Chiefs DE George Karlaftis to throw first pitch at Jac Caglianone's Kauffman Stadium debut
The Kansas City Chiefs will be well represented at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday, June 10.
According to Matt Foster of KSHB 41 News, star defensive end George Karlaftis is set to throw out the first pitch at the Kansas City Royals' series opener against the New York Yankees.
Though the Royals and Yankees aren't typically considered rivals, Kansas City was defeated by New York in the American League Division Series of the 2024 MLB Postseason, so it wouldn't be a stretch to think that the teams may get chippy.
Tomorrow's game will be notable for Kansas City's fans because Royals rookie Jac Caglianone — one of MLB's most promising young sluggers — is set to make his home debut against New York in the evening matchup.
Karlaftis should be expected to bring a unique enthusiasm to the baseball diamond during his first pitch, and his raucous attitude is sure to be a benefit for Royals players when he cheers the team on from the grandstands.

Buffalo Rumblinks, 8/20: Who starts at safety opposite Taylor Rapp?
While the Buffalo Bills as a team endured a miserable performance during their 38-0 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 2 of the NFL's preseason, one area in particular was frustrating for Bills coaches and fans alike: how Buffalo's safeties fared during their time on the field. Cole Bishop, last year's second-round pick and the presumptive starter alongside returner Taylor Rapp, struggled mightily in his first action as he works his way back from a quad injury, while veteran Damar Hamlin also played poorly in starting alongside Bishop. Who will start next to Rapp is still one of the biggest questions facing the Bills, and today's edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off by examining why head coach Sean McDermott says the team is still 'looking' for its starting strong safety. Who starts opposite Taylor Rapp at safety? Against Chicago, Bishop and Hamlin combined to allow the Bears first touchdown on their opening drive, a bad omen of what was to come as both players struggled while auditioning for the starting strong safety role. Sean McDermott told reporters that all safeties on the roster remain in competition for the starting gig, a group that includes Bishop, Hamlin, rookie Jordan Hancock, and veteran Darrick Forrest. 'I think we're looking for that other safety to play alongside of T. Rapp,' McDermott said before Tuesday's practice session. Not only is it the 'season's hottest accessory,' but it is also considered the 'economic star of the tournament' with more than 556,000 sold at the 2024 tournament by the USTA— a 23.5% increase over year prior — resulting in a record-setting $12.8 million in sales. Nets' Day'Ron Sharpe, Terance Mann react to John Wall's NBA retirement
The Brooklyn Nets have been trying to improve the roster for the upcoming 2025-26 NBA season as the franchise continues what it hopes will be a short rebuild process. Between now and when training camp begins in September, Brooklyn's last bit of business is re-signing guard Cam Thomas. However, there is another guard that some players on the team are paying attention to. John Wall, formerly of the Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets, and Los Angeles Clippers, announced his retirement on Tuesday in a video that he posted to his account on X. Wall retired from the NBA after spending 11 seasons in the league, most of that time spent with the Wizards as he established himself as one of the marquee point guards during the 2010s. Nets forward Terance Mann, who spent one season as Wall's teammate during the 2022-23 season when both were with the Clippers, posted on his X account that Tuesday was an "emotional" day for him. After the 2016-17 season when he made his fourth of his five All-Star appearances, Wall did not play more than 41 games in a season as he dealt with various injuries during that time. Brooklyn center Day'Ron Sharpe who, like Wall, hails from North Carolina, gave a shoutout to Wall on his Instagram Story calling Wall an "NC Legend" for the work that he did since leaving North Carolina to pursue his professional basketball aspirations. Wall was a one-and-done at the University of Kentucky before entering the 2010 NBA Draft, where the Wizards took him with the first overall pick. Wall, 34, did not win a championship in the NBA, but he has plenty of accomplishments from his time in the league. Wall was part of the 2011 All-Rookie First-Team, five-time All-Star, won the Slam Dunk Contest in 2014, Second-Team All-Defense in 2015, and was Third-Team All-NBA in 2017. As Mann and Sharpe showed, Wall will always be remembered fondly for what he did was one of the better players during his prime.
