The University of Cincinnati and Ohio State University are on a list of 45 different universities that are now under investigation by the US Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR), according to CBS-affaliate WBNS and our sister station at WCPO.
This investigation specifically centers on schools that are partnering with The Ph.D. Project, an organization that focuses on helping students of all backgrounds pursue a business PhD.

Department of Education officials said that the group limits eligibility based on race and that colleges that partner with it are 'engaging in race-exclusionary practices in their graduate programs.'
In response to the investigation, a spokesperson with Ohio State told WBNS that the university 'does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity or any other protected class, and our PhD programs are open to all qualified applicants.'
'Given the extent to which our university, like most educational institutions, relies on federal funding to deliver and sustain our core mission, it is untenable to operate as if noncompliance with these directives is an effective option,' UC President Neville Pinto told WCPO.
We will continue to follow this story.

BUSTED: Critics Rip 'Hypocrite' Kristi Noem By Using Her Own Words Against Her

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is getting called out for hypocrisy after dramatically changing her tune on the use of the National Guard by the president. Noem on Sunday endorsed President Donald Trump's use of troops in Los Angeles in response to protests against immigration arrests, claiming the deployment was necessary because of 'bad decisions' by California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D). She said Trump's decision was made for 'the safety of this community.' 'And that's one of the reasons why these National Guard soldiers are being federalized: So they can use their special skill set to keep peace,' she said on CBS's 'Face The Nation.' But she's also on record opposing the federalization of National Guard troops as an assault on states' rights. The difference? Her previous statement came last year, when the president was a Democrat: Joe Biden. 'We will defend our rights because the last several years, we've seen Democrats take away our freedom of religion, our freedom of assembly, our freedom of speech,' Noem told Sean Hannity during a February 2024 Fox News interview that she herself tweeted at the time. 'We can't let them take away our states' rights too, especially our right to protect ourselves.' Her critics ― including Newsom ― were quick this week to offer Noem a reminder:

A report from the fire department states that crews found three victims and one was stilled trapped inside the house. Justin Braun, 34, died in the explosion and a 28-year-old and 4-year-old were hospitalized with critical injuries, WOIO-19 reported. The fire department said a woman took herself to an area with injuries related to the explosion. The Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office told WOIO-19 that the occupants made homemade fireworks inside, which possibly caused the explosion. WOIO-19 obtained the following statement from the State Fire Marshal Office: The Ohio State Fire Marshal urges everyone to not try to make homemade fireworks or tamper with fireworks they have purchased. This incident is a tragic reminder of how dangerous this can be. The chemical mixtures and materials used in fireworks are extremely volatile and dangerous. When it comes to manufacturing fireworks, its best to leave it to the professionals.
