" Woakes Hai Kya Tu?": Shreyas Iyer Takes Hilarious Dig At England Pacer In Video With PBKS Teammate
In the video posted on Instagram, the friendly contest began with Shashank briefing his skipper on the field setup. The conversation between the duo went on as follows:
Shashank: "Yeh bhi out nahin hai?" (This is not out either?)
Shreyas: "Sirf appreciate kar, six hai yeh. (Juat appreciate, it's a six.)
Shashank then warned him:"Ab aayega short ball." (The short ball is up next.)
Iyer humorously asked Shashank, "Woakes hai kya tu?" (Are you Woakes), when he mentioned about bowling a short ball.

For the unversed, England pacer Chris Woakes troubled India batters with his short deliveries in the recently-concluded five-match Test series.
The Punjab kings franchise shared the entertaining video on Instagram, showcasing the fun bonding session between the two teammates.
Talking about Iyer, the ignored India star is reportedly set to make a comeback in the international team from the Asia Cup 2025, which will kick-start from September 9.
Shreyas Iyer was India's top-scorer in the Champions Trophy (243 in 5 matches) win. Though, the Punjab Kings captain has represented India in all formats, currently he only plays in ODIs.
"We need Iyer's class and experience in the middle order in all formats. It's something which we missed in England during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The selectors are aware that Iyer is an excellent player of spin bowling, which will be crucial in a home season that involves four Tests - two each against West Indies and South Africa," sources told TOI.

Two Japanese boxers die of brain injury sustained during fights
Two boxers in Japan died from brain injuries they incurred in separate bouts during the same event in Tokyo, officials said. Super featherweight Shigetoshi Kotari and lightweight Hiromasa Urakawa, both 28, fought on the same card in Tokyo's Korakuen Hall on August 2. Both were later rushed to hospital where they had brain surgery. Kotari, who battled to a draw after 12 rounds against fellow Japanese fighter Yamato Hata lost consciousness soon after and 'passed away at 10:59 pm on August 8,' his M.T boxing gym said on its website Saturday. 'He did his best to fight his way through the surgery and treatment he had been receiving at a Tokyo hospital due to acute subdural haematoma,' the gym's post said. Urakawa was stopped in the eighth and final round against Yoji Saito and 'tragically succumbed to injuries sustained during his fight', the World Boxing Organization (WBO) said in an Instagram post on Sunday. ALSO READ: Benn and Eubank rematch scheduled for November at Tottenham Stadium Urakawa died on Saturday night, according to local media reports. 'This heartbreaking news comes just days after the passing of Shigetoshi Kotari, who died from injuries suffered in his fight on the same card,' the WBO said, adding it extends 'our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and the Japanese boxing community.' Tsuyoshi Yasukochi, secretary-general of the Japan Boxing Commission, told local media after their hospitalisation that it was likely 'the first time in Japan two fighters underwent skull-opening surgery for injuries stemming from the same event'. Not Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni! Sanju Samson Calls India Captain As His Cricketing Idol
Last Updated: Sanju Samson, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, admires Rohit Sharma as his idol. India's ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, may no longer feature regularly across all three formats, but the legacy he has built remains a source of admiration and inspiration. He has called time on his Test and T20I careers, focusing solely now on the ODI World Cup 2027. However, he is still missed by many, not just those outside the Indian dressing room, but also within it. Sanju Samson, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, admires Rohit as his idol. The Kerala cricketer recently appeared in a podcast with former Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, where he said he idolised Rohit. On the show, Ashwin asked, '(Who is) Your all-time cricketing idol, and one modern player that you get excited to watch, as a fan?" Sanju replied, 'That's a big question. Uh… Rohit Sharma." Speaking about the modern-day player he gets excited to watch, Samson named 'Chinna Paiyan' Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The 14-year-old opening batter made his IPL debut earlier this year, replacing an injured Samson in the Rajasthan Royals line-up. He quickly rose to fame with his extraordinary strokeplay and a sizzling century against the Gujarat Titans, becoming the youngest ever to do so in the league's history. He played 7 games in IPL 2025 and scored 252 runs, averaging 36. 'Yeah, I saw him hit one for a six. I was thinking that the little guy got lucky, but it kept on going. The quality of the shots also really shocked me," Samson admitted to Ravichandran Ashwin on the latter's YouTube show, Kutti Stories With Ash. And Samson and Ashwin weren't the only players in awe either. 'I saw Jos Buttler talking to Jofra Archer about it. About how it was to get smashed around by a 14-year-old in the nets," Ashwin said. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
