LSU football predicted to land elite tackle after decommitment from SEC rival
On3's Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction Sunday for LSU to land a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Emanuel Tucker. Tucker is slated to make his commitment on June 13.
Tucker took a trip to Baton Rouge over the weekend and it seems that the head coach Brian Kelly's staff won him over. He was active on social media, reposting content from the LSU facilities.
Last weekend, Tucker decommitted from Mississippi State and reopened his recruitment process. Ole Miss and the Tigers entered the race with heavy hands over the past few days. Both are considered the front-runners for Tucker's services.
According to On3's Industry Rankings, Tucker is the No. 203 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle. He is No. 16 at offensive tackle and No. 9 out of Mississippi. The New Albany, MS native initially chose the Bulldogs but he's under an hour away from Oxford.
Tucker would be a significant regional get for Kelly, who built the SEC's best class of the 2026 cycle. He would be the second Mississippi native, alongside five-star Tristen Keys and the third offensive lineman, in addition to Brysten Martinez and Jalen Chapman.

10 stats tell the story of LSU baseball's dominant super regional sweep of West Virginia

10 stats tell the story of LSU baseball's dominant super regional sweep of West Virginia We saw LSU baseball at its best vs. West Virginia. The Tigers swept the Baton Rouge Super Regional to claim their spot in the College World Series. On Saturday, LSU had two grand slams en route to scoring 16 runs. The offensive barrage continued on Sunday with LSU scoring 12 more runs. LSU aces Kade Anderson and Anthony Eyanson weren't perfect, but they were good enough. West Virginia made a couple of runs in Game 1 and Game 2, but every time, LSU responded to remain in control of the game. The offensive output kept pressure off LSU pitchers throughout the series. For Jay Johnson and LSU, this marks the second trip to Omaha in three years. The Tigers won it all 2023, led by stars Paul Skenes and Dylan Crews. LSU will kick off its College World Series journey vs. Arkansas later this week. Before we get there, here are 10 stats that tell the story of LSU baseball's super regional win.

Former LSU baseball star Paul Skenes turns in another dominant outing vs. Phillies

Former LSU baseball star Paul Skenes turns in another dominant outing vs. Phillies Paul Skenes turned in another exceptional outing in a start for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The right-handed pitcher made his latest appearance in a weekend series against the Philadelphia Phillies. In his second start of 2025 against the team, Skenes held the Phillies to one run on two hits and one walk through 7.2 innings. He finished with seven strikeouts, two of which came against slugger Kyle Schwarber. The run was unearned as Brandon Marsh scored on a throwing error made by the Pirates' infield. Rafael Marchán stroked a double to the left field corner but a poor throw from the cutoff man to second base allowed Marsh to score. Although Skenes didn't get credited with the win, he was finally rewarded for his efforts as the Pirates scored late to seal 2-1 win. Through 14 starts, Skenes leads the NL in WAR with a 2.9 rating at FanGraphs. Skenes' 1.88 ERA ranks No. 2 in the NL, only trailing the Mets' Kodai Senga.

Josh Pate isn't sleeping on Oklahoma's John Mateer

Josh Pate isn't sleeping on Oklahoma's John Mateer The Oklahoma Sooners made a major upgrade at starting quarterback this winter. With former starter Jackson Arnold off to play for the Auburn Tigers, OU had a hole to fill under center. Not only did they fill it, they did so with a player, John Mateer, who is better than any QB the Sooners had on the roster a year ago. In fact, Mateer was the transfer portal's top overall player this year. Oklahoma beat out Miami and North Carolina to land the former Washington State star. After OU was atrocious offensively in 2024, Mateer's arrival gives the Sooners a chance to rebound back to their winning ways in 2025. At least that's what Josh Pate, the host of "Josh Pate's College Football Show", thinks. Because of familiarity with his play-caller and the help of players from multiple top-ten recruiting classes over the past few years, he has Mateer right alongside the best quarterbacks in the entire SEC. "I'm putting John Mateer in the top five," Pate said. "If I'm right, Oklahoma's gonna be a contender in the SEC. I believe in the OC-quarterback approach, bringing both of them in, not just one of them, especially when they're both qualified, and Ben Arbuckle and John Mateer are. I also think it greatly helps that John Mateer is not being brought into Norman, Oklahoma, and then being looked at by everyone down on their knees with their hands clasped praying, 'Please save us John, save us.' No, you don't need to save anyone. You need to go in there and play solid football and execute, make good decisions, because you know what you've got around you? You've got a top-ten roster around you. You've got a really good defense. You don't have to score 42 a game to win, and you've got guys calling plays for you that you're very familiar with. I think he's gonna be really good this year. That's why I've got Oklahoma top ten in the preseason." Sooner Nation has long clamored for complementary football in Norman. For years, OU fans had to watch incredible offenses, led by Heisman Trophy-level quarterbacks, be ultimately let down by bad defenses. The trio of Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts combined for four College Football Playoff appearances in five seasons from 2015 to 2019, and it was the inability to get stops on defense that, for the most part, sunk those excellent Oklahoma teams in the semifinal round each time. When Brent Venables took over for Lincoln Riley, the hope was that he could change that. In the years since, Venables has built up a defense that looks like it can compete in the SEC. But, just as the defense was getting really good in 2024, Oklahoma's offense fell off a cliff with Seth Littrell and Jackson Arnold at the helm. Complementary football eluded OU yet again. With plenty of returning starters, the Oklahoma defense looks like it has the pieces to be good again. On the other side of the ball, the Arbuckle-Mateer combination hopes to finally bring high-level play on both offense and defense, at the same time, to Norman in 2025.
