BSF destroyed over 118 Pak posts, dismantled surveillance system: Shah
Jammu, May 30 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in the Jammu frontier destroyed and damaged over 118 Pakistani posts and dismantled Pakistan's entire surveillance system during Operation Sindoor post Pahalgam terror attack.
Shah visited Poonch, which bore the brunt of Pakistani shelling, and expressed gratitude on behalf of the 140 crore people of India to all the border guards of the BSF.
Addressing the BSF personnel in Poonch, Shah said whenever there was any attack on India's borders, it was the BSF who faced it first.
In any situation, 365 days a year and round-the clock, BSF personnel remain available, vigilant, and dedicated, he said and emphasized that due to BSF personnel, no attack can directly cause damage within India's borders because the first line of defence is the chest of a BSF soldier.
On this occasion, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, Director General of the Border Security Force, and several other distinguished people were present.
Shah said during Operation Sindoor, while upholding their traditions, BSF personnel deployed at the Jammu and Rajasthan frontiers and the remote Kutch border protected the nation's borders with utmost vigilance.
He noted that when Pakistan attacked residential areas in retaliation for the Indian Army's strikes on terrorists in Pakistan, BSF personnel in the Jammu frontier destroyed and damaged over 118 Pakistani posts. He added that the BSF dismantled Pakistan's entire surveillance system.
Union Home Minister stated that even during peacetime, the BSF maintained a sharp watch on Pakistan's posts, and during Operation Sindoor, based on precise intelligence and in the shortest possible time, they inflicted maximum damage on Pakistani posts.
Shah said that the BSF caused the most damage to Pakistan's surveillance equipment.
He remarked that such bravery is witnessed only when there is pride in the nation, a spirit of patriotism in the heart, and zeal to make the supreme sacrifice.

SPPU to decide on re-exam for student held over social media post next week
Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will take a decision early next week on whether to allow a second-year engineering student, arrested earlier this month over a social media post on Operation Sindoor, to appear for two exam papers she missed while in custody. 'As per the Bombay high court's order, the applicant has been given the liberty to appeal to the university regarding the missed exams. Keeping both the court's observations and the student's interests in mind, we are committed to taking a decision that benefits the student,' said Prabhakar Desai, director, board of examinations and evaluation, SPPU, on Saturday. According to sources, the college is likely to approach SPPU within two days. Desai said that once both the student and the college approach the university through proper channels, a decision will be taken. 'Re-examinations are conducted for students who miss their papers due to valid reasons like health or schedule clashes. This case will be considered under the same norms,' said Desai. The 19-year-old student from Sinhgad Academy of Engineering was arrested on May 9 for allegedly posting pro-Pakistan content on Instagram in response to India's 'Operation Sindoor'. She was lodged in Yerawada jail and missed two of her university exams scheduled on May 24 and 27. KM Gaikwad, vice-principal of Sinhgad Academy of Engineering, said the matter now rests with the university. 'If SPPU instructs us to conduct her pending exams, we will implement it. But the decision lies with the university,' he said.
