Tom Holland balances Spider Man and 'The Odyssey' as fans predict his role in Nolan's epic

Express Tribune18-02-2025

Tom Holland is at the center of two major Hollywood blockbusters, juggling his commitments between Avengers: Doomsday and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. With both films scheduled to start production in first half of 2025, Holland is facing a significant scheduling conflict.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, a stunt double will step in for Holland in several Avengers: Doomsday scenes due to his obligations to Nolan's epic adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey.
This scheduling overlap has sparked speculation about his role in the Greek mythology film, with fans convinced they have figured out his character.
With Damon confirmed in the lead role, attention quickly shifted to another key character—Telemachus, the son of Odysseus.
Social media erupted with theories, with fans pointing out that Holland's youthful appearance and acting style make him a perfect fit for the role. In The Odyssey, Telemachus embarks on his own journey to search for his long-lost father while dealing with the chaos left behind in Ithaca.
Meanwhile, Avengers: Doomsday is set to begin filming in London in April 2025. Directed by the Russo Brothers, the film will see Holland reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
The highly anticipated film will feature an ensemble cast, including Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Wyatt Russell, Vanessa Kirby, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Anthony Mackie, Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Kelsey Grammer, and Channing Tatum. With a massive scope, Avengers: Doomsday will serve as the conclusion to the Multiverse Saga, leading into Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.
On the other hand, Nolan's The Odyssey will begin filming at the same time, adding to Holland's intense workload. Starring alongside Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Benny Safdie, and Charlize Theron, Holland's involvement in the film is expected to be a significant one. While Universal has not officially confirmed his role, fans remain convinced that he will portray Telemachus, possibly serving as one of the film's primary narrators.
Both films come out next year with Nolans's The Odyssey scheduled for a July 17, 2026 release while Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere on May 1, 2026.

Should Spider-Man Be Selling Beer? Tom Holland's Non-Alcoholic Venture Raises Eyebrows

Tom Holland, known for his iconic role as Spider-Man, has ventured into the world of non-alcoholic beer with his brand Bero. His latest release, Double Tasty, is a West Coast-style IPA, offering a bold, hoppy flavor that mimics its alcoholic counterpart without the buzz. The product arrives just a day after Holland's 29th birthday and is a personal project close to his heart, reflecting his journey into sobriety and desire to create a premium drink that fits seamlessly into any lifestyle. But for a globally adored superhero, is a non-alcoholic beer the most fitting product to launch? After all, superheroes—both in the comics and on the big screen—embody strength, health, and vitality. Holland himself has opened up about his personal battle with sobriety and how he used beer as a way to feel included in social settings. Yet, in a world where superheroes often promote healthier lifestyles, one might wonder why he didn't choose to endorse something more fitting for the health-conscious crowd—say, a protein bar or an energy drink, something that aligns with the fitness trends often seen among athletes and celebrities. Why Beer, Tom? Perhaps it's Holland's own personal connection to beer that influenced his decision, as he recalls how difficult his first year sober was and how Bero could have made his journey easier. Yet, despite the personal connection, there's a larger question about the optics of a superhero launching a non-alcoholic beer. In a world obsessed with health, wellness, and fitness, could Holland have had a bigger impact with a product that promotes physical strength and well-being rather than something associated with social indulgence? A superhero-themed protein shake or bar, for instance, would likely speak more directly to his fans—young, active, and inspired by the superheroes they look up to. A Superhero Identity at Odds with the Brew? On the one hand, launching an alcohol-free beer brand might be seen as a positive move toward offering something inclusive for those who want to join the beer-drinking experience without the risk of intoxication. Holland's venture could normalize sober living, reflecting a more responsible approach to socializing. But on the other hand, there's a chance that a superhero's endorsement of any kind of beer, even one without alcohol, might send the wrong message to younger, impressionable fans. By opting for a brew over, say, a protein product, Holland may have missed an opportunity to align his business ventures with the healthier, more inspiring values that fans associate with Spider-Man. After all, superheroes are often paragons of physical health—launching a product that promotes fitness could have reinforced that image, rather than associating him with alcohol, even if it is non-alcoholic. In the end, Bero's Double Tasty could serve as a thoughtful venture for those looking for a non-alcoholic alternative to traditional beer. But in the realm of superhero brands, perhaps the real question is: should a superhero be selling beer at all?

Fourth installment of 'Meet the Parents' to star Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande has been confirmed to star opposite Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in Universal Pictures' upcoming film, Meet the Parents 4. This announcement marks Grande's next major acting role following her Academy Award-nominated performance as Glinda in Wicked. The Meet the Parents franchise, which includes the original 2000 film and its sequels Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers, has been a commercial success, grossing over $1.13 billion worldwide. While plot details for the fourth installment remain undisclosed, producer Jane Rosenthal told Variety that the story will reflect the characters' aging, noting that Stiller's character is now the same age De Niro's was in the first film, with their children grown up and returning home to meet the parents. John Hamburg, who co-wrote the previous three films, has penned the screenplay and is set to direct the new installment. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on November 25, 2026. Production is overseen by a team including Rosenthal and De Niro through Tribeca Productions, Jay Roach through Delirious Media, and Ben Stiller and John Lesher via Red Hour Films, with Hamburg producing through Particular Pictures. Universal's Executive Vice President of production development, Matt Reilly, and Director of production development, Jacqueline Garell, are supervising the project. Grande's casting is seen as a significant addition to the franchise, especially given her ongoing relationship with Universal. She will next appear in Wicked: For Good, the highly anticipated sequel to the Broadway adaptation Wicked, scheduled for release on November 21, 2025. As a music artist, Grande boasts nine Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits and two Grammy Awards from 15 nominations. As an actor, she has earned critical acclaim with nominations from the Oscars, Golden Globes, SAG, and BAFTA.

Marvel Studios is reportedly interested in casting Bryan Cranston as Professor Charles Xavier in its upcoming X-Men reboot, sources reveal. The potential casting is part of Marvel's broader plan to relaunch the mutant saga within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), set to unfold after the events of 'Avengers: Secret Wars.' Although no official offer has been made, insiders indicate that Marvel has approached Cranston for the iconic role of Professor X. Cranston, known for his dynamic acting range, has previously expressed interest in joining the MCU as a complex antagonist. The forthcoming MCU film 'Avengers: Doomsday,' scheduled for December 18, 2026, is expected to feature returning original X-Men cast members, including Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Professor X and Ian McKellen as Magneto. This ensemble cast will unite with the Avengers to battle the villain Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. While Cranston's involvement remains unofficial, Marvel's casting decisions for the X-Men reboot are anticipated soon after the release of 'Avengers: Doomsday.' Fans of the franchise eagerly await official announcements as Marvel Studios continues to build its mutant universe within the MCU.
