Bettiah (Bihar) [India], July 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party MP Sanjay Jaiswal on Friday slammed Purnia MP Pappu Yadav and said that he won the election due to 'mercy' of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. The BJP MP mentioned that Pappu Yadav always became an MLA by 'looting' the ballot boxes.
'Pappu Yadav has always become an MLA by looting ballot papers from booths... He won from Purnia because of Tejashwi Yadav's mercy... If scams didn't occur during voter inspection under the biggest fraudster, Lalu Yadav, then why do they think any scam will happen now?', the BJP MP said.
Sanjay Jaiswal claimed that Tejashwi Yadav fielded Bima Bharti from the 'backwards' community for the sake to 'divert' votes and asked the people of 'all communities' to vote for Pappu Yadav.
'Tejaswi Yadav deliberately made a girl from a backwards community contest the election to divert votes, and asked people of all communities to vote for Pappu Yadav', Sanjay Jaiswal told ANI.
Furthermore, the BJP MP slammed the opposition over criticising the ECI's decision to conduct electoral revision in Bihar. Sanjay Jaiswal stated that around 7.5 crore people do not have to show their documents for the electoral revision whose parents' name is there in the voter list.
He noted that the Supreme Court of India has said that Aadhar Card is not mandatory for all purposes due to which only 70 to 80 lakh people have to show their documents for the electoral revision.

The court had invoked Article 142 to declare Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi's inaction as "illegal" and deemed 10 pending Bills as approved. President Murmu's reference challenges this verdict, raising questions on whether Governors are bound by ministerial advice and if their discretion under Article 200 is subject to judicial review. With Kerala now accusing the reference of being a "backdoor attempt" to undo settled law, the Supreme Court's upcoming decision could have far-reaching implications on Centre-state relations and the powers of constitutional authorities. ‘Linguistic terror': Mamata Banerjee alleges Bengali migrant's family beaten up by Delhi Police
Reiterating her accusation that the Bharatiya Janata Party has unleashed ' linguistic terrorism ' against Bengali speakers, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday alleged that a Bengali migrant worker's family was harassed and tortured by the police in Delhi. The chief minister shared a video on social media in which a man can be heard accusing the Delhi Police of beating his wife and infant son. 'Atrocious!! Terrible!! See how Delhi Police brutally beat up a kid and his mother, members of a migrant family from Malda's Chanchal,' Banerjee wrote. 'Even a child is not spared from the cruelty of violence in the regime of linguistic terror unleashed by the BJP in the country against the Bengalis!' It is unclear when the purported video was recorded. Banerjee's statement came on the day that the Trinamool Congress launched the 'Bhasha Andolan', a campaign against the alleged harassment of Bengali-speaking persons in BJP-ruled states. The Trinamool Congress chief had announced the protest on July 21 at the party's annual Martyrs' Day rally in Kolkata, saying that the fight to protect the Bengali language and identity would continue until the BJP was voted out. Assembly elections in West Bengal are expected to take place in March or April 2026. Her remarks also come amid Indian authorities pursuing a policy over the past month to 'push' individuals claimed to be undocumented migrants into Bangladesh. 90% Surveyed Migrants Outside Bihar Didn't Know of SIR: New Report Challenges EC's Official Line
New Delhi: A new report from the Stranded Workers Action Network (SWAN) details how Bihar's migrant workers experienced the state's recent voter roll revision, offering a perspective that differs from the Election Commission's official statements. The report follows the conclusion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), a process that flagged 64 lakh electors for potential deletion from the rolls. EC data also categorised 35 lakh voters as "migrated or untraceable." The SWAN report, ' For a Few Documents More,' surveyed 338 migrant workers between July 19 and 21, the group most likely to be affected by these classifications, to detail their awareness of and preparation for the drive. Information and awareness The survey found that little information reached Bihar's migrant workforce. According to SWAN, 90% of migrant workers currently outside Bihar had not heard of the revision. Of these workers, 75% were unaware of the EC's online portal for submitting forms, and less than 1% had used it. This left some workers uncertain. ' Aise kaise ho sakta hai ki ek form nahi bharne se vote nahi de payenge (How can it be that just by not filling one form, we won't be allowed to vote)? ' one worker asked. Another worker, Sujeet Ram, a 40-year-old from Vaishali now in Tamil Nadu, said, 'There are no jobs in Bihar, so we come here out of government should think about this. How will this work if they demand everything in such a hurry?' Documentation and process The report also examines the revision's document requirements. The survey found that 35% of all workers surveyed had none of the 11 specific documents the EC initially listed as proof of eligibility. It notes, however, that 96% of surveyed workers have an Aadhaar card and 83% have a Voter ID card, documents later ' suggested ' to be considered by the Supreme Court. The survey also shows the drive was conducted inconsistently. Among households an official visited, 29% said the official collected a form with one of the 11 required documents. Another 45% said the official collected the form with just a copy of an Aadhaar or Voter ID. The situation prompted some workers to return home. Saleem, a migrant worker in Mumbai, said he traveled back to Bihar because of the drive. "I heard in the news that people's forms were getting thrown away," he told surveyors. "My family and I cannot afford to have our names deleted from the list. That is why I came home to Bihar from Mumbai.' Report's conclusions The SWAN report states that these workers' experiences provide context for the EC's data, suggesting many of the "untraceable" voters are simply citizens working in other states. The report also includes testimonies from workers concerned about the process. One Muslim worker said, "We have to keep proving our identity. It's like refreshing a phone... Our rights should not be snatched from us." As Bihar begins a 30-day period for claims and objections over the 64 lakh flagged voters, the SWAN report concludes that the revision drive inverts the presumption of citizenship. It calls the findings a "signal of the potential threat of disenfranchising millions of people."
