Porsche has partnered with RM Sotheby's to auction a rare and highly sought-after Porsche 911 S/T, with all proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross to support wildfire relief efforts in California.
The car up for auction is number 1,919 of the 1,963 vehicles built to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Porsche 911. It is the only 911 S/T to be sold from PCNA's internal vehicle pool and represents the final unassigned example available in the United States. The auction will be held exclusively on RM Sotheby's online platform.
'The work of the American Red Cross has become even more critical as wildfires devastate communities across California,' said Timo Resch, President and CEO of PCNA. 'By offering such a significant and rare vehicle, we hope to provide meaningful support to those affected.'
Since the fires began, the American Red Cross has provided over 14,500 overnight shelter stays, 128,000 meals, and more than 102,000 relief supplies, including face masks, flashlights, and water, to those in need.
Adding to the exclusivity of the auction, the winning bidder will receive a Porsche Design 911 S/T chronograph, a collector's timepiece typically reserved for 911 S/T owners. The watch will feature an engraved chassis number matching the vehicle. Additionally, the package includes an owner's manual pouch signed by Andreas Preuninger, Director of Porsche's GT model line.
The 911 S/T is finished in Shore Blue Metallic with a Ceramica-colored wheel set, featuring heritage-inspired design elements and a 518-horsepower, naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The vehicle also comes with the Heritage Design Package, Full Bucket Seats in Classic Cognac with black pinstripes, and exclusive Porsche Manufaktur touches.

New Porsche Hypercar Teased as Modern 911 GT1 Successor

In a black-and-white YouTube video hashtagged #RACEBORN, Porsche has teased its upcoming 963 RSP, a one-off road-going version of the LMDh racecar that won races in WEC and IMSA. Back in April, Porsche hinted at an upcoming street-legal hypercar by highlighting its 1975 917 race car, which was also converted for street use. Now we know that the imminent reveal will be of the road-legal version of the 2023 963 endurance racer that won twice at the 24 Hours of Daytona. The 963 RSP is presumed to be built for Roger Seale Penske - hence the "RSP" moniker that's never been used on a Porsche before. Penske owns the team that runs Porsche's factory endurance-racing program, and is the most successful team owner in motor-racing history, winning four out of five championships in 2024 alone in the FIA WEC and IMSA seasons. The car is expected to stay true to the racer, with the same twin-turbocharged 4.6-liter V8, hybrid system, and seven-speed sequential transmission. Porsche has done this before when it handcrafted a single road-legal example of the 1996 911 GT1 Le Mans racer that competed in the GT1 class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans - which it called the 911 GT1 Strassenversion. The 963 RSP is similarly handcrafted, and in Porsche's teaser video, Porsche workers sand down carbon-fiber panels, mix paint, do interior stitchwork, and generally apply their specialist trades to finish the one-of-one masterpiece. With the teasers now starting, it won't be long before one of the most covetable Porsches of the modern era is revealed to the world. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Wayne Gretzky's 2006 Ford GT Is up for Auction on Bring a Trailer

A first-gen Ford GT is already desirable, and this one has celebrity provenance. With a supercharged V-8 and a manual transmission, this era of Ford GT is more old-school than the high-tech 2020s edition. This car has ultralow mileage and is a Heritage Edition with great livery. How much value celebrity ownership adds to a car can vary wildly (see: Jon Voight's Chrysler LeBaron from that Seinfeld episode). But park a supercharged-V8 Ford GT in an ice rink and you're going to get a lot more attention than the post-second-period Zamboni. The photo location highlights the fact that this 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition on Bring a Trailer (which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos) was once owned by hockey's Great One: Wayne Gretzky. Gulf-racing orange over pale blue, an homage to the GT40s that raced and won at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, really works on this era of Ford GT. And those "99" racing decals are an obvious reference to Gretzky's longtime jersey number. Although the later, second-generation Ford GT is a technical tour de force, this first generation provides a closer experience of what driving around in a GT40 actually feels like. As such, values have been skyrocketing of late, so you might as well go for one with a great history and cool colors. It also helps that this example has just 1200 miles on the odometer. Powered by a mid-mounted 5.4-liter V-8 fitted with a supercharger, the GT packs a still-respectable 550 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. Those twin exhausts emit a roar like a hometown crowd celebrating an overtime-winning goal when you goose the throttle. Add in a six-speed manual and a limited-slip diff out back, and this is some old-time rock 'em sock 'em performance. Speaking of performance, while Gretzky made his name as a playmaker and goal scorer, the GT finishes its checks like his old teammate and enforcer Dave Semenko. As tested by Car and Driver back when it was new, the 2006 Ford GT clocked off a 3.3-second 0-to-60-mph run, leaving a Ferrari 430 Challenge Stradale and a Porsche 911 GT3 in its dust. It pulled nearly 1.0 g on the skidpad, had fade-free brakes, and generally knocked the European competition off their skates. It's a bruiser. Not to the driver though. The GT comes with air conditioning and a CD player. The ride is pretty firm, but beyond that, there is no excuse for only having 1200 miles on the odometer. As number 99 famously said, "You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take." So get in there and place your bid. Don't leave this Ford GT on ice. The auction ends on June 6. VW's Wolfsburg plant may move to four-day week from 2027, works council says

Reuters Tue, Jun 3, 2025, 6:40 AM 2 min read In This Article: VWAPY -0.84% (Corrects paragraph 6 to show that statistics refer to Golf production globally, not only in Wolfsburg) BERLIN (Reuters) - Volkswagen's restructuring of its Wolfsburg plant from 2027 to make way for EV-only production could result in a temporary four-day working week at the plant, works council chief Daniela Cavallo told workers on Tuesday. Cavallo, a central figure in negotiations with management last year over cost cuts, said unions had agreed minimum capacity utilisation for the transition period, but urged workers to take extra shifts in the run-up to compensate for the likelihood of fewer working hours in years to come. "We have to make provisions now so that we can draw on them later ... From 2027 onwards, a temporary four-day week is not an unreasonable scenario," Cavallo said. Volkswagen's deal struck with unions last December to cut costs in Germany included moving production of the combustion engine Golf from Wolfsburg to Mexico from 2027, prompting concern among some employees at the carmaker's headquarters over the future of the plant. Cavallo sought to assure workers on Tuesday that the plant's future was in safer hands via plans to produce the electric Golf, as well as a successor to its T-Roc compact SUV, by the end of the decade, pointing to the steady decline in demand for the combustion engine version of the iconic VW car. Golf production globally, most of which was concentrated in Wolfsburg, has declined from over a million in 2015 to just over 300,000 in 2024, a graph compiled by the works council and seen by Reuters showed, with just 250,000 cars forecast for this year. "The trend is an unstoppable decline ... the Golf must go to Mexico! Sooner or later. Otherwise, our plant will eventually find itself at the bottom of these statistics I just showed," Cavallo said, according to comments published on the company intranet and seen by Reuters.
