A decade after its release, a hidden horror gem starring Daniel Radcliffe and Sabrina Carpenter is finally getting the appreciation it deserves – and it's about to be available to stream for free.
Horns, a genre-bending 2014 horror-fantasy, sees Radcliffe step far from the Hogwarts universe and into far darker territory.
Based on the best-selling 2010 novel by Joe Hill (son of Stephen King), the film follows Ig Perrish, a man accused of brutally murdering his girlfriend, Merrin.
After waking up one morning to find horns sprouting from his forehead – and with them, the disturbing ability to compel people to confess their darkest secret – Ig sets out to solve the murder himself.
Directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Crawl), Horns blends horror, dark comedy, supernatural fantasy, and psychological suspense.
While the film received mixed reviews upon release, it has since gained cult status among horror fans.
The cast features Ted Lasso's Juno Temple as the adult Merrin Williams, with a younger version of the character played by pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter.
Max Minghella (The Handmaid's Tale) plays Ig's childhood friend Lee Tourneau, in a role that deepens the mystery at the heart of the story.
Fans on IMDb have praised the movie's originality, with one reviewer calling it 'an underdog movie' that combines 'horror, fantasy, and drama' with 'psychological suspense.' More Trending
Another wrote: 'I've watched a lot of movies in my 69 years on this planet, lol, and I have to tell you—I was glued to my seat watching this one.'
Despite its initially lukewarm reception, the film has steadily attracted a following for its unusual premise and its exploration of themes like guilt, vengeance, and transformation.
Lucky for fans of unusual cinema, Horns will be streaming for free on Pluto TV starting Monday, July 21, giving new audiences a chance to experience the twisted, touching, and at times darkly funny tale for themselves.
So whether you're a horror buff, a Daniel Radcliffe completist, or just in the mood for something wildly original, Horns might be the dark horse film you've been missing.

Amazon Prime's new 'ridiculously stupid' action comedy attacked by fans

The latest film to hit streaming platform Amazon Prime Video has received a rocky reception from critics and fans alike, despite starring a true Hollywood heavyweight. Described as 'an embarrassing, ridiculous waste of time' and 'unadulterated garbage', the buddy comedy and action heist movie will have had lofty goals in mind with its cast. Starring Oscar-nominated movie icon Eddie Murphy and former Saturday Night Live breakout Pete Davidson, The Pickup follows their mismatched armoured truck driver characters after they're ambushed while on shift by criminals led by a savvy mastermind, Zoe (Keke Palmer). But Zoe's plans go way beyond the cash cargo Russell and Travis are carrying, and the unlikely duo is forced to navigate the chaos and high-risk danger as their very bad day keeps getting worse. The action flick was released on Prime Video yesterday for fans just two days after critics were able to deliver their verdict – which was overwhelmingly unimpressed to say the least, with one review describing it as 'one of the year's worst movies'. On review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, The Pickup has a miserable 33% score from critics – and while fans have been more generous, it's still a rotten reaction from then with a limp, and still officially rotten, 47%. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'I like Eddie Murphy, but why does he always choose the worst movies to star in?' asked disappointed viewer Michael G on the platform, while Commin C wrote next to their half-star reaction: 'I don't know how this movie got rated so highly. Yes, this score is high for this movie.' 'Ridiculously stupid and painful to watch. I had to stop,' complained Cork B. 'That Eddie Murphy went along with this was a shame. While he has made some stinkers in his time, this is for sure near the top.' 'Five minutes in and I'm outta here,' agreed Peter M after giving up on The Pickup, while David F decided to address the Beverly Hills cop star directly, insisting: 'Eddie you are better than this. Stop taking the streaming pay checks and get back to theatrical releases with real comedy writer.' Another fan noted that it was the second recent Amazon movie she'd had 'a hard time getting through and will probably abandon' after Heads of State. Lis W added: 'I don't get Eddie Murphy. Is he just churning out movies for the studio and taking the money, and not caring about his filmography reputation?' 'So tired of this garbage. Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson, the writing, the acting, the story = just plain awful. Baffling that these movies get made. Even odder is that positive reviews exist,' chimed in Drew D. But some fans were still delighted indeed, with Adam R enthusing: 'A comedy masterpiece! I laughed out loud on repeat. Job well done to everyone: director, actors, writers! Do yourself a favour and watch this movie.' Another viewer, Lindsey V, even claimed it was 'the best Eddie movie I have seen in ages'. It currently sits at the top of Prime Video's streaming charts in the UK as the number one film and also the number three title overall. However, critics strongly disagreed, with The Guardian's Andrew Laurence branding The Pickup 'heinous' and 'worse than Norbit', often considered the nadir of Murphy's career. 'The Pickup is easily the worst Eddie Murphy movie in recent memory. That's right: worse than A Thousand Words, the Liar Liar rip-off so underwhelming that Murphy had to take a break from making comedies. And worse than Norbit, the Nutty Professor ersatz probably costing him the Oscar for Dreamgirls,' he wrote in a one-star review. 'It is as generic and forgettable as its title suggests: a bland action-comedy that will surely end up being one of the year's worst movies, if only for the egregious way it squanders its talented cast,' agreed Christy Lemire for in a similarly scored review. 'In a movie with Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson, and Keke Palmer, I laughed the hardest at snap-zooms. That's a problem – for some, probably an unforgivable one,' admitted ScreenRant's Alex Harrison. Meanwhile, The Upcoming dammed the film with faint praise, writing: 'The Pickup is not the worst film that either Murphy or Davidson has starred in. However, it may be their most unremarkable.' More Trending Murphy's last film attracted millions of views for Netflix after he starred in a continuation of one of his most popular franchises with Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, while he previously attracted critical acclaim for 2019's Dolemite Is My Name, landing a Golden Globe nomination. He has also recently thrilled fans with the announcement that he will be reprising his beloved voice acting role of Donkey in Shrek 5 as well as a spin-off movie focused on the sidekick character and his dragon wife. The Pickup is streaming exclusively now on Prime Video. Got a story? Mariah Carey just had the best response to learning Katy Perry went to space

