Scots police search for missing man who vanished wearing hospital 'moon boot'
Cops are appealing for help to track down a man who has gone missing wearing a hospital issued 'moon boot'.
Lee Reid, 49, has been reported missing from Aberdeen, and despite inquiries and CCTV checks, police have been unable to track him down.
Lee was last seen around 8am on Friday, August 8, near Aberdeen city centre.
He is described as white, 6ft2 in height, has short grey hair, and is wearing a black Nike top, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms, a black hospital issue 'moon boot' on one foot and a red trainer on the other foot.
Inspector Hollie Murray from Police Scotland said: "Officers have been checking CCTV and with Lee's family and friends, as well as searching where he was last seen and where he frequents, but so far no one has heard from him nor seen him.
"We are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety and wellbeing, and so would appeal to anyone who may have seen Lee or have information as to where he may be, to call police on 101 quoting incident number 0995 of Saturday, 9 August 2025."
A moon boot is normally issued to control movement of the foot while a foot or ankle injury is healing.

Yesterday we reported how an urgent search had been launched to trace a missing Edinburgh man who vanished after hiking mountain trails in Morocco.
Adam Jordanowski, 54, was reported missing from the city of Chefchaouen on Wednesday, July 30. He has not been seen or heard from since.
Adam, who is a Polish national, travelled from Edinburgh to Malaga in Spain on Friday, July 25, then onto Tangier Med before arriving in Chefchaouen.
He planned to return to Scotland on Sunday, July 31 with a stopover in Barcelona. He checked in for the homebound flight to Edinburgh, however, it is feared Adam likely never left Morocco.
Adam's loved ones say possible sightings of him could be on mountain trails and in cafes in Chefchaouen.
Chefchaouen is a city nestled in the Rif Mountains of northwest Morocco. The area is known for being an excellent location for hiking, with the Rif Mountains surrounding the city offering numerous trails.
While the area is generally considered safe for travel, the region has some areas where caution is advised, particularly regarding hiking.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'On Sunday, August 3, we received a report of a 52-year-old man missing from the Edinburgh area.
'He has not returned from a holiday abroad, and we are liaising with the relevant authorities and agencies to help trace him.
'Enquiries are ongoing.'

Paradykes Primary School in Loanhead sent an email to parents warning them about the secret group chat of which nearly 90 pupils were members. The school's head teacher emailed parents on Thursday, August 14, advising 'some of the messages are highly inappropriate, referring explicitly to body parts and requesting nude photos' adding members being encouraged to 'add as many children as possible and not to let parents know'. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The head teacher added: 'I would urge you to check your child's phone and remove them from the group ASAP'. School bosses also suggested that parents report the Whatsapp group and its contents to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection services. One parent said they 'couldn't believe it' when they received the email from Paradykes Primary in Midlothian | Google Maps The revelation has seen some parents call for a ban on phones in schools. One parent said they 'wished the government would do a blanket ban on phones for kids and then it would be a lot easier to manage.' Another added: 'Phones should not be allowed in schools at all, and what a nine-year-old needs with social media is beyond me.' It is understood Midlothian Council has strict security and filter measures installed on council devices to block harmful content and alert staff if needed, however the recently discovered Whatsapp group was created on personal mobile phones. A Midlothian Council spokesperson said: 'The head teacher at Paradykes Primary emailed P6 parents today after a parent reported concerns about the online safety of children on a WhatsApp group. A council investigation confirmed the group was not on council devices. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'The head teacher has passed the matter to the police, and the council will issue guidance to all parents in Midlothian on how to keep their child safe online. Support is available to any Paradykes Primary School pupil upset by this incident, if required.' Police Scotland has been approached for comment.

Second parent shares 'strangling' fears at Scots primary school
The mum, who spoke anonymously to protect her daughter's identity, revealed a series of troubling incidents. A second parent has come forward to claim her daughter fell victim of an 'attempted strangling' at a Scots primary school. The mum, who spoke anonymously to protect her daughter's identity revealed a serious of troubling incidents which saw her daughter, allegedly strangled, choked, threatened with a knife an a abused by a fellow pupil. She said her child had to be regularly taken out of her P4 class due to the violence she faced. And she feared for her daughter who has 'anxiety' about returning to school to start P5, Edinburgh Live reports. 'I feel physically sick at her lack of safety,' the mum said. 'She is terrified, she walks to school and comes home in tears. 'Each day I'm waiting by the phone to hear she has been hurt again. I feel like her education is being failed and they are not interested in taking on my complaint. 'The child who is doing this to her needs proper support. He should not be in a mainstream setting. 'I keep getting told this child is entitled to a state education. So is my child and she currently isn't getting that. They are failing my child.' The latest incident of strangling apparently took place shortly after her daughter had suffered from a broken collar bone which left her in serious pain. Another incident of choking is said to have taken place at the school. 'My daughter has been strangled and choked on two occasions now,' the mum added. 'She was also attacked with Lego. 'The boy threatened her by saying he was going to the canteen to get a knife for her. The way the school handles it also makes her a target for this boy. 'Their classroom is being evacuated all the time due to the boy throwing tables and chairs. He even attacked the teacher and smashed up thousands of pounds worth of equipment. 'He also swears and uses vile language towards my daughter and others. I'm at the stage where I'm considering going to the police as the council and school are doing nothing. 'Her anxiety is through the roof about going back to school. We are speaking to a GP this week for help and advice in regards to what we can do. 'I am an NHS worker and have had to take a long period of time off work to support my child with her needs with the ongoing issues.' Our sister title Edinburgh Live previously reported on violence at the same school. They told how a boy had targeted another girl over the course of the 2024/25 academic year. The mother, who we chose not to name to protect her daughter's identity, has said her nine-year-old has been observed to have PTSD symptoms and suffer from anxiety as well as incontinence as a result of the multiple alleged attacks. On three occasions the attempt to strangle her daughter took place in school with another two taking place at the after school club which the parent has since removed her daughter from. An image shared at the time of reporting showed red marks on the young girl's neck. She also raised concerns about the young boy being found to have snapped cutlery items which were sharpened to points in his school tray at the end of the school year. 'There have been three instances of her being strangled at school and two at the after school club by the same boy,' she claimed. 'After the first incident we were told preventative steps were put in place but it keeps happening. 'On the second occasion I got a call from the deputy head telling me another boy had pinned her down while the same boy strangled her. I was then assured they would be separated and I was confident something would be done as staff seemed understanding. That was until it happened again.' A Midlothian council spokesman said: 'As we would always advise, families should work with the school. We do not comment on individual cases.'
