'I got no other family': Travis Hunter reveals painful childhood memories days after marrying longtime partner Leanna Lenee

Star athlete Travis Hunter, whose challenging upbringing fueled his drive, recently married his long-time girlfriend, Leanna Lenee. The Tennessee ceremony, featuring a lavish car gift from Hunter, drew mixed reactions online.
Many fans questioned the couple's young age and Leanna's intentions, but for Hunter, this wedding is another personal achievement alongside his ambitious football career.
Travis Hunter opens up about his emotional past
Travis Hunter, a football phenom, embodies duality: a "shutdown corner" with the instincts of a "wide receiver," a "No. 1 recruit" playing with the urgency of an overlooked "walk-on." His early life in a cramped Suwanee, Georgia, motel room with his family instilled a fierce drive to "make it out."
At 14, his family, leaving Boynton Beach, moved to Georgia for a new environment. Hunter's stepfather introduced him to Collins Hill High coaches; initial skepticism quickly vanished. 'When we saw him for the first time in practice, we're like, damn, he isn't lying. This kid is legit,' recalled coach Drew Swick. Hunter's drive stemmed from struggle.

'I couldn't tell you. I mean, I'd be the same person, but I don't think I'd have the same energy and the same, you know, go get,' he shared with Action Sports Jax's Brent Martineau.

He elaborated, 'Once my mom moved me, it was just like, she put me in a space where like I got no other family. It's just me. I got to go to work. I got these four years of high school, get through those. And I got three years of college, get through that.
' This rigorous "work"—early-morning lifts, route-running, and film study—became his foundation.
By junior year, despite his home situation, Hunter was a national recruit.
He moved in with assistant coach Frontia Fountain for stability. 'He needed somewhere to breathe,' Fountain stated, adding, 'Somewhere to grow without survival being the first thought in the morning.'
At Jackson State and then Colorado, Hunter became the "face of a program" through his versatile play. His ultimate NFL goal was clear: 'Once I get to the NFL, got to go into, I can't go no more. And once I'm done with that.
Then I can sit down and relax,' he declared.
Hunter recently celebrated a significant personal milestone, marrying Leanna Lenee. Their relationship, which began with a direct message, saw Leanna support him through his three years in college, present even when he won the Heisman Trophy or during the NFL draft. After being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars, they married last week in a luxurious Tennessee celebration.

The couple wore white, while the wedding party and guests donned all-black suits and dresses. Hunter made a grand gesture, gifting Leanna a Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 Brabus 800. However, the marriage faced intense online backlash, with many questioning Leanna's intentions and labeling her a "gold-digger.'

Cincinnati Bengals' $550 million offense returns for 2025 NFL season with Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins under playoff pressure
Bengals' offense under pressure in 2025 (Image via: Getty Images) The Cincinnati Bengals are back in 2025 with one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL on paper. With Joe Burrow under center, Ja'Marr Chase on the outside, and Tee Higgins lining up opposite him, the Bengals have invested over $550 million into a star-studded offensive core that should dominate the league. But after two straight playoff misses, the heat is officially on. Burrow's MVP stats weren't enough to save Cincinnati's playoff hopes Joe Burrow had a monster 2024 season, throwing for 4,918 yards and 43 touchdowns. Those are MVP-caliber numbers by any standard. Chase continued to be a nightmare for defenders, and Higgins held strong as one of the league's best WR2s. Together, the trio makes up the highest-paid offensive unit in the NFL. But the Bengals still went 9-8 and missed the playoffs, finishing third in the AFC North. Despite an offense built to win now, the results have fallen short. This repeated outcome has left fans frustrated and raised serious questions about the team's ability to perform when it matters most. Joe Burrow shares why Bengals missed the playoffs, does he owe the team another run? | THE FACILITY While the offense has dazzled, Cincinnati's defense has crumbled. In 2024, the Bengals ranked 25th in points allowed and 25th in total yards allowed, numbers that cancel out any offensive firepower. Burrow can light up the scoreboard, but if the defense can't hold, it doesn't matter. To make matters trickier, Trey Hendrickson, the team's best defensive player still doesn't have a new contract. It seems like the Bengals are all-in on their offense, hoping the defense will improve on its own. But so far, that hope hasn't turned into results. This season isn't just another shot for the Bengals, it's a turning point. With a stacked roster, massive contracts, and mounting expectations, another playoff miss could trigger big changes. The front office, the coaching staff, and even this core group of stars could come under fire. Rohit Sharma Reveals Father's Reaction On Test Retirement: 'He Was A Little...'
Last Updated: Rohit Sharma revealed his father was a 'little disappointed' with his Test retirement. Senior India batter Rohit Sharma has revealed that his father, Gurunath, was happy but also 'a little disappointed' when he announced his Test retirement last month. Rohit explained that Gurunath has always appreciated red-ball cricket more than ODIs and T20s, and the longest format has always made him more excited — a love that has only gotten stronger seeing his son go up the ranks to the highest level of the sport. Rohit called off his Test career in the first week of May via an announcement on his Instagram story. Only hours before his decision was made public, reports came through claiming that the BCCI selectors had decided to remove him from Test captaincy ahead of the upcoming five-match series against England in the summer. 'My father has seen me playing a lot of cricket with red ball, obviously," Rohit said at the launch of Cheteshwar Pujara's wife Puja Pujara's book 'The Diary of a Cricketer's Wife' in Mumbai. 'So he appreciates red ball cricket a lot. And then, obviously, he was a little disappointed when I announced my retirement. But was happy as well at the same time. But, yeah, that's my father. And he has obviously played a huge role in wherever I am today. Without their help, it never would have been possible," he added. Rohit revealed that his father was even happier with his cameos in Test cricket than his world-record 264 in an ODI against Sri Lanka in November 2014. 'My father worked in a transport company. Like I said, what my mom did, my father was very much involved in sacrificing things so that we could have our life. But my father always, since day one, has been a fan of Test cricket. He doesn't like this new-age cricket. I still remember that day I scored 264 in the ODI. He was like, okay, well played. Well done. There was no excitement from him. It's important to go out there and all that. But even if I used to get good 30s or 40s or 50s or 60s, in Test cricket used to talk to me about it in detail. So that's the kind of love he had for the game," he added. Rohit retired with 4301 runs from 67 Tests. His family was present — and in tears — when a stand named after him at the Wankhede Stadium was unveiled in a grand ceremony on May 17. First Published: June 06, 2025, 13:11 IST