Mariah Carey just learned that Katy Perry went to space – and it was frankly iconic. 'Would you fancy going to space?' Scott Mills asked the pop sensation and certifiable Queen of Christmas in an interview for BBC Radio 2. 'You know, like Katy Perry did?' A fairly innocuous question, seeing as everyone in the world was aware of the Dark Horse's controversial and heavily criticised all-female Blue Origin 10-minute space trip to the Kármán line – well, not everyone. 'Did she go to space?' asked Mariah, seemingly genuinely confused. 'Mmhmm,' Scott said with a nod. 'Not for long. I think it was…' 'Where did she go?' said Mariah looking around at the crew and seemingly absolutely baffled, perhaps assuming she went to the moon or to a space station. A crewmember informed her that she 'just went into orbit and back'. 'She's like floating in the…And this is true?' she said seeming more baffled than ever. Scott confirmed he had not made it up the news. 'Wow,' she said in a completely unenthused tone. 'Alright Katy,' she added, seeming completely unimpressed. 'I'm not mad at her, that's pretty amazing,' she added. The real question is of course, does Mariah see herself going to space one day? 'I think I've done enough,' she said with a laugh. Fair enough! Video footage showed Katy holding a flower and gazing into the camera while floating around the cabin. After landing on Earth, she held the daisy to the sky and then kissed the ground. 'Superb' BBC drama fans say is 'as good as it gets' is finally coming to iPlayer

The three-part drama from Stephen Poliakoff boasts an all-star cast including late actor Michael Gambon and Succession's Matthew MacFadyen. A 'riveting' British drama featuring a 'terrific' cast, including Succession star Matthew MacFadyen and the late Harry Potter star Michael Gambon, is set to grace BBC iPlayer. ‌ The 2001 mini-series Perfect Strangers, which snagged a BAFTA nomination for Best Drama Serial upon its release, is a three-part drama penned by the esteemed playwright Stephen Poliakoff. ‌ The series delves into the tumultuous events of a distant family reunion, where buried secrets threaten to unravel the family fabric. ‌ The official synopsis states: "Daniel's family reunion event proves to be a catalyst for the unravelling of secrets and passions buried deep within the family history." Critics and viewers alike have lauded the show as "a masterpiece" attributing its success to the stellar cast and Poliakoff's distinctive narrative approach, reports the Express. ‌ On IMDb, a viewer praised: "Perfect. This is one of the best TV productions of the last ten years. It is being screened on BBC4 as part of the Poliakoff season, and it's a complete delight to see again. The whole cast is terrific. I could watch Gambon just standing in a bus queue. "Poliakoff himself says - a little diffidently - that he wants to make television that people remember. I expect most directors do, but few succeed. I have remembered stills, scenes, even expressions from this drama after five years." Another reviewer commented: "Superb, riveting drama for a wet weekend," while yet another added: "Subtle and heartwarming family drama." ‌ They enthused: "There's a lot to like about this excellent British drama. The story about the relationships between the members of a family, may seem a bit too simple, and the lack of big surprises may disappoint some people, but anyone who takes a closer look, will discover a rich, subtle, heartwarming family drama that offers very authentic, original characters and more emotions and reality than any soap opera will ever do. "Stephen Poliakoff's direction is impeccable, the casting is truly perfect (even for the smallest roles), the actors never less than wonderful. The beautiful music supports the dramatic events in a way that 'Perfect Strangers' will be in your head for several days. An absolute masterpiece." ‌ Another review hailed the show with the words: "As Good As It Gets," as the fan elaborated: "This drama is 4+ hours long but it held us in its power throughout. "It was not originally intended to be seen all in one day, of course, but is so gripping that if you have it all you'll want to see it all." Highlighting the cast, they added: "Some of Britain's finest stage and TV talent was gathered for this - the BBC must have known they were on to a good thing when they saw the script - and that talent is deployed masterfully." One more admirer declared: "What can I say, Perfect Strangers is brilliant. I think that Stephen Poliakoff has created a masterpiece here. "Not only is the story line excellent, but the choice of cast is wonderful. I was hooked from the very first episode and cannot wait for the final episode in two days. It makes a nice change to have such a brilliant and enchanting program on TV."
