Soap spoilers for next week - EastEnders car crash and Corrie icon returns

Daily Mirror24-05-2025

Soap spoilers for next week tease huge moments ahead across EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street including a wedding, a horror crash and the return of a soap favourite
The soaps are lining up some huge moments next week, including a stunt, a format change and an icon returning.
It's a massive week for Emmerdale as a wedding sees "nightmare" scenes for John Sugden, with more than one dark secret possibly coming to light. With episodes airing slightly different in this week, anything is possible.

Over on EastEnders and there's yet another big stunt being lined up, the third in a matter of months. A huge week will see a car crash into a lake leaving lives in danger, with fans convinced they know who already.

In the fallout to a massive week for Coronation Street, with the death of Craig Tinker and the arrest of villain Mick Michaelis, next week sees a familiar face back on screens for the first time in nine years. Ryan Thomas will reprise the role of Jason Grimshaw in episodes airing next week, after his exit in 2016.
So there's drama, danger, and stunt next week as well as plenty of twists and turns...

EastEnders car crash as victims 'sealed'
The BBC soap will air a car crash according to new spoilers, as recently teased in a trailer on social media. Nothing was given away then about who is caught up in the crash.
But now, amid a possible bombshell, new spoilers may have let slip who could be in serious danger. It's not known if anyone dies in the crash, and who exactly is injured.
That said, new teasers have revealed a number of characters are in cars ahead of the incident. One of the cars ends up going over a bridge and into the water below, with the fallout kept completely under wraps.

Post-accident there's very little spoiler information being shared, so viewers will have to tune in all of next week to find out what exactly goes down and who lives - and if anyone dies. It all kicks off when Harry Mitchell confesses to dad Teddy Mitchell that Barney is not his son.
As Nicola Mitchell does her best to deny the accusation to husband Teddy she's forced to admit everything leading to a painful confrontation with her husband, with Zack Hudson outed as Barney's real dad. Harry who takes action though, as he bundles Zack into his car boot before speeding out of Walford.
Teddy fears his won will go too far and when he spots his brother Billy Mitchell taking Honey and Nigel to the cinema, he intercepts them. He begs them to follow Harry to save Zack before it's too late. Soon, one of the cars veer off the road and falls into a lake - but which car is it, and who is in danger?

Emmerdale wedding nightmare
It's the big wedding of John Sugden and Aaron Dingle next week, with a format shake-up and the possible truth about two big twists. John is left in a panic when he realises the lake is being dredged and his ex Aidan Moore has woken from his coma.
It seems there's more to be told about what led to Aidan being in a coma for years, with it believed he would never regain consciousness. But next week it's confirmed that he's awake, and soon John is fearful Aidan will expose his lies and the truth about their past.

Viewers know John killed Nate Robinson last September and no one in the village knows. That could be about to change though, as with the lake needing clearing and Nate's body being in said lake surely it's only a matter of time before the murder is finally exposed.
With that and Aidan and Aaron having jitters, will the big day go ahead? Will they even make it to the vows? Viewers will be treated to multiple outcomes before seeing what actually happens, with each episode next week forming the same day. We will see John's fears come to life before finding out whether or not the pair get married.
Coronation Street icon returns

There's the return of Jason Grimshaw next week, as actor Ryan Thomas steps back onto the cobbles for the first time in nine years. His mother Eileen Grimshaw is still struggling after the death of her sister Julie Carp, with Eileen facing trouble after it's revealed the drugs found in Julie's system were the painkillers prescribed for her, not Julie.
A remark from Brian who has already accused Eileen of helping Julie to die leaves her snapping and banning him from the funeral. George Shuttleworth tries to support his partner but feels shut out.
Later in the week the day of Julie's funeral arrives, and Eileen gives Brian a letter from Julie. This leads to him confronting her over Julie's life insurance policy, pointing out that she's the only beneficiary yet failed to mention it.
Tracy Barlow pipes up and accuses Eileen of orchestrating her sister's death for the money, but it's George Eileen turns on as she blames him for the funeral being ruined. As things take a turn Jason shows up, with an emotional Eileen rushing over to embrace her son.

