There was a surprise for Jones during Friday night's show when she was asked to move to the other side of the sofa to be interviewed by her co-host Roman Kemp and their guest, author and gameshow host Richard Osman.
Jones, who usually asks the questions, was put in the hot seat and asked about her 15 years on the BBC One show.
The 30-minute special, which included a chat with pop star Olly Murs, included some heartfelt montages looking at some of the celebrities Jones has interviewed over the years, from Dolly Parton to Whoopi Goldberg.
A number of famous people including baking star Dame Mary Berry and Welsh actor Michael Sheen shared their memories of Jones.

The BBC's director-general, Tim Davie, also made an appearance at the studio to congratulate the TV presenter.
Other highlights included a film looking back at Jones's early days in Cardiff and a talk with her old drama tutor and parents.
Co-presenter Kemp, 32, said: 'Alex is a national treasure in my opinion and someone I'm so grateful to call my co-host.
'I've learned so much from her since being at The One Show and every day I see first-hand just how much the show and its viewers mean to her. A true great of the BBC and a wonderful human being.'

The One Show editor, Joanne Vaughan-Jones, said: 'It's an absolute privilege to celebrate this special milestone with Alex.
'Being live on the sofa night after night, she brings a rare gift – the ability to make everyone feel completely at ease, whether it's the guests on the sofa or the viewers watching from home.
'Her warmth, empathy, quick wit and natural connection with people are what make her such a cherished part of the show.'
Jones has worked alongside broadcasters including Vernon Kay, Clara Amfo and Lauren Laverne.
She also co-hosted alongside former footballer Jermaine Jenas before he was removed from the presenting team after alleged issues relating to workplace conduct.

Death in Paradise star returns to screens in 'highly entertaining' detective drama

Death in Paradise star returns to screens in 'highly entertaining' detective drama The second season of the detective drama is set to air on ITV tonight with stars from Death in Paradise, Midsomer Murders and Call the Midwife. Ridley is returning for season 2 (Image: ITV) ITV is set to premiere the second series of its hit detective show tonight, boasting an impressive ensemble of actors. The network has dubbed the new series of Ridley a "gripping crime thriller", with Adrian Dunbar of Line of Duty fame reprising his role as the eponymous Alex Ridley. ‌ Georgie Glen, known for her role as Miss Millicent Higgins in Call the Midwife, joins the cast as Dr Wendy Newstone. Bronagh Waugh, familiar from Death in Paradise, will appear as DI Carol Farman, acting opposite Dunbar. ‌ The series also welcomes George Bukhari, recognised for his role as Sammy Farr in Coronation Street, playing DC Darren Lakhan, and Julie Graham from Midsomer Murders portraying Annie Marling. ‌ Described as a "twisty" and 'highly entertaining' drama, Ridley follows the story of retired detective Alex Ridley who returns to the force as a consultant, using his vast experience to crack complex cases. Ridley has a star-studded cast (Image: ITV) BBC Death in Paradise star shares heartbreak after being fired and losing job READ MORE: After being greenlit by ITV in 2022, the eagerly awaited second series of Ridley is expected to captivate audiences once again when it airs tonight, reports the Express. ‌ The opening episode of Ridley's second series, 'A Sleeping Tiger', kicks off with a two-hour special and is the first of four feature-length episodes. In this instalment, Ridley delves into a high-profile jewellery robbery that escalates into a perplexing homicide investigation. The character of Ridley is also portrayed dealing with personal loss, mourning his wife and daughter, a backstory which Adrian Dunbar has discussed as significant for shedding light on men's mental health issues. ‌ He shared with Digital Spy: "I think a lot of men feel that they should just be able to kind of deal with stuff on their own and bury it and somehow work their way through it. "But it takes a big toll on yourself. So you'll see him [Ridley] crumble quite a bit, especially when he's on his own. He finds it very difficult, and I suppose getting back to work is the start of a healing process. "I think people should [take that away]. Isolation is a big deal, especially in rural areas. A lot of men in particular who are isolated if they're alone. They do suffer greatly." ‌ A Call the Midwife icon will star (Image: BBC) Despite garnering a fan base, the first season of Ridley was met with mixed reactions from critics, with the Daily Telegraph delivering a harsh critique, as they wrote: "If you were playing a detective drama drinking game while watching Ridley, you'd have needed your stomach pumped by the second ad break." The Sunday Times described the show as: "A curious mix of the formulaic and the flamboyant, plodding conventionality and vaulting ambition - rendered all the weirder by its central reliance on a strange blend of wine-bar karaoke and bland Irish balladry." ‌ Meanwhile, the Metro commented: "By the time the first episode is over, you'll be begging Monday morning to save you." On the other hand, some reviews were favourable, with The Guardian noting: "All the pieces are smoothly set in motion." The Wall Street Journal offered its take, saying: "Let us say that the oft-times convoluted plot and the occasional absurdity are worth enduring for the personalities - Morse, Thursday and the wonderfully dry police pathologist, Dr. Max DeBryn (James Bradshaw)." Article continues below One enthusiast of the show shared their thoughts, adding: "The show has its shortfalls and aspects of detective work and precinct accessibility that do not ring true, but it is entertaining with twists & turns, serious and lightheartedness blended with sentimental moments." Reflecting on the series, a viewer commented: "Broad in its sweep and stirring in its storytelling, Ridley represents a person's search for justice, no matter the personal or professional cost." The eagerly awaited second season of Ridley kicks off tonight at 8pm on ITV1, and viewers can binge all four episodes on ITVX post-broadcast.

