Cong won't return to power in 20 years if relief work goes on like this: Kangana
She added that as an MP, she could only apprise the prime minister of the situation.
'I am deeply pained to see the plight of the people. They have lost family members, houses have been washed away, several people are still missing, but we can only console the families who have lost their kin, and now it is time to provide relief,' the actor said in Thunag panchayat, which was among several place in Mandi struck by a cloudburst incident on Tuesday.
This was Ranaut's first visit to the affected areas of her parliamentary constituency since the disaster struck on June 30.
Her visit comes two days after she publicly clashed with former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Jai Ram Thakur over the issue of disaster-affected areas.
However, on Sunday, both were seen together visiting flood-hit regions in the Seraj Assembly constituency.
During a press conference on Friday, Thakur had refused to comment on Ranaut's absence, saying he wouldn't speak about someone who seemed unconcerned with the people. In response, the MP accused him of advicing her not to visit the area until road connectivity was restored. On Saturday, Ranaut wrote on her X account about her scheduled Sunday visit to the affected areas.
Ranaut on Sunday reiterated her Himachali and Pahadi identity. 'As a Member of Parliament, my responsibility is to secure funds and convey the ground reality to the government. I don't have an independent fund, officers, or a cabinet. I may not always be visible, but I'm a Himachali, a Pahadi, and I am here for my people,' she said.
Taking a dig at the Congress government in the state, Ranaut alleged rampant corruption in the state administration. 'Even in the past, when the Centre sent thousands of crores in disaster aid, the state government misused those. I fear the same might happen again,' she said. 'We must find a way to ensure that relief directly reaches the affected families.'
Speaking to the media, she highlighted the damage caused by the cloudburst. 'Thunag and surrounding areas have been severely hit. Roads are destroyed, and connectivity is disrupted. Our government and the administration are closely monitoring the situation, and relief operations are underway,' she said.
She added that the Centre responded swiftly by deploying the Army for rescue and relief efforts. 'Though the Prime Minister is on a foreign tour, he is fully aware of the situation on the ground, and the central government has swung into action,' she said.
The flood-like conditions in Thunag have left several villages isolated. Restoration of road connectivity remains a key challenge for the authorities.
Ranaut and Thakur jointly assessed the damage, especially in Thunag town, where the fomer met with affected residents and expressed solidarity. She assured victims of all possible assistance from the Centre. 'I will demand a special relief package from the central government and advocate for the rehabilitation and resettlement of the affected families,' she said.

Delhi HC rejects Turkish firm's plea against revocation of security clearance
The Delhi High Court on Monday (July 7, 2025) rejected a plea by Turkiye-based Celebi, an operator at multiple airports across India, challenging the revocation of its security clearance. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Safety (BCAS) on May 15 revoked the security clearance of the firms just days after Turkiye backed Pakistan and condemned India's strikes on terror camps in the neighbouring country. Celebi had contended the Centre's move was against the principles of natural justice and in violation of the procedure under the Aircraft Security Rules. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, had defended the decision to revoke the security clearance of Turkiye-based firms without warning as it was 'dealing with a sui generis situation where there is a potential threat to the country's civil aviation security at various airports...'. Mr Mehta had stated that the firms were involved in ground and cargo handling, with access to aircraft and cargo screening at several airports, including those handling VIP movements — prompting authorities to exercise their 'plenary powers' under the relevant law to take action. Celebi had contended that is has been operating in India for the last 17 years. It said no opportunity was given to the firms before the security clearances were revoked.

‘I may be Marathi but…': Bal Thackeray's old video resurfaces amid Hindi language row, MNS slapgate
Amid the ongoing Hindi language row and the MNS 'slapgate' incident, an old video of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray has surfaced on social media and gone viral. In the video, Bal Thackeray speaks in Marathi, saying that he may be a Marathi in Maharashtra, but he is also a Hindu. 'I may be a Marathi in Maharashtra, but I am a Hindu in Hindustan,' he is heard saying in the video. On Saturday, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray shared the political stage after almost 20 years. Raj claimed that the three-language formula, which the BJP-led state government tried to impose, was a precursor to its plan to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra. After two decades, the two cousins shared the public stage and hosted a victory gathering, titled 'Awaj Marathicha', to celebrate the rollback of two Government Resolutions (GR) issued earlier by the government introducing Hindi as a third language from Class 1 in state schools. 'The Maharashtra Government reversed the decision on the three-language formula due to the strong unity shown by Marathi people. This decision was a precursor to the plan of separating Mumbai from Maharashtra,' the MNS chief said. 'This was an unnecessary issue, and there was no need for it. You may have the majority in the Vidhan Sabha (Assembly), but we rule the streets,' he said. Late on Sunday, 48-year-old shopkeeper Babulal Chaudhary, who runs the 'Jodhpur Sweet Shop' in Mumbai's Mira Road suburb, was slapped and threatened by seven MNS workers because his staff member spoke to the men in Hindi. The MNS workers asked Chaudhary and his staff to speak in Marathi, to which the shopkeeper replied that all languages are spoken in the state. The MNS workers also filmed their assault and posted it on social media. Referring to the assault, Raj said news channels showed that a Gujarati man was assaulted, but his identity was not known to MNS workers when the altercation started. "There is no need to hit anyone without any reason. But if anyone does drama, then a slap has to be given. But they have to be at fault (for doing so).' 'And whenever you do it, do not shoot videos. The person who gets hit must say that he has been assaulted and not the one who hits. This does not mean there is any need to hit anyone,' Raj said.

BRS netas misleading farmers over irrigation projects: Telangana irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy
HYDERABAD: Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday accused BRS leaders of deliberately attempting to create anxiety and confusion among farmers through vicious propaganda, as they are unable to accept the success of the Congress govt and farmers, who achieved record paddy production even without water from the Kaleshwaram project. Former minister T Harish Rao, has made it a habit to spread falsehoods, Uttam said. During the Kharif and Rabi seasons, farmers recorded unprecedented paddy cultivation. The BRS is trying to mislead the farmers almost every crop season since the Congress came into power, he said. Clarifying the situation regarding the Kalwakurthy project, Uttam stated that pumps are typically switched on towards the end of July or the beginning of August each year to supply water for Kharif crops. The same procedure will be followed this year, and farmers should have no doubts. The irrigation plan for each ayacut will be finalised during the SCIWAM (State Level Committee for Integrated Water Planning and Management) meeting scheduled for July 11. The minister also alleged that the conspiracies behind Andhra Pradesh's illegal drawing of Krishna waters have now been exposed.
