The "June Olympics," a competition between the Ohio State football players and coaches during the doldrums of summer continued this week. This time around, the competition was dodgeball, something you won't see in the traditional Summer Olympics, but that doesn't matter when we're talking about a battle among friends.
Coming into the contest, the players were on a bit of a winning streak and had a 4-3 lead in the competition. Nobody is really sure when this thing ends, and us on the outside aren't sure what competitions will be a part of all the fund, but it's clear the coaches needed a win to reel things and and tie things up.
Unfortunately for them, the players were able to win once again and now enjoy a 5-3 lead. It's not an insurmountable lead, but one that might prove difficult for the "old guys" to overcome. Here's a look at a snippet of the dodgeball win by the players. Remember, "if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball."
We'll keep an eye on the next "June Olympics" moment and report on whether the players extend their lead or if the coaches can pull to within one point.

David Pollack snubbed from all-time AP All-American teams

The Georgia Bulldogs have seen several world-class football players dawn the red and black. A few of them earned major recognition this week. The Associated Press listed their two All-Time AP All-American teams, and three Georgia Bulldogs were selected. Herschel Walker and Brock Bowers made the first team, while Champ Bailey made the second team. Curiously, former Georgia linebacker David Pollack was left off both teams. To make the All-Time AP All-American Teams, players had to have at least a first-team AP All-American selection on their resume. Pro football careers weren't factored into the consideration. Herschel Walker was a generational running back from the start at Georgia. As a true freshman in 1980, he rushed for 1,616 yards and 15 touchdowns in 274 attempts through 11 games. He was the driving force on offense for a national championship winning team, and he won 1980 SEC player of the year, finishing third in Heisman voting as well. He was also the first true freshman to be named an All-American. Overall, Walker accounted for the most career rushing yards in both Georgia and SEC history (5,259), along with being first among all SEC running backs in career rushing touchdowns (49). He won the 1982 Heisman as well. Brock Bowers was a generational tight end starting his freshman year. In 2021, he had 882 yards and 13 touchdowns, the most touchdowns by a Georgia tight end in school history. Bowers finished fifth in career receiving yards (2,538) and second in receiving touchdowns (26) in Georgia history. Bowers is the first and only Georgia tight end to win the John Mackey award, which he did in 2022 and 2023. Bowers is one of three players to make three All-American teams (2021-23) Champ Bailey made the All-Time AP All-American second team. didn't play much his freshman season (1996), but he made up for lost time. In 1998, Bailey played as a safety, cornerback, and wide receiver for Georgia. He had three interceptions on defense and 744 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 47 receptions on offense. He also returned punts and kicks for Georgia. Bailey was a Consensus All-American in 1998, winning the Bronco Nagurski award for best defensive player in the country. Curiously, former Georgia linebacker/defensive lineman David Pollack was left off the list. During his four-year tenure from 2001-04, Pollack won SEC player of the year twice (2002, 2004), the Ted Hendricks award twice (2003-04, for the best linebacker), the 2004 SEC defensive player of the year and 2004 Chuck Bednarik Award (for the best defensive lineman). Pollack, along with Walker and Bowers, made an All-American team three times (2002-04) in his tenure. Troy Franklin, Bucky Irving dominate in NFL Preseason Week 2 action

We are less than two weeks away from the start of the Oregon Ducks season against the Montana State Bobcats, but NFL action is already underway with Week 2 of the preseason, giving Oregon fans a chance to see some of their favorite Pro Ducks on the gridiron. Week 1 of the preseason gave us great looks at guys like Traeshon Holden, Bo Nix, Jamaree Caldwell, and Noah Sewell. In Week 2, some more famous Ducks got a chance to produce and get in on the action, with the likes of Troy Franklin, Bucky Irving, Tez Johnson, and Derrick Harmon dominating in their respective games. It also gave us our first look at quarterback Dillon Gabriel in a Cleveland Browns uniform, where he looked solid in his preseason debut. Whether it was an established player who received minimal reps or a young gun fighting for a spot on the 53-man roster, the former Ducks provided a lot to look at this weekend. Here's a glance at some of the standout performances. Troy Franklin โ€” Denver Broncos Troy Franklin has been having an incredible training camp in Denver, and he showed that on Saturday night with four catches for 67 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals. It left head coach Sean Payton declaring that Franklin's breakout season is underway, and he has high expectations for the former Duck going into 2025. More: Sean Payton on Troy Franklin's breakout season with Denver Broncos: 'It's happening' Bucky Irving โ€” Tampa Bay Buccaneers We saw a year ago what Bucky Irving could do as a running back in the NFL, but he showed everyone on Saturday night that he can be pretty great as a wide receiver too, splitting out wide and bringing down this impressive TD catch on a dime from Teddy Bridgewater. Derrick Harmon โ€” Pittsburgh Steelers As a first-round pick, there are high expectations for Derrick Harmon going into his rookie season on a dominant Pittsburgh defensive line, and he's proving himself early on, especially wit this bull rush through the Tamba Bay offense, getting home for a sack. Tez Johnson โ€” Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tez Johnson has received a lot of positive buzz from his teammates throughout training camp, and he showed how dynamic he can be on the field, even with the special teams unit, as a punt returner on Saturday against the Steelers. Johnson also finished the day with four catches for 24 yards in the game. Dillon Gabriel โ€” Cleveland Browns Dillon Gabriel had some highs and a couple of lows in his preseason debut with the Browns. His first drive was nearly perfect, with a lot of strikes over the middle and conversions on third downs, leading to a touchdown. However, he later threw a pick-six on a play where his receivers didn't help him out, and was credited with a fumble. Ultimately, he looked solid in the game, but he still has competition to win the starting spot. Deion Sanders updates Colorado's quarterback battle with no urgency to name a starter

With Colorado's season less than three weeks away from kicking off, the question of who will be under center remains. Head coach Deion Sanders addressed the question at the team's fall media day on Friday. The Buffaloes lost their starter from last season in Shedeur Sanders, but they still have two capable starters who have been battling for the spot so far in fall camp. The competition is between Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter and former five-star recruit Julian Lewis. With the battle still playing out, Colorado likely won't name a starter until their Week 1 matchup against Georgia Tech. Coach Prime still had high praise for the former Liberty Flame and even hinted at a new look offense. "Kaidon is a guy with multiple talents, he can throw the football and he can run the heck out of the football... the kid is gonna cause havoc," Sanders said. "It's going to be a totally different type of don't underestimate his throwing ability." Lewis, coming into his true-freshman season, has benefited from Salter, but is not shying away from the competition with the veteran. "He's not scared of the competition, He loves it. He embraces it," Coach Prime said. "I love everything about the kid and he's going to soar when it's his turn." However, despite the battle for the job, Sanders knows that the priority is winning. With Sheduer Sanders under center, the Buffaloes had their best season in years, posting a 9-4 record and a trip to the Alamo Bowl. If Colorado wants to replicate that success, it will be because they are in the best position to do so, and Sanders understands that. he has no urgency to name a starting quarterback as of right now. "I see us winning...I'm not looking that far down the line... and the cream of the crop is going to rise," Coach Prime stated. "Both of these guys can play. I think we could play well with either of them." Regardless of who wins the job for Colorado, Salter and Lewis have given Buffs fans a lot to be excited about this season through their fall camp performances.
