I Prevail Part Ways with Founding Vocalist Brian Burkheiser
The post I Prevail Part Ways with Founding Vocalist Brian Burkheiser appeared first on Consequence.
I Prevail and vocalist Brian Burkheiser have mutually parted ways.
Burkheiser, who served as the metalcore band's clean-singing vocalist since its formation, had previously stepped away from the group to battle Eagle's syndrome, an uncommon disorder caused by an elongated or misshapen bone just below the ear, or an issue with a related ligament. The condition causes severe nerve-like pain in the jaw bone and joint, back of the throat, and base of the tongue, triggered by swallowing, moving the jaw, or turning the neck.

I Prevail have already been touring without Burkheiser for some time, with co-vocalist/growler Eric Vanlerberghe handling the lion's share of the singing, backed up by guitarist Dylan Bowman on additional vocals. The band officially confirmed the permanent split with Burkheiser via the following statement in an Instagram post on Thursday (May 15th):
'To Our I Prevail Family:
Today we share that we are mutually parting ways with Brian Burkheiser. This was a difficult decision, but we believe it is the right one and we are all grateful for the 10 epic years we shared together. We wish Brian nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors.
Moving forward, Eric will continue to be the powerhouse frontman you've come to know and love. He'll be backed up live by Dylan who you've seen in this role many times over the years at the shows we've performed without Brian. Rest assured, we will continue to deliver the high-energy shows that we've made a pillar of our band, and we will continue to perform all the bangers from our catalogue. All scheduled shows will go on exactly as planned.
New music coming soon…
See you out there.
Eric, Steve, Dylan and Gabe'
The news comes as I Prevail prep for a major tour as part of the massive 'Summer of Loud' metalcore package alongside co-headliners Beartooth, Killswitch Engage, and Parkway Drive. The outing is set to launch on June 21st in West Palm Beach, Florida, with tickets available here.
Below you can see I Prevail's social media statement announcing the departure of Brian Burkheiser.

Chaney, 43, shared the update with TMZ in a new report that was published on Tuesday, June 3. The actor told the outlet that his son Malachai "moved out of the ICU and into a stabilized room earlier today," the site reported. Thank God, I'm still living. I survived a tornado. My son, he survived. I'm doing a video to let everyone know, cherish life," he said in the May 30 Instagram video, which showed him tearing up. "Cherish life as much as you can." The actor, who shares son Malachai with wife Ayesha Chaney, noted, "I wish he was the one doing the video and I was the one in the ICU." Chris Pratt and Nick Offerman mourn death of 'Parks and Recreation' castmate Jonathan Joss
Chris Pratt and Nick Offerman paid tribute to their "Parks and Recreation" castmate Jonathan Joss following the actor's death this week. Joss was fatally shot in front of his San Antonio, Texas, home on Sunday by one of his neighbors, police said. He was 59. The actor had a recurring role as Chief Ken Hotate in the hit NBC sitcom. "Damn. RIP Jonathan. Always such a kind dude," Pratt, who had his breakthrough role as Andy Dwyer in the series, wrote on his Instagram story on Monday. "Sad to see. Prayers up. Hug your loved ones." Offerman, who starred in "Parks and Recreation" as Ron Swanson, told People magazine on Tuesday that he and other co-stars have been in contact since Joss' death. "The cast has been texting together about it all day and we're just heartbroken," Offerman said. "Jonathan was such a sweet guy and we loved having him as our Chief Ken Hotate. A terrible tragedy." "Sex and the City" star Cynthia Nixon, who was not on the sitcom, also paid her respects to Joss. She shared an image of the late actor on Instagram on Tuesday. "Was devastated to learn of the killing last night of the wonderfully talented actor and musician Jonathan Joss, who my family and I enjoyed so much in Parks and Recreation," she wrote. Nixon also repeated claims by Joss' husband that the actor was targeted because of his sexuality. "We will not let this stand," she said. The San Antonio Police Department said in a statement on Monday there was "no evidence" that Joss' killing was motivated by hate, but said the suspect would be charged accordingly "should any new evidence come to light." Conversations with Joss' neighbors and several police reports of prior incidents between Joss and the man arrested for his killing — Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja — paint a complicated picture of what led to the fatal shooting. Joss and Ceja were in a heated back and forth for years that was being mediated by a police crime prevention unit, according to police records and statements shared with NBC News. Ceja could not be reached for comment. The 56-year-old does not have a lawyer, according to the Bexar County District Clerk's Office. In addition to his role on "Parks and Recreation," Joss was also known for his role as John Redcorn in Fox's animated sitcom 'King of the Hill.' The animated series was rebooted and will premiere on Hulu in August, with Joss returning as Redcorn This article was originally published on
