opens up a door for a much better yes,' she said. Still, she isn't resting on her laurels just as she's making her big debut in the pop world. 'What does that even mean, really, to be the pop girl? Let's see if the songs get more popular, then they can call me a pop girl," she mused to Variety. 'This is my shot. I've got to go big.'
