David Tennant's 'uncomfortable' response to Neil Gaiman sexual assault claims on ITV's The Assembly

Daily Record29-04-2025

David Tennant was asked about the Neil Gaiman sexual assault allegations for the first time during his stint on ITV's The Assembly. The Scots actor, 54, was questioned by a crowd of neuro-divergent, autistic and learning disabled young people on a range of subjects from his feud with JK Rowling to a secret he has never told anyone before. During the candid interview, which had no restrictions on questions, one person asked the Doctor Who star: "Someone you worked with, a friend, has been cancelled for some quite serious allegations. How has that affected you?" Tennant, who has worked alongside plenty of later-revealed controversial stars over the years including Noel Clarke and John Barrowman, replied: "'Who are we talking about?" The person asking the question confirmed they were referring to Good Omens creator, Gaiman, who has been hit with a series of sexual assault allegations which he has vehemently denied. In the question, the interviewer claimed Good Omens had 'been stopped' as a result of the allegations against the author and Tennant used his answer to clarify that the programme would be returning for a 90-minute finale episode rather than a third season, as originally planned. The actor, who co-leads the Amazon Prime show with Michael Sheen, replied: "We're doing Good Omens again". He continued: "We're doing a finale. There's been a slight rejig with the personnel [likely referring to Gaiman exiting as executive producer]. "But we still get to tell that story which I… It would have been very difficult to leave it on a cliffhanger. So I am glad that's been worked out." The allegations against the 64-year-old author, who is also behind shows like Netflix's Sandman, first came to light in July 2024. The New York Magazine later detailed claims from eight different women including a nanny, Scarlett Pavlovich, who alleged she was assaulted in the presence of Gaiman's five-year-old son. She also claimed to have been sexually assaulted in a bathtub, referred to as Gaiman's 'slave' multiple times and alleged that he ejaculated on her face despite her saying 'no'. As for Tennant's response to how the situation affected him, there was a mixed reaction by his response. One X user, @carolyneeetc, applauded him for 'giving a proper answer'. She wrote: "He dealt with it brilliantly. Really proud of him. And thank you David for being on our side." Another fan pointed out how 'uncomfortable' David came across during the exchange. User @felisa_elisa commented: "That was the most uncomfortable I have ever seen David Tennant look. He did not appreciate that question". Other argued that the Scots star appeared to point blank ignore the actual question. User @pelloo04 remarked: "No offense but he did dodge the question here. Made no comment about Neil Gaiman or how his 'cancellation' has affected him. Not hating on David Tennant, but applauding him for sidestepping making a comment on Gaiman or his actions isn't very commendable to me." User @firlows chimed in: "Maybe it's just me but that feels like him finding a way out of answering the actual question, which was 'how has what your friend did affected you." Elsewhere in the 20-minute episode, where 'no topics is off limits', Tennant discussed his support for trans rights, his relationship with God and was also visibly moved by a live rendition of Sunshine on Leith. Several of Gaiman's shows have come or are coming to end after the allegations which have been made against him. These include Good Omens and Netflix choosing to axe Dead Boys Detective and making the final season of The Sandman the last. Meanwhile the Disney adaptation of The Graveyard Book has been paused indefinitely. The Assembly is available to stream on ITVX.

