Brent Musburger, the legendary college football announcer, has landed a new job for the 2025 season - part of it, anyway.
The iconic college football announcer, who called ABC's Saturday Night Game of the Week for several years with Kirk Herbstreit, has since been calling Las Vegas Raiders games on the radio. But ahead of the 2025 college football and NFL seasons, Musburger has landed a new job. It's an impressive one.
Musburger, 86, has landed a prominent NFL announcing role on the verge of the 2025 preseason, which gets underway on Thursday night with the Hall of Fame Game.
Musburger will be joining NBC's booth for the Detroit Lions vs. Los Angeles Chargers Hall of Fame Game.
The 2025 recipient of the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award will first be honored on the air. He'll do a sideline interview with Maria Taylor before joining NBC announcers Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth in the broadcast booth for the entire second half of the game.
Musburger is one of the most iconic voices in all of sports media. He's perhaps best known for his college football coverage, working alongside Kirk Herbstreit at ABC and ESPN.
But he also has strong ties to the NFL.
Musburger, an avid gambling fan, now lives in Las Vegas. He was the original host of CBS's NFL coverage and he's been on the call for several Super Bowl broadcasts, too.
The iconic football announcer has also done strong work for the NBA and college basketball, too.
It'll be fun to see him back in the broadcasting booth ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

John Stamos Replaces Ailing Josh Gad As King Herod In ‘Jesus Christ Superstar' At The Hollywood Bowl

John Stamos is sliding into the golden slippers of King Herod just hours before the curtain comes up on Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl. Stamos' last minute casting comes after Josh Gad announced yesterday that he would no longer occupy the throne on Friday night. More from Deadline Josh Gad Drops Out Of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' Hollywood Bowl Concert Due To Covid Cynthia Erivo Cast As Jesus In 'Jesus Christ Superstar' At The Hollywood Bowl Josh Gad & Andrew Rannells To Star In 'Stay Tuned' Comedy Series Based On John Ritter Movie In Works At Hulu 'It is with enormous heartbreak that I inform you all that unfortunately, I have contracted a virus known as COVID (remember that little bastard from season one of 'Earth really sucks right now'?)' Gad wrote in on Instagram. Stamos is not just a pretty face. Beyond his acting chops, he's been a musician for decades, most famously playing with the Beach Boys on a regular basis. He also participated in the Broadway revival of Bye Bye Birdie and played Corny Collins in Hairspray at the Bowl in 2011. 'I am grateful for the chance to step into the gold lamé,' wrote Stamos on Instagram. 'This is an honor. A dream. And also a little insane because… I just stepped off a plane from @thebeachboys tour in Spain and have less than 24 hours to pull this off.' King Herod was played by Paul Ainsley in the original 1971 Broadway production and by Josh Mostel in the 1973 film. Alice Cooper rocked the part in NBC's 2018 live concert version of the musical. For this weekend's Bowl show, Cynthia Erivo was cast in the eponymous biblical role back in February, when the staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's musical was announced, running Aug. 1-3. Adam Lambert was later cast as Judas, with Milo Manheim and Raúl Esparza also joining the cast as Peter and Pontius Pilate. Phillipa Soo will play Mary Magdalene. Directed and choreographed by Tony winner Trujillo, the Hollywood Bowl's Jesus Christ Superstar will be conducted and music-directed by Stephen Oremus (who worked on both the Broadway and film versions of Wicked). The show is being produced in association with Neil Meron and Robert Greenblatt. Patriots Twitter reacts to Terry McLaurin reportedly requesting trade

Washington Commanders All-Pro wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been a dream trade target for the New England Patriots throughout the offseason. But few expected contract negotiations between McLaurin and the Commanders to break down to the point of a Patriots trade even being a possibility. On Thursday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz dropped a report that reminded NFL fans that there is no such thing as a sure thing in the NFL. McLaurin, who is an apparent hold-in at training camp, reportedly requested a trade from the Commanders. The decision comes with McLaurin playing in the final year of his contract and stalled negotiations between the two sides. The Patriots currently have 11 wide receivers on their roster. Stefon Diggs, who is coming off a torn ACL, is expected to be their top receiving option. Demario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and rookie Kyle Williams have also been top targets in training camp. Adding an elite player like McLaurin to the mix could give the Patriots one of the best receiving corps in the league. He has 1,000-plus receiving yards in his last five straight seasons, and he served as star quarterback Jayden Daniels' favorite receiving target in his rookie year. The veteran wideout finished the 2024 season with 82 catches for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns.