Fife neighbours scoop cash jackpot on BBC quiz show Bridge of Lies

A team of neighbours from a Fife town has won the cash jackpot on the hit BBC quiz show Bridge of Lies. The team of four from Coaltown of Wemyss, scooped the £4,575 prize money in a nail-biting finale on Wednesday. The contestants included former Courier reporter Craig Smith and his wife, Lyndsey, along with neighbours, Nicola Forrest and Kenny Rodger. Contestants compete against the clock using their general knowledge, strategic skills, and often luck, to spot correct answers as well as lies in order to cross the bridge. The prize money mounts up depending on the number of players who successfully make it across. The contestants then team up to take on the 'final crossing' challenge. If they successfully make it across by answering a series of questions correctly, they win the prize money accumulated during the show. The quiz is hosted by actor Ross Kemp, famous for his role as Grant Mitchell in Eastenders. Tackling questions on subjects including holidays, theatre, names and the Stephen Spielberg films, all four made it across the bridge. This allowed them to go for the £4,575 prize pot working as a team to navigate across the bridge. With two of the team already out before completing the task, it was Lyndsey's turn to face the final question. And it was an agonising few seconds before host, Kemp, revealed that she was correct and they had scooped the prize money. The four hugged and cheered as they were congratulated by Kemp before revealing they would use the money on a group holiday ot Turkey. Speaking after the show was broadcast, Craig said he'd always wanted to be a contestant on a TV quiz show. He said: 'I applied initially one night, probably after a bottle of wine, thinking it wouldn't go anywhere but they gave us a call back and it went from there really. 'I've always liked the show as it's usually on around teatime in the background, and you end up just shouting at the screen. 'So I thought 'why not give it a go?' The 43-year-old former Courier reporter said he couldn't believe it when he found out his application had been successful. He added: 'It was filmed last September, so it's been around nine months to wait for it to come on. 'We had a brilliant time at the studios in Glasgow, and Ross Kemp is a really nice guy as well. 'We were last on the day to film, so it went on until about 8pm. 'None of us could watch it go out live, so we all gathered together to watch it on iPlayer with a wee glass of fizz to celebrate.' Craig said that the money had been put towards a holiday in Turkey in July for the team as well as several other Coaltown of Wemyss neighbours. The episode of Brdge of Lies is available to watch now on BBC iplayer.

Fresh upset for Yolande and Patrick in EastEnders as relationship hits crisis

Patrick and Yolande Trueman's relationship hits the rocks (Picture: BBC) The relationship between Patrick (Rudolph Walker) and Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) comes under pressure after cracks emerge in next week's EastEnders. Walford icons Patrick and Yolande have weathered much over the course of their decades-long romance, first tying the knot during a small ceremony in 2004. The pair split in 2008, after Yolande was offered a job in Birmingham – leaving behind Patrick, who was reluctant to walk away from his home in Walford. The pair subsequently finalised their divorce, but were unable to let each other go. After an affair in 2023, Patrick realised that Yolande was his one true love, and beseeched her to stay on Albert Square with him. Since then, Yolande and Patrick have had to contend with her sexual assault at the hands of Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler), as a devastated Patrick attempted to remain supportive and by her side throughout. However, they were both left profoundly changed by the experience – not to mention Clayton's decision to take his own life when confronted with the consequences – and their relationship continues to reckon with the aftermath to this day. Patrick's been acting distant recently (Picture: BBC) As the week begins, Yolande feels hurt when Patrick makes excuses to get out of giving her a massage. Later, Yolande opens up to Denise about the state of her relationship with Patrick. She tells her how she fears that things will never be the same between them again. Torn, Denise tries to support Yolande and Patrick through their relationship crisis. With Yolande questioning their future, Patrick fights for her by making a grand gesture. But will it work? Can Patrick and Yolande save their relationship? (Picture: BBC) Yolande first arrived in Walford in 2003, having met Patrick while he was on holiday in Trinidad. Yolande left her husband at the time, Victor Duke, for Patrick – with Patrick even turning down a £10,000 offer from Victor to end their affair and return his wife to Trinidad. Ten months after her arrival on Albert Square, she and Patrick were married, and managed several businesses together – including The Minute Mart and Bed and Breakfast. Patrick and Yolande were married in 2004 (Picture: BBC) Their marriage hit the rocks in 2008, when she accepted a job without him in Birmingham, and their divorce was finalised a year later. Yolande briefly returned to the soap in 2017, paying a visit to Patrick as he celebrated his birthday. By 2023, the pair were having a fully-fledged affair behind her new partner Anton's back. Realising that Yolande was his one true love, Patrick fought for Yolande, and managed to convince her to return home. Patrick supported Yolande in after her experience with Pastor Clayton (Picture: BBC) Patrick and Yolande are one of EastEnders' most beloved soap couples, and the warmth of that relationship extends behind the scenes, to actors Rudolph and Angela. Of her screen partnership with Rudolph, Angela said: 'I feel very comfortable with Rudolph – he's my brother, my friend, my uncle, he's everybody! 'There's a bit of every relative I have in him. We've known each other for so many years. 'I played his maid first when I was a young girl in a play, then I played his daughter in a TV movie, and then I came to play his girlfriend and then wife at EastEnders. 'It's a long relationship of love and respect, and I could play any character with him. There is a deep friendship between us; we trust each other and have each other's back. It's all very natural with him.' If you've got a soap or TV story, video or pictures get in touch by emailing us soaps@ – we'd love to hear from you.
