Housefull 5 advance booking: Akshay Kumar and gang to see opening with over ₹6 crore, almost 1 lakh tickets sold
Housefull 5 advance booking: Akshay Kumar and his gang are all set to return to the big screen with Sajid Nadiawala's Housefull 5. The much-anticipated film has become a murder thriller this time with multiple endings, featuring multiple killers. It is said to be released on June 6.
Ahead of its release, the advance bookings have predicted the fate of Housefull 5.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Housefull 5 has so far sold 96,304 tickets for 11,700 shows across India in all formats. It has collected ₹ 2.85 crore from its ticket sales.
Considering blocked seats, Housefull 5 is set to premiere with ₹ ₹ 6.87 crore gross earnings.
Regions like Maharashtra and the Delhi NCR dominated the list with maximum revenue of ₹ 1.62 crore and ₹ 1.24 crore respectively from first-day advance booking. Gujarat is right behind them with a revenue of ₹ 64.36 lakh on the list, followed by Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana.
Cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad have the highest number of screenings of the film.
It is believed that the film, the fifth installment in the franchise, will have the widest release with over 5,000 screenings in India alone, as per reports.
Housefull 5 will clash with the Hindi version of Kamal Haasan's Thug Life which will be released a day ahead of Housefull 6's opening.
It will also clash with Maddock Films' Bhool Chuk Maaf, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi.
Meanwhile, film trade analysts are yet to share the early predictions for Housefull 5.
The film features an ensemble cast, including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Ranjeet, Johny Lever and the leading ladies Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa and Soundarya Sharma.
Housefull 5 is billed as the most expensive installment of the Housefull series, and also the most expensive comedy film in India. The film's total budget is to be around ₹ 225 crore, without print and advertisement costs, suggested reports.
However, the makers had shared earlier that the film was initially set with a budget of ₹ 350 crore. The budget came down after going through casting changes.

Housefull 5 Movie Review: Hugely entertaining Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea's performances are ‘jolly' good
Housefull 5 is a bit of an overstretch and sometimes you can find it mindless too, but with Abhishek Bachchan's stunning performance and Chitrangada Singh's swag, I promise you will have a 'jolly' good time. And how can we forget Nana Patekar who adds a dash of thrill to this film. read more Language: Hindi Director: Tarun Mansukhani Cast: Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangada Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Soundarya Sharma, Chunky Pandey, Nikitin Dheer and Johnny Lever Housefull 5 may be illogical for our refined taste for cinema, but don't you think this mindless fun is very important in our mundane life? And what are theatrical releases for? Entertaining, right? Then why go into the story line. Though again it isn't atrocious like our previous theatrical releases in the last few months. It has its share of comedy, thrill, romance and the feel-good factor. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD A still from Housefull 5 Housefull 5 is not just a comedy, it's a murder mystery too and full of suspense. You will be surprised to find out who the actual killer is. Too many actors or rather I would call them entertainers, but it isn't a holy mess. In fact, it has its share of suspense too. A hugely ambitious project, with 19 actors in one film and one frame can get a little annoying, but I assure you there isn't a moment of monotony. The plot starts with billionaire Ranjeet Dobriyal (Ranjeet). This man has a lot of money and lives the life of a king. His 100th birthday celebration was supposed to take place on a cruise, but he passed away just a day before his birthday. Everybody loves Ranjeet Dobriyal for his money. In his will he had mentioned that all his money will go to his son, Jolly, from his first wife. This is quite a shock from his son from his second marriage, Dev (Fardeen Khan) and his board of directors played by Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea and the ever charming Chitrangada Singh. Maya (Chitrangada Singh) knows how to use her charm to her advantage. But Dev (Fardeen Khan) waits for Jolly's arrival. But there are three Jollys Jalbuddin (Riteish Deshmukh), Jalbushan (Abhishek Bachchan), and Julius (Akshay Kumar) that turn up with their wives. The story first revolves around finding the real Jolly. Then there are multiple murders that take place. The movie will transport you to the 90s film, full of fun and some jokes which are sometimes cringe too. A still from Housefull 5 Now talking about the negatives of the film, Housefull 5 has unnecessarily objectified female actors and that too at a very demeaning level. Such fine actors like Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff who are known for their craft have been underused. Looks like the makers were feeling sleepy while writing their characters and hence they fell asleep leaving their stories totally undercooked. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Though the second half is a bit of an overstretch, the movie ends with a solid twist. On the whole, there is nothing that is very immersive about the film. But in an age when Bollywood is suffering from a huge bankruptcy of ideas, this film can be watched at least for once or you can wait for it to release on one of the digital platforms. Rating: 2 and half out of 5 WATCH the trailer of Housefull 5 here:

Thug Life Box Office Collections: Kamal Haasan starrer is Dead on Arrival with a poor first day
Thug Life is a dead-on-arrival at the box office, with the film taking a below par opening and then followed it with poor initial audience reception. The Kamal Hassan starrer grossed a mere Rs. 17 crore approx on its first day at the Indian box office. The film had underwhelming advances, but even they were better than what it has finally ended up with, due to negligible walkup business during the day. Tamil Nadu made up for most of the first day collection with Rs. 13 crore. From advances, it was expected to collect around Rs. 15-16 crore, but it fell significantly short of that. The first day of business in the state is similar to Indian 2. While that film had some numbers outside Tamil Nadu while this has nothing to show for. The film missed out on a Karnataka release due to the controversy surrounding recent remarks made by Kamal Haasan, but even where it was released, it was a non-starter. Thug Life marks the second major disappointment for Kamal Hassan after Indian 2, third considering Indian 3 is already written off. The legendary actor made a comeback to the forefront of the Tamil box office same week three years ago, with a mega blockbuster Vikram. On paper, his follow-up lineup to Vikram looked highly promising, but it has failed spectacularly. Despite the dismal theatrical performance, the producers of Thug Life are insulated from financial loss, as they fetched handsome prices for the non-theatrical rights. The losses will be with those who paid those prices, as they are certainly not going to recover them, and with the exhibition sector, missing action during the peak summer period. The First Day Box Office Collections of Thug Life are as follows:

Housefull 5 movie review: Akshay Kumar leads yet another loud, formulaic farce
Me: Oh brain, braaaain. It's that time again. Dead Silence Me: Don't sulk. You know the drill. Brain: Mmmmph. Me: Oh there you are, gtg, brb. Brain: I thought it's been six years, maybe they had forgotten about the fifth edition of Housefull. Didn't you have enough after the fourth? What kind of a masochist are you? Don't you know when to stop? Me: Who asked for a speech? Just doing my job. Bfn. Groan! Minutes later: Brain: So? Me: Mmmmph. Brain: Hahaha. Spill it. Me: Well, if you insist. There's this luxury liner, and that old lusty fellow, played by who else but Ranjeet, pops it, and leaves his billions to his son, called Jolly. Three Jollys show up, Riteish, Abhishek and Akshay. Each has a wife/girlfriend, can't give you their names because they are all wispy and leggy and silly. There's a fourth son (Fardeen Khan) from a second wife. There's Aakhri Pasta, no need to tell you who plays him, because by now the poor fellow must have forgotten his real name. There's Johny Lever being Johny Lever, and Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff playing Bhidu and Baba or is it Baba and Bhidu. There's also a hulky ship captain. And a doctor who's allergic to peanuts. And Nana Patekar in a dhoti and kurta. Oh, and there's a killer loose. Also Read | Housefull 5 movie release live updates Brain: And? Me: Memory-loss inducing drugs coloured a virulent blue. DNA test labs. Masked murderers. And a rainbow-coloured parakeet. Brain: The same one which got sucked into a vacuum hose? Me: Who knows? All I know that the bird has a bigger speaking part than some of the ladies, but what can you do, there are so many characters, the writers must have had a hard time handing out an equal number of lines to each. But then they must have thought, oh, they're all birds, so that's okay. Brain: Phew. Me: Right. Actually, I have to say that compared to the previous Housefulls, this one has a slightly fuller house, but because no one expects anything else, it's pretty much like the older ones– characters tumbling over each other, crass jokes about body parts and fluids (how can they not be there) abound, and yes, there's that classic climactic human chain, where the entire cast is yelling and screaming and shouting and… Brain: Stop, I'm hurting. Me: You asked for it, so shut it, and listen. Brain: You mean there's more? Me: Well, it did get to the point where it's all a blur, and I managed a nap, and WHY ARE THESE FILMS SO LONG? And Akshay roams around the ship's hallway with a long tail… Brain: Wait what? Me: It's plastic, and a prop, and all the Jollys are in bed with women who are not their wives. One turns out to be a man… Brain: No more. I'm exhausted. How did you survive? Me: The only thing that kept me going was the knowledge that it will all get over, everything does, right? And oh, Nana Patekar has a Marilyn Monroe moment, and the Khalnayak theme song keeps getting played, and Baba and Bhidu keep smirking and skulking, and… Also Read | Housefull 5 advance booking: Akshay Kumar comedy sells tickets worth Rs 9.84 crore, breaks Kesari's record Brain: QUIT RIGHT NOW.