Jeremy Clarkson's partner has cheeky trick to silence him during disagreement

Lisa Hogan has been in a relationship with Jeremy Clarkson for eight years - and has figured out how to use their show, Clarkson's Farm, to stop him interrupting her Jeremy Clarkson's partner Lisa Hogan has been opening up about the subtle techniques she uses to ensure he doesn't interrupt her on camera. Former Top Gear host Jeremy, 65, has been in a relationship with 50-year-old actress Lisa since 2017. The couple have given fans an insight into their relationship thanks to the camera crews that follow Jeremy while making his hit Amazon Prime documentary series, Clarkson's Farm. The series follows the motorhead after he bought a farm in the Cotswolds and documents the trials and challenges he faces while trying to turn a profit from the investment. ‌ While Jeremy is often shown to be learning as he goes, Lisa can be seen as something of a rock for him, appearing in episodes where she gives sage advice or support as crops fail and local politicians make life on the farm difficult. ‌ As fans will know, Jeremy is reasonably opinionated, and he is not one to be known for holding back. However, it seems Lisa has devised a smart way of ensuring she can voice her own thoughts on the show without fear of being interrupted. Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, she explained: 'I've worked out that when he's wearing a mic, he can't interrupt me. So that's when I go for it.' ‌ She explained she has discovered a way to avoid arguing with him, adding: 'I'm more conniving than that. Why argue with someone like Jeremy? He's so eloquent. I have to be a bit more… nimble. I like the long-term diplomatic approach.' Lisa also gave insight into her partner's personality when the cameras are not rolling. She said: "He's always incredibly inquisitive. "His mind is always on the move. He'll come in fizzing with energy about the smallest thing. I like that. ‌ 'I used to let my son stay up to watch Top Gear, but I never really watched it myself. I knew him more from his writing. I always loved his columns. I thought he was bright – and probably amusing. And I think he thought I'd be amusing.' Lisa has long supported her man and frequently praises him during interviews. In 2023, she gushed to Lad Bible about her partner and the impact he has had on the farming community: "He's really loved, but I'm really proud of him for doing this. "And creating such a movement within agriculture, where people like I would have gone by and I wouldn't have known what a tramline is. And now I do. You just look at the country in a different way, I think." Jeremy has become an unexpected hero of the farming world after inviting cameras to document his attempts to turn his land into a viable business. He has battled adverse weather conditions that have ruined crops, and battled local council rules to open his farm shop. He has also been praised by farming communities for highlighting the industry's difficulties and giving fans an insight into the highs and lows of life in the country.

Rose West has a new granddaughter as paedo son has baby with ex glamour model

Fred and Rose West's son Stephen has welcomed a baby daughter with his fiancée Emma Bradley - but his mother, who is serving a whole life order, won't meet the little girl Rose West has become a grandmother again after her son had a baby with a former glamour model. Stephen West and his fiancée Emma Bradley have welcomed a daughter named Eden, but 71-year-old Rose, who is serving a whole life order, will never see the baby after her son cut off all ties with his evil mother. Stephen and Emma got together despite concerns raised by her family members, given he was jailed in 2004 for seven counts of underage sex with a 14-year-old girl. The 51-year-old, who grew up in his parents' house of horrors, once admitted: "There's a bit of my dad in me." His evil father, Fred West, was a serial killer who committed at least 12 murders between 1967 and 1987 - mostly with his second wife, Rose - in Gloucestershire. He was found dead in his prison cell in 1995. Stephen's mother Rose, who has already spent nearly 30 years in prison, is said to have abandoned her attempts to appeal her conviction in 2001 and is understood to be resigned to dying behind bars. Now, sources have told The Sun that Stephen and Emma are planning to tie the knot in August at the Celtic Manor hotel in Newport. However, an insider has claimed that none of Emma's relatives supports their union, saying Stephen makes them "uncomfortable" and adding this has created "a rift" in the family. Emma, a qualified nurse who works at Gloucester Royal Hospital, also has two daughters from a previous relationship. Following reports that Rose is in ill health and has been moved to a disabled room in prison "because she can barely walk," Emma said she and her partner were unaware of it as they are not in contact. While admitting that she and Stephen have watched the new Netflix documentary Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story, Emma said her fiancé "doesn't want to say anything because his main priority is the little ones." She added: "He is adamant, at this time of his life he's got a young family to protect." Stephen, who is a grandad, has been married twice before and now has eight children. Speaking about Rose's daily life in prison, a source told The Sun: "She never really leaves the wing she's held on and is escorted all the time by prison officers if she goes anywhere. Sometimes she sits in the communal areas on her own. No one talks to her because everyone knows who she is and what she did, even if she has changed her name. When I was there, she tried to make friends with the other women and gave them gifts, like vapes, but she was rejected. She likes to watch nature documentaries on the TV in her cell, especially ones about birds." In the hope of distancing herself from her evil crimes, West reportedly paid £36 to change her name to Jennifer Jones. It's understood she changed her name by deed poll in December last year and told friends it's her way of moving on. However, everyone knows her real identity at the women-only HMP New Hall near Wakefield in West Yorkshire. Some inmates spurn her attempts at friendship, and she often eats tomato soup in her cell alone for breakfast, before spending most of her time in her cell knitting and talking to the TV, because she can barely walk. West is now being held in a special unit at New Hall known as Rivendell House, where 30 prisoners each have an en-suite cell and are allocated a laptop which they can use to order food from. The communal areas are also said to be "more inviting" than other blocks in the prison, according to inspection reports.

