Dodgers at Rays picks and predictions
Dodgers 5, Rays 2
Moneyline
PASS.
There's no value here. The Dodgers (-200) are far too expensive to consider, while the Rays (+165) are too risky, especially against a pitcher like Yamamoto.
Run line/Against the spread
BET DODGERS -1.5 (-125).
While Boyle's home numbers are impressive, he has pitched against the Baltimore Orioles, Atlanta Braves and Chicago White Sox, so he hasn't had much resistance. Against the Yankees in his last start, he gave up a season-high 4 ERs. The Dodgers have a similar offense.
Tampa Bay has struggled defensively, allowing at least 5 runs in 4 of its last 5 games. It hasn't scored more than 4 runs in 9 straight games as well.
Back DODGERS -1.5 (-125).
Over/Under
BET UNDER 8.5 (+100).
The Rays have gone Under in 2 straight games. They are 2-5-1 O/U in their last 8 contests and 44-62-6 O/U on the season.
The Dodgers, on the other hand, are 0-8-1 O/U in their last 9, having allowed 5 or fewer runs in each of those battles. In his last 7 starts, Yamamoto is 2-5 O/U.
Take UNDER 8.5 (+100).

A new reliever has entered Comerica Park. The Detroit Tigers promoted right-handed reliever Codi Heuer from Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Aug. 8, before the opener of a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels. The Tigers acquired Heuer from the Texas Rangers at the July 31 trade deadline for cash considerations, then assigned him to Triple-A Toledo. Heuer has not given up a run in two appearances with Triple-A Toledo. SHAWN WINDSOR: Riley Greene is talented but streaky. Detroit Tigers desperately need more consistency To crate space for Heuer, right-handed reliever Luke Jackson was designated for assignment. Removing Jackson opened a spot for Heuer on the 26-man roster, but Heuer was already on the 40-man roster. The 40-man roster is now at 39 players.
