Inside celebrity chef Pete Evans' rapid downfall
The 52-year-old chef and former My Kitchen Rules judge told American doctor Will Cole about how he went from being 'celebrated and adored' to being hated by Australia.
Evans said the hate started after he discovered and began advocating the paleo diet — also known as the caveman diet, based on the idea of eating foods that were available to hunter-gatherers during the Paleolithic era.
'Up until that time, I was celebrated, adored by the Australian media and public until I started talking about paleo, ancestral diets', he told Dr Cole on his podcast The Art of Being Well.
'I was attacked straight away. It was bizarre, I was like, why is this so challenging, triggering, why is this happening, because I started sharing anecdotal stories of people improving their health who had adopted this way of life.
The Melbourne-born chef said he was labelled by the media and health experts as 'crazy and dangerous'.
'Dietitians would say this is completely unfounded, dangerous, he's not a doctor, he's just a chef, even though the information I was sharing was from doctors,' he said.

The controversial wellness advocate said Australians had been 'brainwashed' by dietitians promoting dietary guidelines on the 'morning news'.
As a result, he has to settle for getting his message and way of life out to the public through podcasting.
Evans was aware his beliefs would be 'rejected', but didn't want to force it on people.
Evans also set the record straight on the fact he is 'not opposed to modern technology in medicine at all'.

In November that year, he was engulfed in further controversy after posting a cartoon on Instagram featuring a nazi 'black sun' symbol. He lost 15 business partnerships as a result of the post.
Evans continues to spark debate over his non-traditional lifestyle of a mainly carnivorous diet, experience with plant medicines and using psychedelics as a way of therapy.
Before COVID-19, a pandemic he called a hoax and questioned the effects of masks and social distancing, Evans filmed his documentary, The Magic Pill, which sees doctors, farmers and chefs weigh in on the ketogenic diet and its potential to eradicate illness.
The Australian Medical Association at the time campaigned for it to be removed from Netflix for spreading 'dangerous' messaging about health.
Evans is currently on holiday in the US and will next visit Salt Lake City.

Fisher previously called her divorce the 'most difficult thing' she's been through, but insisted at the time that she and the Borat star remained focused on their children. She told The Sunday Times newspaper: 'I've learned so much about myself in the process. I never imagined my family being separated, but we are committed and loving parents ... 'Kids are the most important thing, and you want them to really feel safe and loved. We are building a new, healthy version of what our family looks like and putting as much care and love into it as possible.'

Netflix's Yosemite series Untamed is really at home in Canada
You don't have to go to America to see the sights of Yosemite National Park — and you don't have to take my word for it. The current Netflix hit series Untamed, starring Eric Bana and Sam Neill, makes much of telling its story in Yosemite. The key piece of action, around which the whole series hinges, takes place on the distinctive El Capitan granite mountain face. But it doesn't. Untamed was filmed in Canada, and the El Capitan in the series is actually Mount Seymour, in Mount Seymour Provincial Park in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Part of the North Shore Mountains, it rises to 1449m above the Indian River. Canada is a complete alternative for those considering touring the national parks of the US. THE STORY Untamed, a six-episode series, was released on July 17 and quickly racked up almost 25 million views, rising to No.1 on the Netflix TV charts for English-language shows. Co-written by Mark L Smith and Elle Smith, it's a mystery-thriller following Kyle Turner (played by Eric Bana), who is a special agent for the National Parks Service, based in Yosemite National Park. He sets out to investigate the death of a young woman who falls from El Capitan, getting caught in the ropes of two young climbers on the granite face. His investigation starts to reveal the dark secrets of the national the park, and in his own past. THE LOCATIONS It has been revealed that the log cabin in which special agent Kyle Turner lives isn't in Yosemite, but in Murdo Frazer Park, again, in North Vancouver Canada. Many of the snow scenes were filmed in Whistler Olympic Park. In the series, some of the action is set at 'Grouse Lake in Yosemite National Park', but this is Grace Lake, in British Columbia. It is close to Vancouver — just take Highway 7 to Harrison Mills, turn left into Morris Valley Road and drive 11km and turn into Sts/Ailes Forest Service Road and you'll find Grace Lake Recreation Site, where camping is CAD $25 ($28). The forested trails of North Vancouver's Greenwood Park provide good locations for the series. Greenwood Park and Kealy Woods Park are in the upper Grand Boulevard neighbourhood of Vancouver, with dramatic bluffs, bedrock outcrops. There's a network of trails through both parks, making them very popular. The Green Necklace greenway (a 7.5km scenic loop), extends north into Greenwood Park and also attracts visitors to the area. There's a quarry in Greenwood Park that is popular with locals for bouldering. Kyle Turner's investigation, with forest ranger Naya Vasquez (Lily Santiago) alongside, leads to a squatter camp, which was filmed in Deroche. It is an 'unincorporated community' of growers at the foot of Nicomen Mountain in Fraser Valley, southwestern British Columbia. There are a number of river gorge hiking scenes in Untamed, and some of these were filmed on Cheakamus River, with rapids and big fir and cedar trees. The river is a tributary of the Squamish River, and scenes were also shot at the Balls To The Wall waterfall, which is famous with whitewater kayakers. Hulk Hogan didn't meet his grandchildren prior to his death
Hulk Hogan never met his grandchildren before his death. The wrestling legend passed away aged 71 last month after suffering a heart attack at his home in Florida and his son-in-law Steven Oleksy has revealed that Hulk showed "no interest" in meeting his estranged daughter Brooke's twins Oliver Andrew and Molly Gene when approached following their births in January. Former NHL player Oleksy told People: "I sent text messages once again to kind of gauge where he was at, but there was no interest." Oleksy explained how he and Brooke moved from Michigan to Florida to be closer to Hulk - whose real name was Terry Bollea - as he "was getting older" and suffering with his health. He said: "She was there for every surgery leading up to the last two years. She would fly down on her own dime, take care of her dad, and it just made a lot of sense. "No one understood his body, procedures, medications and everything else more than my wife." Oleksy explained that the family will remain in Florida following the WWE icon's passing as the state has grown to feel like "home" for them. The ex-ice hockey star said: "We've built a beautiful life here together." Brooke, 37, posted a lengthy tribute to her father on Instagram earlier this week and used her post to "clear a few things up" regarding the pair's estrangement. The realty star wrote: "It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand. My father was confiding in me about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business. I offered to be a life raft in whatever capacity he needed. I told him he had my support. I begged him to rest, to take care of himself." Brooke - Hulk's eldest child from his marriage to first wife Linda Hogan - added: "We had been through almost 25 surgeries together, and then all of a sudden he didn't want me at surgeries…everything started getting covered in a thick veil. It was like there was a force field around him that I couldn't get through. (sic)" She explained how the pair's relationship ultimately collapsed due to a series of "respectful disagreements". Brooke said: "He was telling me these things, being so vulnerable with me and heard my pleas, then suddenly something shifted, and he made a choice to walk the path that clearly tore at his spirit. I felt a disconnect. What followed were respectful disagreements that took an emotional toll on me."