Ncuti Gatwa reveals real reason behind Doctor Who exit as fans suspect it 'wasn't planned'

Doctor Who fans were left shocked during Saturday's night finale of the BBC show when Ncuti Gatwa left his role as the Doctor after just two series and regenerated into old fan favourite Billie Piper. Doctor Who's star Ncuti Gatwa is set to go down in the beloved sci-fi shows' 62 year history for many reasons - one of them being as one of the few actors who served the shortest time in his role as the Doctor. After just two series of the iconic drama, the Scottish-Rwandan actor shared with fans that he was stepping down from his role as the Time Lord. Ncuti cited the reason he quit was due to the physical and mental demands of the show, especially on his lead character, but fans believe his exit was not a planned one despite what the Sex Education star has told the media. The 32-year-old has now been replaced by the iconic Billie Piper, who previously starred in the BBC drama as Rose Tyler alongside former doctor Christopher Ecclestone, who only lasted one series. Piper also starred in the 2006 series with David Tennant. ‌ Ncuti recorded a video explanation for his fans after his exit was aired in the Doctor Who season 15 finale on Saturday May 31. He said: "It's a role that demands a lot of you physically and emotionally and mentally. The actors playing the Doctor are only actors playing the Doctor. Unfortunately, we are mere mortals. ‌ "I would love to have the energy and the youth to be able to do this full time for the rest of my life, but my knees are telling me it's time." ‌ However, die-hard fans believe there is another reason behind his exit, the Mirror reports. Taking to X, one fan named Mr Tardis had clearly done their research as they wrote: "In October 2024, Ncuti Gatwa was on 'The Graham Norton Show' saying he was going to be filming another series of DW next year. ‌ "In June 2025, he officially leaves the show and regenerates. This was never the plan. What a shame. He deserved so much better." Another echoed: "In situations like that, they'll often shoot two different alternative scenes: one where the series continues, and one to finish things off. "Ncuti may well have actually thought he'd be staying on back in October 2024, even after filming a regeneration scene just in case." ‌ A third fan was left disappointed with the news of his exit as they wrote: "I am so f****g sad. its one thing to see your doctor regenerate because they chose to, another to see it happen because of behind the scenes s**t. "I loved literally every episode this era. I've been defending it the whole time. this.. this kinda broke me." ‌ Adding to his exit speech, Ncuti said: "You know when you get cast, at some point, you are going to have to hand back that sonic screwdriver and it is all going to come to an end, but nothing quite prepares you for it. "This journey has been one that I will never forget and a role that will be part of me forever. He added: "There are no words to describe what it feels like to be cast as the Doctor, nor are there words to explain what it feels like to be accepted into this iconic role that has existed for over 60 years and is truly loved by so many across the globe." ‌ The former Doctor Who star continued: "The fans are truly the final character and beating heart of this show and I can't thank the Whoniverse, and the Whovians, enough for welcoming me in, and making this such a touching experience. "I've loved every minute of it, but now is the time to hand over the keys to that beloved blue box and let someone else take control and enjoy it every bit as much as I have. I'll truly miss it, and forever be grateful to it, and everyone that has played a part in my journey as the Doctor." Meanwhile showrunner Russell T. Davies also expressed his sadness over Ncuti's decision to step down. ‌ ‌ He expressed: "What a Doctor! Thank you, Ncuti! As his final words say, this has been an absolute joy, and the team in Cardiff and everyone who has worked on this show for the past few years, are so lucky to have been part of Ncuti's great adventure as he shoots off to stratospheric new heights." He added: "Billie once changed the whole of television, back in 2005, and now she's done it again! It's an honour and a hoot to welcome her back to the Tardis, but quite how and why and who is a story yet to be told. "After 62 years, the Doctor's adventures are only just beginning!" A spokesperson for Doctor Who declined to comment.
