BJP demands White Paper on implementation of Cong. guarantees
Party president N. Ramchander Rao told the media at the Telangana BJP office here on Thursday that the ruling party should come out with details on to what extent the promises made in its election manifesto have been fulfilled or it has no moral right to go on a walkathon seeking people's support.
The BJP leader said that the proposed walkathons by the Congress do not have any basis and wanted to know if the ruling party intends to take the youth, students, BC, ST/ST, farmers, women and other sections for a ride again.
Mr. Rao also welcomed the SC verdict giving three months to the Assembly Speaker to take a decision on the BRS MLAs, who have defected to the Congress.
Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had brought in changes in the anti-defection law but it was misused by the BRS earlier, and now by the Congress in luring legislators from the Opposition party, he said.
He called upon the Speaker to take a decision following democratic principles. The party chief also hailed the verdict on the Malegoan blasts case and said that a conspiracy hatched by the Congress has been exposed.
Fertilizer supply
In a separate press conference, general secretary G. Premender Reddy contested Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao's allegations of less fertilizer supply, adding that the Centre had sent 6.12 lakh metric tonnes between April-July this year out of a demand for 6.14 lakh metric tonnes.
About 4.36 lakh metric tonnes has been sold with 1.76 lakh metric tonnes stock available in godowns and another 19,600 metric tonnes are in transit. He said that was ready for a debate with the Agriculture Minister 'anytime, any place'. The State Government's inefficiency, hoarding and black-marketing have led to the fertilizer crisis, he said.

DMK Rajya Sabha Member P. Wilson on Saturday said amendments to the Waqf Act brought about in 1995 were sufficient, and the BJP's decision to form a committee and its actions were 'oppressive'. Speaking at the 'Save Waqf, Save Constitution' panel discussion organised by the All India Muslims Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), he said Chief Minister M.K. Stalin passed a resolution in the Assembly when the Waqf (Amendments) Act, 2025, was introduced in Parliament. 'Only the BJP opposed the resolution and staged a walkout from the Assembly. The BJP has betrayed the Muslim community and the AIADMK has formed an alliance with them. When the Bill was sent to a Joint Parliamentary Committee, the DMK appointed two of its MPs, A. Raja and M.M. Abdullah, who travelled across India for over nine months and participated in consultative meetings and opposed the amendments. The committee's objections were given in writing, and we caused a ruckus in Parliament. We debated it for 15 hours, and it was passed early in the morning. We voted against it,' he said. He added that the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had said that the Waqf Act should be challenged in Supreme Court. 'After it was passed in the Rajya Sabha on April 4 and became an Act on April 5, we filed a case against it on April 7.' Former Madras High Court judge Justice D. Hariparanthaman said the latest Waqf Act amendments should be compared to the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act and compared to the rights available to the majority community. 'Section 104 of the Waqf Act which says that anyone can donate to Waqf... has been removed. Now, not even a Muslim can donate but he/she should have been a Muslim for five years. Does HR and CE Act have such a section? A Muslim, Christian, Jain is not prevented from donating to the Mylapore temple. This is the first act that prevents donation. All powers of the Waqf Act are being taken over by the Central government,' he said. R. Nagpur: Vijay Chauthaiwale, in-charge of BJP's foreign affairs department, described the 2009 Indo-Pak bilateral meeting in Egypt as the lowest point in India's foreign policy. Speaking at an event organized by the Late Prakash Rajurkar Memorial Trust in Nagpur, Chauthaiwale said the joint statement issued after the meeting between then PM Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani undermined India's anti-terrorism stance. Quoting from the statement, he said it allowed dialogue to continue despite Pakistan's alleged involvement in terrorism, effectively bracketing terrorism with talks. Vote theft claim: It's Congress vs BJP protests in Bengaluru on August 5
