The ports are to be transformed into global-level, high-capacity hubs, integrated with the modern transportation network - comprising roads, highways and railways - providing the necessary components to position Egypt as a global center for trade and logistics.

Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el-Shenawy said, the meeting also covered updates on the development of seaports, given their central role in the country's development programs.
In this context, the implementation progress of construction, development and upgrading of several ports was reviewed, including Ras Sedr, Gargoub, Abu Qir, the Grand Port of Alexandria, the new El-Max Port, the expansion of Ain Sokhna Port, the construction of Taba Port and development projects at Damietta Port.
The spokesman added that the meeting also took up progress achieved in the fourth metro line in Cairo and the high-speed electric train project. It further discussed efforts to develop industrial zones in Wadi El-Sirriya and El-Motahhara in Minya Governorate and northern Fayoum in Fayoum Governorate.
All efforts are part of broader initiatives to promote industrial development in Upper Egypt and create more job opportunities for citizens, mainly in labor-intensive industries including, textiles, ready-made garments and weaving, according to the spokesman. (MENA)

OPEN// PM: Egypt committed to sustained delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza

CAIRO, Aug 6 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli reiterated on Wednesday Egypt's commitment to the continued delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza, saying the country is exerting a dual effort, sending truck convoys through the Karem Abu Salem crossing and conducting airdrops in coordination with several other nations. He noted that humanitarian aid trucks are still entering through the border crossing, while thousands of tons of humanitarian aid are still waiting near the crossing to complete the procedures for their entry to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Speaking at a press conference following the weekly cabinet meeting at its headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, the premier pointed to the meeting between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Vientamese counterpart during which he highlighted ongoing Egyptian efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. Speaking about the 2025 Senate Elections, Madbouli said Egypt witnessed the Senate elections this week, with voting for Egyptians abroad taking place over two days to be followed by a two-day domestic voting, he said. The Senate is an integral part of Egypt's legislative framework and parliamentary life, representing the "center of thought and the mind of the state," he added. The government's role was limited to organizing the electoral process and ensuring the smoothness of procedures, in full coordination with the National Election Authority (NEA), he said. Madbouli extended his thanks to the NEA for organizing the election. He also praised the high voter turnout, saying citizens were keen to exercise their constitutional right to vote. He stressed that popular participation is a fundamental element in supporting the democratic path and strengthening state institutions. (MORE) A I E/S R E
