Caitlin Clark receives injury update as WNBA return is left in doubt
After Clark underwent further medical testing on her ailing right groin, the team has announced that no additional injury or tissue damage was discovered.
Thus far, Clark has missed three games, including the All-Star Game, but is currently traveling with the team.
Clark is still working with medical staff on her recovery. She previously battled left groin and left quad strains earlier this season.
She has now missed 11 of 24 Fever games on top of last weekend's All-Star festivities in Indianapolis. As a result, the WNBA 's Nielsen ratings have suffered in 2025 after shattering all league records during Clark's rookie season.

Dallas Cowboys rocked by Tyler Guyton injury blow after guard Rob Jones broke a bone in his neck
The Dallas Cowboys have been hit with another significant injury blow ahead of the start of the new season - but while it is bad news, they are lucky it wasn't worse. Left tackle Tyler Guyton was hurt in practice Monday, the second injury on Dallas' offensive line in as many days. Guyton has a broken bone in his right knee that will not require surgery and he could miss four to six weeks. But immediate fears and concerns within the Cowboys camp was that Guyton, 24, had torn his ACL - ending his 2025 season before it had even started. The fact that is not the case is nothing other than a major boost for new head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Guyton, a first-round pick out of Oklahoma, started 11 games and played in 15 as a rookie last season. The Cowboys have been counting on the 6-foot-7, 325-pound Guyton taking a step forward in his second season as part of a reconfigured offensive line. The injury comes after guard Rob Jones - who been outstanding in the early days of camp - broke a bone in his neck and will miss at least two months, potentially three. Jones had been competing with rookie Tyler Booker, the team's first-round draft pick, for the position of right guard. The injury to Guyton comes amid the ongoing - and increasingly tense - contract negotiations between star man Micah Parsons and the Cowboys. The 26-year-old Parsons, a two-time All-Pro defensive end, is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Last week, he said there had been no improvement in discussions over new terms. 'I mean, honest, there's not really much movement, man,' Parsons said last Tuesday. 'You know, I want to be here. I've always said I want to be here. 'But at the end of the day, they sign the checks like always, and let's see if they want me to be here at the end of the day.'

Astros hunt for missing offense, home victory against Nationals
July 29 - Perhaps the greatest display of evidence showcasing the Houston Astros' offensive struggles came Monday in the opener of a three-game home interleague series against the Washington Nationals. Four Houston pitchers -- starter Framber Valdez and relievers Bryan King, Bryan Abreu and Josh Hader -- combined for 19 strikeouts. However, the Astros managed only four hits in a 2-1 loss to the Nationals, their sixth consecutive home loss and fifth straight defeat overall. Houston has just one win in its past 11 home games and has only eight runs during its current skid, including one run in each of the last three games. "Teams go through scuffles like this during the season," Astros manager Joe Espada said. "Ten days, two weeks, when you feel like you can't get a knock with people on base. I think we're right there in the middle of that. We've just got to fight through it. "Continue to get people on base, continue to have this mentality of 'I don't need to do it all on one swing.' Let's just pass the baton and let the next guy pick me up." Right-hander Jason Alexander (1-1, 8.14 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Astros on Tuesday. In just his second start of the season for Houston, he allowed five runs on 11 hits and two walks with three strikeouts over six innings in a 5-2 loss to the Athletics on Thursday. Alexander has made three appearances since Houston selected him off waivers on May 18. In his lone career appearance against the Nationals on June 12, 2022, while pitching for Milwaukee, Alexander allowed one run on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings but did not factor into the decision of the Brewers' 4-1 victory. Right-hander Michael Soroka (3-8, 4.85 ERA) has the starting assignment on Tuesday for the Nationals, who have won three games in a row. Despite allowing one run on two hits and three walks with six strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a 5-0 defeat to the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, Soroka suffered his fifth consecutive loss covering eight starts. He has a 4.83 ERA over those eight starts with 48 strikeouts in 41 innings. Soroka has a pair of quality starts during his skid, matching his total from his first seven starts this season. Soroka has faced the Astros once, tossing a scoreless inning of relief while allowing one hit and recording three strikeouts on June 20, 2024, while pitching for the Chicago White Sox. Nationals interim manager Miguel Castro gave All-Star outfielder James Wood the day off on Monday, citing the lack of downtime Wood had after participating in the All-Star Game earlier this month. Wood has a slash line of .114/.225/.396 with no home runs in nine games since the All-Star break after posting a .278/.381/.534 line with 24 homers and 69 RBIs in 95 games prior to that. "I just wanted to give him some time to mentally come down and rest a little bit," Castro said. "I just wanted to give him a little break, more mentally. I told him to come on the last bus (to the ballpark) so he could relax and chill out. Just a chill day." --Field Level Media

Angels heating up, look for series win vs. Rangers
July 29 - The Los Angeles Angels will try to accomplish something they haven't done in over a month when they face the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night in Anaheim, Calif. Win three games in a row. The Angels haven't won a trio of consecutive games since June 23-25 when they swept a three-game series from the Boston Red Sox. Los Angeles is 4 1/2 games behind Boston for the final American League wild-card spot. The Rangers are a half-game back. All-Star Yusei Kikuchi (4-7, 3.23 ERA) gets the start for Los Angeles on Tuesday and will be opposed by fellow veteran left-hander Patrick Corbin (6-7, 3.78). Kikuchi is 4-2 with a 5.01 ERA in 10 career appearances (nine starts) against the Rangers. Corbin is 3-0 with a 4.62 ERA in five career starts against the Angels. He picked up the win in a 11-4 victory at Anaheim Stadium on July 10, allowing two runs -- a two-run homer by Taylor Ward -- on seven hits in five innings while striking out six. Corbin comes in on a roll, going 2-0 with a 2.01 ERA in four starts in July, including back-to-back road wins at San Diego and in Los Angeles against the Angels. He has allowed only five runs and 21 hits in 22 1/3 innings in July while striking out 22. The Angels won the series opener, 6-4, on Monday night, roughing up Rangers ace Jacob deGrom in the process. deGrom, who entered the contest with a nine-start unbeaten streak, gave up a season-high five runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. Ward matched his career high with his 25th home run, a solo shot leading off the bottom of the sixth to break a 3-3 tie. Kevin Newman and Luis Rengifo both hit two-run homers for the Angels. "It's great. He's tough," Angels interim manager Ray Montgomery said of getting a win over deGrom. "He's one of the best in the game and he has been for a long time. He made a couple of mistakes ... and we capitalized on them with home runs, which was nice." Rengifo's two-run blast to right came off reliever Jacob Webb and extended the Angels' lead to 6-3. "The long ball beat us tonight. They got every mistake," Texas manager Bruce Bochy said. "You give them credit there. They hit a lot of home runs. In this ballpark, the ball flies. If you get it up in the air, it's got a good chance of going out, and that's what happened." It was just the second loss in 10 games since the All-Star break for the Rangers. The Rangers remain four games behind first-place Houston in the AL West. "Look, I have a calm group out there," Bochy told "They've been through a lot. They're not going to dwell on this game here. They'll put this behind them, we'll come out and play tomorrow. We're in July. We have a lot of baseball left." --Field Level Media
