"We will have to look at various options to revise the existing rules and bring in new legislation to ensure punitive action against manufacturers and retailers of adulterated biofuel in the state," the official said.
"A lot of things must be looked at to bring in provisions for stricter action against manufacturers and retailers of adulterated biodiesel. These include what are existing provisions to punish those who indulge in biofuel adulteration.
The question of licence cancellation or having a jail term for the guilty will come only after examining the current situation," he added.
Earlier, rural development and agriculture minister, Kirori Lal Meena, instructed the Biofuel Authority to amend the Rajasthan Biofuel Rules 2019 to include provisions for punitive action against manufacturers and retailers of adulterated biodiesel (B-100) in the state. The minister also directed the officials to formulate effective rules at a competent level.
Meena, in the recent past, conducted a series of raids across the state against the manufacturing of fake fertilisers, seeds, pesticides, and biodiesel. He raided a biodiesel factory in Sirohi recently, where a huge stock of fake biodiesel was found.

Clash at JNU canteen over hygiene, bill row

New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University was once again at the centre of controversy over food on Friday night after a confrontation at the Mughal Darbar canteen spiralled into allegations of poor hygiene, physical altercation and political rivalry. The incident led to JNU Students Union joint secretary Vaibhav Meena locking the canteen, demanding immediate administrative intervention. Mughal Darbar owner Tausif Alam later issued a letter to JNU students apologising for the staff's conduct. The JNU administration refused to comment on the incident. A video of the incident went viral on social media. According to initial accounts, the dispute began over the payment of food bills but quickly expanded into complaints about the quality of food served. Students alleged that the canteen was serving three-day-old vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The verbal spat intensified, and members of ABVP and Left-backed AISA also arrived at the scene, adding a political dimension to the row. Kumar, however, countered that ABVP-linked students were eating at the canteen and a payment dispute led to the altercation, in which three staff members were injured, though none required hospitalisation. "Meena and his supporters locked the canteen and hurled abuses. We demand a fair inquiry and will ensure the canteen is reopened. ABVP's strong-arm tactics will not be allowed on campus," Kumar said. Alam wrote in his letter that he didn't support the misbehaviour of his staff. "Strict action will be taken and such incidents will not recur. This has no communal angle. I follow all JNU administrative guidelines. I was unwell and could not be present," he wrote. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). J'khand gangster set for Aug 22 extradition from Azerbaijan

Ranchi: The Jharkhand anti-terrorist squad (ATS) has got the nod from the Centre to extradite notorious criminal Sunil Kumar alias Sunil Kumar Meena, also known as Mayank Singh, a key member of the Aman Sahu gang, from the Republic of Azerbaijan. ATS has already got permission for the extradition from the state govt in April this year. A team of Jharkhand police, headed by ATS SP Rishav Kumar Jha, will fly to Azerbaijan on Aug 22 to get custody of Singh. Meena, who had previous connections with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi , is accused of extorting victims through international calls for the Aman Sahu gang. The gang is notorious for extortion, murder and other criminal activities across Jharkhand. "This will be the first ever successful extradition in the history of Jharkhand police. Meena was detained in Azerbaijan in Oct 2024 after the ATS filed a chargesheet and issued a look-out notice against him. Following the detention, Azerbaijan requested an extradition file, and the Jharkhand ATS provided the dossier to the Republic of Azerbaijan through the external affairs ministry," Jha told TOI. After submission of the dossier, the Baku Criminal Court of Azerbaijan started a trial against the accused and granted permission for his extradition to India. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Stylish New Mobility Scooters Available for Seniors (Prices May Surprise You) Mobility Scooter | Search Ads Search Now Undo "Following Azerbaijan's nod, CBI, New Delhi, communicated with the ATS, instructing it to undertake necessary actions related to the extradition.
