Tenure of Modi govt will be etched in golden letters in annals of Indian history: Nagaland Deputy CM Y Patton
The Bharatiya Janata Party, Nagaland held a press conference at the Party Headquarters Office, Kohima on Tuesday.
The event is part of the nationwide campaign marking 11 years of the BJP-led Union Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, themed 'Viksit Bharat Ka Amrit Kaal' and 'Seva, Garib Kalyan Ke 11 Saal.'
Addressing the media, Y Patton said, 'The tenure of the Modi Government will be etched in golden letters in the annals of Indian history. This period marks a golden era of 'Sankalp Ki Siddhi'--the realisation of resolutions--for a Developed and Self-Reliant India.'
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 11-year journey has not been walked alone but has been shaped by his dedicated leadership and by honoring the hard work, sacrifices, and aspirations of 140 crore Indians.
'This era of governance under PM Modi has laid a strong and enduring foundation for India's future, driving the nation forward with a renewed spirit of unity, growth, and self-confidence', Patton said.
'Today, under the leadership of PM Modi, where there is technology, there is progress. where there is a BJP government, there is welfare for the poor. Governance is now service. The government is now participative. Good governance is now a culture', the BLP leader remarked.
Patton said 1.4 billion Indians are building a developed India under Modi's leadership. Since Modi became PM, corruption has decreased and good governance increased.
The last 11 years have revived India's culture and heritage, moving India from darkness to light. 'Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai', is not just a slogan, but a ground reality, he added.
Minister of Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along also highlighted the achievements of the NDA government. He acknowledged that condensing the accomplishments of the Modi-led government into a single press conference is nearly impossible. However, he emphasised the core pillars of Modi's governance since 2014 -- Seva (service), Sushasan (good governance), and Gareeb Kalyan (welfare of the poor) -- as the foundation of his developmental vision for India. He underlined the government's commitment to building a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) through these values.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India has entered its 'Amrit Kaal,' an era focused on developing India into a golden age, Along said and added that this period emphasises service, good governance, and the welfare of the poor, with public welfare at the core of all government schemes. These initiatives aim to improve the lives of ordinary citizens and elevate India's global standing.
Over the past 11 years, the Modi government has strengthened borders, boosted the economy, and integrated technology into daily life, Along said and noted that India's economy has risen from below the top 10 in 2014 to become the fifth-largest globally, and is now striving to consistently be the fourth-largest.
Minister Imna Along also highlighted that over the past 11 years, the Modi government has transformed service into a commitment, established good governance as a culture, and prioritised national security, earning global trust.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership during the Amrit Kaal, India has focused on development with an emphasis on public welfare, service, and good governance. He said that the government's schemes aim to improve the lives of ordinary citizens while advancing India's position globally by securing borders, strengthening the economy, and expanding technology access. After failing to finalise a trade deal with India, the US has been targeting the country. However, Washington's threats have had no effect on New Delhi. In the past few weeks, US President Donald Trump warned of heavy tariffs on India for buying Russian oil and doing business with Moscow. Despite this, India's imports of Russian crude have actually gone up this month. Reports say that in August so far, India has been buying about 2 million barrels of oil per day from Russia. It has also emerged that Indian refineries are prioritising economic benefits when deciding on crude oil purchases. Global data and analytics firm Kpler reported that in the first half of August, India imported about 5.2 million barrels of crude oil per day, with 38 per cent of it coming from Russia. During this period, India bought nearly 2 million barrels per day from Russia, up from 1.6 million barrels per day in July, showing a month-on-month increase in Russian oil imports. In the same period, imports from Iraq dropped to 730,000 barrels per day, while imports from Saudi Arabia fell from 700,000 to 526,000 barrels per day. According to Kpler, India imported 264,000 barrels per day from the United States, making the U.S. the country's fifth-largest oil supplier. Kpler's lead research analyst, Sumit Ritolia, said that India's trade with Russia has remained steady. 'India's imports of Russian crude oil have so far stayed stable in August. Even after the Trump administration announced tariffs at the end of July 2025, there has been no drop,' he said. Ritolia explained that this stability is mainly because August's supplies were arranged back in June and early July. He added that if there is any change in the situation, it will likely be visible only in shipments arriving between late September and October. India's clear response to Trump's warning Earlier, Donald Trump had announced a 25 per cent tariff on India, which he later increased to 50 per cent. He claimed that India is trading heavily with Russia and indirectly helping it in the Ukraine war. India, however, called the U.S. tariffs unreasonable and made it clear that it will take all necessary steps to protect its economic and national interests.

If they don't find any issue, then the RSS is brought forward and said that there is friction between the RSS and the BJP. Madhav stressed that while the BJP works in politics, the RSS operates outside it through social service. Madhav's statement comes after the Congress hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for praising the RSS in his Independence Day 2025 speech, calling it an 'insult to the Constitution". Madhav, however, lauded Modi's address, saying it inspired swayamsevaks and recognised 100 years of the RSS service. "Some people, due to political reasons, have always opposed the RSS, for example, some Congress leaders. They opposed for political reasons, but ultimately everyone knew inside them that the RSS works for the Hindu religion and the country, while being away from politics. The organisation is doing the work of making good people, man-making, that everyone knows. In our lower levels of organisation, everyone from diverse backgrounds gets a chance to work," he said. "When I say that from all political backgrounds get a chance, that means the Congress is also included in it, but some people feel that if they oppose the RSS then they will benefit politically," he added. Trump Claims Russia Lost "Oil Client" India, Then Another Tariff Warning
US President Donald Trump on Friday claimed Russia lost India as one of its oil clients after Washington imposed a penalty on New Delhi over the purchases, and warned against the possibility of a similar sanction on Moscow with "devastating" results. The President's remarks came even as New Delhi is yet to confirm any halt in oil purchases from Moscow after Washington announced a 25 per cent duty in addition to a 25 per cent tariffs on Indian goods last month. India condemned the "unfair, unjustified and unreasonable" move that is likely to hit sectors such as textiles, marine and leather exports hard. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said New Delhi would not back down in the face of economic pressure. With this action singling out New Delhi for the Russian oil imports, India will attract the highest US tariff of 50 percent along with Brazil. Both Russia and China, among others, have slammed Mr Trump for exerting illegal trade pressure on India. A Bloomberg report claimed India's state-owned refiners stopped buying Russian crude after Mr Trump's action even though the government is yet to announce any confirmation. On Thursday, Indian Oil Corporation chairman AS Sahney said India has not halted oil purchases from Russia and continues to buy solely on the basis of economic considerations. India became the largest customer of Russian oil in 2022, after western countries shunned Russian oil and imposed sanctions on Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine. According to a report by the State Bank of India, India's crude oil import bill could increase by USD 9 billion this financial year and USD 12 billion in the next, if the country stops buying Russian crude oil. The report also said that India can consider buying oil from Iraq - its top supplier before the Ukraine war - followed by Saudi Arabia and the UAE in the event of cutting off the Russian supplies. Data intelligence firm Kpler Ltd reported Russian crude is being offered to Indian buyers at lower prices as European Union sanctions and threats of penalties from the US cloud the demand outlook, Bloomberg reported.