EXACTLY 50 years to that day, the programme aired a special episode to mark its big milestone. As always, Sportscene was on to show the highlights from the day's Scottish Premiership matches. Rangers' draw with Dundee, St Mirren's clash with Motherwell and Livingston's win over Falkirk were the three featured games on the big occasion. But this was no ordinary Sportscene! As we told you during the week, some legendary figures from the show's past were back for one night only. Iconic commentators Archie Macpherson, Jock Brown and Rob Maclean were all back to call the matches, with pundit Gordon Smith also making a return. And in the presenting chair was Dougie Donnelly. Considered the face of the programme by many, 72-year old Donnelly spent more than 30 years with the BBC having joined the organisation in 1978. He quickly became the host of Sportscene and anchored coverage - both live and highlights - until 2010. Rangers boss Russell Martin admits there will be 'a bit of pain' as he reacts to Dundee draw at Ibrox Donnelly left the BBC after Sportscene's live coverage of the Scottish Cup Final in 2010 - his THIRTIETH Scottish Cup Final in a row. 15 years on, he was back to present the show one more time. In an amusing opening to the programme, Donnelly posed as a cleaner sweeping the floor, approaching the host of the current era Steven Thompson and saying: "Do you mind if I have a go?" He could then be seen whipping off his jacket and welcoming viewers to Sportscene at 50. Donnelly then anchored the hour-long programme and fans were thrilled to see his return. They were also loving his sign-off on the show as he hailed it as "the best job in the world" and paid tribute to friends no longer with us. Several punters took to social media to hail Donnelly's return. One asked: "Can we keep Dougie Donnelly in place?" A second said: "Dougie Donnelly absolutely seamless. Could slip back into the lineup with ease." A third added: "Any chance we can get Dougie Donnelly back as permanent Sportscene host?" A fourth posted: "Dougie Donnelly is a legend." Another comment read: "Dougie Donnelly was and still is top class!" While a sixth said: "Tremendous seeing Dougie Donnelly presenting and Jock Brown commentating on Sportscene tonight." Another fan praised: "Dougie Donnelly is such a class act." While another comment read: "Reminds us all what a class act Dougie Donnlly is. He really should still be on our screens regularly." And another posted: "Dougie showed himself to be the consummate professional.
