Police release Oasis Heaton Park gig arrest numbers and issue drone warning
Greater Manchester Police have reported that the first Oasis homecoming concert at Heaton Park went off 'without incident'.
Last night Oasis kicked off the first of their Heaton Park comeback shows. The five nights are the Gallagher brothers first time playing in their hometown since 2009. The gates of Heaton Park opened yesterday afternoon and fans made the most of the booze and sunshine.
The police force have now confirmed the arrest of six individuals, with offences ranging from drunk and disorderly conduct to suspicion of fraud and intent to supply cannabis. The arrested men, whose ages span from 20 to 55, are currently being held in custody. Officers equipped with drone technology responded to several violations of the air space restrictions set from 11am to 11.59pm during the Oasis gigs.
The no-fly zone extends one-and-a-half nautical miles around the venue, and violators risk facing legal action. GMP officers tracked down seven drone pilots, confiscating five drones and giving a cautionary talk to two others.
A GMP spokesperson warned: "Anyone thinking of attempting to get their drone 'Up In The Sky' within the restricted air space should be warned that we will not hesitate to act against you," reports Manchester Evening News.
Assistant Chief Constable Matt Boyle expressed satisfaction with the event's security, stating: "We are really pleased to say that fans attending the concert tonight have been able to do so safely and without incident." He added that the police maintained a strong and visible presence to ensure public safety and that a dispersal order covering Heaton Park is effective until 2am the following day to address any potential disturbances.
"We would advise all fans travelling to and from the coming events to ensure they keep an eye out for information from our partners about transport options and road closures, allow enough time to get to the concert, keep hydrated and look out for each other.
"As always, if you notice anything that looks suspicious, report this to security staff or police immediately. This operation sits alongside resources there for anyone in need of police assistance across the whole of Greater Manchester."
The legendary Manchester outfit, fronted by Liam and Noel Gallagher, launched the opening night of their Heaton Park residency last night (July 11) with nearly 80,000 supporters in attendance - including locals and devotees who've journeyed from across the globe for this momentous performance.
The Manchester dates, running through to July 20, follow the opening pair of nights from the Live '25 tour in Cardiff last week. Initially revealed last summer, the tour represents the brothers' first shared stage appearance in almost 16 years - sparking a frenzy of excitement and nostalgic euphoria amongst supporters.

An international manhunt has been launched for a 'cowardly' pedophile who fled the UK in the middle of his trial. Oasis gigs: Monitoring a Champagne Supernova from the sky
Oasis mania has swept the city as the Mancunian rock legends gear up to play their final Scottish concert in Edinburgh. An estimated 70,000 fans are once again heading to Murrayfield on Tuesday. At Fettes police station in Edinburgh, preparations are under way for the third day of their Scottish run. A major police operation has been in place throughout the weekend, deploying helicopters and drones to monitor the crowds and ensure public safety from the skies. Superintendent David Robertson told STV News: 'This really is an example of Police Scotland maximising our use of emerging technology to support the public and deliver major events with a real focus on public safety. 'I've been policing events for many years. Previously, we relied on fixed local authority CCTVs, which are drone and helicopter allow a versatile, agile approach to really understand what's going on the ground, deploy resources more accurately and responsively to address any emerging threats.' STV News Police officers briefed on Saturday ahead of Oasis' second concert He added: 'It gives me a great degree of confidence, being able to recognise the impact of any particular event. 'It shows the effective delivery of multi-agency planning – but we can't be complacent.' The operation is coordinated from the Multi-Agency Co-ordination Centre (MACC), a dedicated command hub also used during events such as the death of Queen Elizabeth II and Edinburgh's Bonfire Night celebrations. Police Scotland, British Transport Police, the City of Edinburgh Council, and Murrayfield Stadium have worked closely for months to plan and coordinate security operations for the event. Mr Robertson said the force's use of drones has increased over the last few years to support a range of different police operations, such as major events, missing people and anti-social behaviour. 'It's important that we gather intel from a range of sources to assess emerging threats and risks. 'The use of drone and helicopter gives us a perspective we didn't have before, particularly around crowd dynamics. All of our commanders are able to receive feeds from drones into mobile devices. 'We take the feed from the ground, stadium and the view from the air for a broader perspective.' The concerts have been a landmark moment for fans, marking the first time Liam and Noel Gallagher performed together in Scotland since the band split in 2009. Figures show the gigs are set to generate a total of £124m in spending within Edinburgh's economy. Liam and Noel Gallagher's brother Paul dropped from Oasis afterparty after rape
Paul Gallagher will no longer perform at an official afterparty in Dublin this weekend, ahead of his scheduled court appearance later this month. The elder brother of Oasis frontmen Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher, 59, had been due to DJ at The Grand Social on Saturday to coincide with the band's two sold-out Croke Park shows on August 16 and 17. The venue confirmed that he had been removed from the line-up, with Mani of The Stone Roses now set to perform on Saturday night, and former Creation Records boss Alan McGee on Sunday. In July, the Metropolitan Police announced Gallagher had been charged with multiple offences, including rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. In a statement to Metro, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: 'The offences are reported to have taken place between 2022 – 2024. The charges follow an investigation that commenced in 2024. A woman is being supported by specially-trained officers.' Gallagher, who lives in East Finchley, north London, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, August 27. The afterparties are part of a series of fan events organised by Up Close and Personal Promotions to accompany the Oasis Live '25 tour, the long-awaited reunion announced last August. It was previously reported that Liam has moved his brother Paul into his £4million mansion ahead of his court date this month. According to The Sun, younger brother Liam is supporting his older sibling by allowing him to stay at his home in North London. A source for the publication also reports that Liam flew Paul to the band's latest gig in Edinburgh, utilising a £3.5million private jet. Pictures obtained by The Sun on Sunday depict Liam and Paul arriving at Luton airport, where they laughed and joked before hopping on the private jet together. Another image shows Paul at Liam's London mansion, dragging wheely luggage behind him as he carries a heavy backpack. A source told the publication: 'Liam is supporting Paul through this. He invited him to stay with him at his house before they travelled to Edinburgh. 'Paul looked like he was moving in and had two large suitcases.
