Miley Cyrus debuted the new song 'More To Lose' in front of some of her "exes".
The 'Midnight Sky' singer gave a private performance a pre-Met Gala event in New York City on Saturday (03.05.25), where the the small crowd was treated to the live debut of the stirring ballad from her upcoming album, 'Something Beautiful'.
Speaking to the audience, Miley said: 'I have a lot of people that I've known and loved for a very long time in this room. Even a couple of exes."
She belted: 'Oh, I'll stay when the ecstasy is far away / And I pray that it's comin' 'round again.
'And you say it, 'I wish it wasn't true, oh' / I knew someday, the one would have to choose / I thought we had more to lose.'
Miley's exes include ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, plus Cody Simpson, Stella Maxwell, Nick Jonas, Kaitlynn Carter, and Tyler, however, it's not clear who was in the crowd.
'Something Beautiful' - which is a visual album - is set for release on May 30.
The film will receive its world premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival in June.
So far, fans have heard the album's title track, 'Prelude', and 'End of the World'.
The album will feature 13 new songs, all of which will be accompanied by new visuals that have been described as a "one of a kind pop opera".
After releasing the title track 'Something Beautiful', Miley teased that the album marked "another bold artistic evolution" in her career.
A statement on her Instagram account read: "Miley's second song and video release 'Something Beautiful', the title track off of the forthcoming album explores her deep connection to fashion showcasing an original custom design by Casey Cadwallader for the House of Mugler in the visual.
"This era marks another bold artistic evolution for Miley, blending music and film into an immersive experience. 'Something Beautiful' is now available on all streaming platforms."
'Something Beautiful' - which Miley is co-executive producing with Shawn Everett - is the follow-up to 2023's 'Endless Summer Vacation'.
The 'Flowers' hitmaker previously teased that the upcoming album was inspired by Pink Floyd's 'The Wall', and described it as a "healing" record.
She explained to Harper's Bazaar: "My idea was making 'The Wall', but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture.
"It's a concept album that's an attempt to medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music.
"I would like to be a human psychedelic for people. I don't want anyone trying to be like me or imitate me or even be inspired by me. I want to impact frequencies in your body that make you vibrate at a different level."

Miley Cyrus felt like a ‘misfit' at 2025 Met Gala

The singer has admitted that she felt out of place at the star-studded fashion event because she wasn't part of a group representing a particular designer. Miley explained on the latest episode of The New York Times podcast The Interview, "I was wearing Alaïa - who does not have a table - so I was kind of the misfit, which I'm always OK with." The Flowers hitmaker added that she is no stranger to feeling uncomfortable, saying, "I'm used to that, it was fine, but it's just an interesting situation because…'

Miley Cyrus reveals if she will ever launch a makeup line

Miley Cyrus doesn't think she will ever launch a makeup line. The 32-year-old pop superstar is unlikely to ever follow in the footsteps of A-Listers such as Selena Gomez and Kylie Jenner by creating a cosmetics brand simply because she is not "passionate" about it in the way she is about music. She told the New York Times: "I was talking to my stepdad and he was like 'Why are you the only celebrity without a makeup line?' and I said 'Because I'm not passionate about it'. And he 'That's the right answer.'" In fact, when the 'Easy Lover' hitmaker - who has just released her ninth studio album 'Something Beautiful' - doesn't even wear make-up when she is at home and insisted that her own "persona" is very different to how the public sees her. She said: "I don't think it's so much of a conscious choice. My persona or the public's idea of me is on in some way but in my own time, I am very off. "I like no makeup, my hair up messy. I don't even look in the mirror in my own time. " Miley found global fame as a teenager when she was cast in the title role of 'Hannah Montana' - which followed the adventures of a schoolgirl who led a double life as a world-famous pop star - and thinks that she was "programmed" by the concept of the hit Disney Channel sitcom to always think of herself as two different people in and out of the spotlight. She said: "I like doing my two worlds. Maybe it's something subconsciously from the show. From 'Hannah Montana', where I think my famous person has one life, and then as a regular person, I have another life. "I think subconsciously it programmed me - not even joking - to think that who I am at home and who I am as a performer are two separate identities, and actually they are. "It's definitely a superhero cape, but it's drag!"

Miley Cyrus, pop's new queen of reinvention, goes for broke on her new album

Miley Cyrus, Something Beautiful Most pop stars will tell you that any shot at longevity demands reinvention, often multiple times over. At 32, having started her showbiz career as a kid, Miley Cyrus has already cycled through a lifetime's worth of guises. As the teen star of Hannah Montana in the mid-'00s she made age-appropriate power pop; by 2013 she was twerking at the MTV Awards and burying her Disney persona with the impudent, chaotic Bangerz. Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, a 2015 psychedelic collab with the Flaming Lips, was nothing if not bold. Her albums of the past decade have modelled a maturing look and sound as Cyrus tried to stake a place in the pop landscape that went beyond mere provocation, most recently with the vampish glam rock of 2020's Plastic Hearts and the yacht rock and hazy electronica found on 2023's Endless Summer Vacation. That last one contained Flowers, one of her biggest hits and the track that won Cyrus her first Grammy. In a recent interview Cyrus confessed she'd been yearning for that recognition for a long time, a validating achievement that gave her the freedom to do whatever she wanted this time around. Whatever she wanted isn't quite as out-there as the marketing around Something Beautiful would have you believe, but it's a solid record all the same. Allegedly inspired by Pink Floyd – The Wall, the 1982 surrealist musical drama that riffs on the Pink Floyd album of the same name, Something Beautiful is significantly less psychedelic and more glamorous than that film; a 'visual album' that succeeds more as art project than artistic evolution. The title track is probably the most ambitious on the album. It starts as a bluesy lounge ballad, busts into a rock-opera chorus about 90 seconds in, then repeats the process for the track's remainder. The entire album plays in a similar fashion, sprinkled with moments of true daring without ever fully committing to the part. End of the World plays like a hazy, soft-rock homage to ABBA's Mamma Mia – polished and tasteful without being overly arresting. What is memorable is the accompanying music video, in which Cyrus – a vision in a spangly emerald-green minidress, her long hair worn in loose waves like a '70s pin-up – preens and prowls across the stage under soft, gorgeous lighting.
