Mansour bin Zayed attends Abu Dhabi Summer Sports
ABU DHABI (WAM) His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, on Wednesday, attended the Abu Dhabi Summer Sports (ADSS), organised by ADNEC Group and Abu Dhabi Sports Council at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed met with the organisers and was briefed on the sports programmes and diverse activities featured at Abu Dhabi Summer Sports, which include individual and team sports as well as family- and child-oriented events, offering a comprehensive experience that caters to all segments of society.His Highness toured the venue's key facilities, which comprise the largest setup of its kind in the region, covering more than 37,000 square metres. The event includes over 52 enclosed and air-conditioned courts and pitches for more than 12 team sports, all built to the highest international standards, in addition to a 1.2-kilometre indoor running track.His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed also participated in a friendly volleyball match alongside athletes from the community, reflecting his commitment to direct engagement with community initiatives and supporting sports activity during the summer season.His Highness praised the level of organisation and the event's role in creating an inclusive sports environment that encourages healthy and active lifestyles, especially during summer.
His Highness also highlighted the importance of initiatives that enhance quality of life by providing opportunities for people of all ages to practise sports in safe and suitable settings.

PARIS, 18th July, 2025 (WAM) -- Producing one of the finest displays of his career, UAE Team Emirates-XRG's Tadej Pogačar put his rivals to the sword on the Hautacam, winning stage 12 of the Tour de France and reclaiming the Yellow Jersey. Putting more than two minutes into the next-best rider, Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike), Pogačar now leads the Tour de France by three and a half minutes. On the first summit finish of the race, Pogačar and his UAE Team Emirates-XRG colleagues produced a vintage show of teamwork, with every rider stepping up to the mark to help the Slovenian pick up his 20th stage victory at the Tour de France. In doing so, the Emirati squad put their rivals on the back foot and ensured that Pogačar is now the man to beat heading into the final nine stages. With his all-conquering efforts on Hautacam, Pogačar made history by becoming the first reigning world champion to win a Tour de France summit finish since the great Bernard Hinault in 1981. Coming less than 24 hours after the tragic death of the promising Hagens Berman Jayco rider, Samuele Privitera, Pogačar dedicated his victory to the young Italian who sadly passed away after a crash at the Valle d'Aosta.

Fifth Spartan World Championship to begin November 20 in Al Wathba
17 July 2025 13:24 ABU DHABI (WAM)The Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Spartan, the world's leading endurance and obstacle sports brand, announced that the fifth edition of the Spartan World Championship will be held in the Al Wathba Desert in Abu Dhabi from November of elite athletes and community members will participate in the four-day championship, testing their abilities in a true challenge of strength, endurance, and first day, Thursday, November 20, will feature an evening race open to women only, covering a distance of 5 km and featuring 20 obstacles. The same day will also witness a closed evening race for women, covering the same distance and obstacles. This allows participants to compete in complete privacy, with a fully female crew and without media Friday, November 21, a mixed evening Sprint 5K will be held over a distance of 5 km and featuring 20 obstacles. This event allows both men and women to overcome obstacles in one of the most challenging Spartan World Saturday, November 22, the Beast 21K World Championships for Elite, Age Groups, and Open will be held over a distance of 21 km and feature 30 obstacles.
