Nicki Minaj turns down Recording Academy board offer over Grammy snubs

Express Tribune4 days ago
Nicki Minaj recently revealed she declined an invitation to join the board of the Recording Academy, citing her integrity as the main reason.
In a now-viral clip from her Stationhead livestream on July 10, the rapper explained that accepting the position didn't align with her values, especially given her history with the Grammy Awards.
'I appreciated it, I thought that was a very kind gesture, but my integrity couldn't allow me to accept it,' Minaj said. She added that the offer came before the release of her 2023 album Pink Friday 2. The rapper emphasized it wouldn't make sense for her to be on the board of an institution that has never awarded her a Grammy despite 12 nominations.
Minaj also criticized others who might have used such a position for personal gain, claiming many would 'be spiteful to others and not vote for people fairly.'
In the same livestream, Nicki spoke about reaching out to streamers Kai Cenat and Adin Ross to explore the idea of streaming on platforms like Twitch or Kick. She even posted a poll on X asking fans to choose between the two. While Twitch received more fan support, Ross suggested Nicki would thrive on Kick, where creators have more freedom to express themselves.
Adin Ross stated, 'Nicki, come to Kick. You like to speak your mind — you're a queen. Twitch is gonna silence you.' As of now, Minaj has not confirmed which streaming platform she might join.
No official comment has been released by the Recording Academy regarding her claims.

Ronaldo Jr. comments on rising football stars during livestream

Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. sparked discussion online after a recent Twitch stream with content creator 2xRaKai, where he named his father, Cristiano Ronaldo, as his favorite footballer of all time. When asked whether Barcelona and Spain's teenage star Lamine Yamal might eventually surpass his father, Ronaldo Jr. replied, 'He hasn't won anything yet.' The comment quickly drew attention across social media platforms, as Yamal was part of the Spanish national team that won the UEFA Euro 2024 title. At 17, he became the youngest-ever goalscorer in Euro history and played a key role in Spain's tournament victory. Cristiano Ronaldo Sr., now 40, is preparing to represent Portugal in what would be his sixth FIFA World Cup appearance in 2026, a feat no male footballer has achieved before. He previously played in the 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 editions. While Ronaldo Jr.'s statement appeared more supportive than dismissive, it unintentionally overlooked Yamal's recent major international win. The moment has reignited ongoing comparisons between football's most established icons and its emerging stars, a common theme as a new generation of talent rises. Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lamine Yamal continue to draw global attention, one as a veteran preparing for a final tournament, the other as a teenager already achieving major milestones.

Britney Spears sparks confusion with claim she's adopted a baby girl named Lennon London Spears

Britney Spears left fans both puzzled and amused over the weekend after claiming in an Instagram post that she has adopted a baby girl named Lennon London Spears. The announcement, which appeared alongside one of her signature home dance videos, quickly drew skepticism and speculation online. The 43-year-old pop icon shared the post on Sunday, writing, 'I adopted a beautiful baby girl 😉😉😉 !!! Her name is Lennon London Spears 🤪🤪🤪,' while dancing in a pink monokini and boots. She added that the child was wearing a dress with the words 'I'm NEW HERE !!!' Though Spears turned off comments on the post, reactions on other platforms suggest many fans believe she was joking. Sources cited by TMZ later confirmed that Spears did not adopt a child — or even a pet — and was simply 'having fun' online, as suggested by the use of winking and silly-faced emojis. The post comes after a similar claim in December 2023 when Spears said she was moving to Mexico, a statement that also proved false. -Instagram. While some fans initially speculated that Spears may have adopted a pet or a hyper-realistic 'reborn' doll, sources told TMZ that the baby carrier spotted in a previous video is used for transporting her dolls. -Instagram. The Grammy-winning singer has previously been open about experiencing a miscarriage in 2022 during her relationship with Sam Asghari, which may explain the presence of such items. In January, Spears had mentioned a desire to adopt, writing in a now-deleted post, 'I've decided I'm going to adopt a baby girl !!!! I'm actually serious !!!' However, no further steps have been publicly confirmed since. Spears shares two sons, Sean, 19, and Jayden, 18, with ex-husband Kevin Federline. Despite recent personal challenges and occasional erratic social media activity, she continues to maintain a strong presence online — and to keep fans guessing with every post.

Ishowspeed falls for CZN Burak's prank in Turkey

IShowSpeed has become the centre of online discussion after being pranked by a Turkish waiter during his European tour. The streamer, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr., was visiting Turkey when he experienced the popular local 'spilling prank' often performed on tourists. The prank involves a server pretending to spill hot tea or food on a customer, causing panic, only for the customer to realise that the bowls and cups are either empty or attached to the tray. During his visit, IShowSpeed was approached by a waiter holding two steaming kettles. The server then pretended to drop one of the kettles on Speed, prompting him to jump out of his seat in alarm. Realising the kettles were empty, Speed appeared frustrated and shouted at the waiter to 'stop f*cking playing' while others at the scene laughed, including the server and surrounding customers. The moment was captured on video and quickly circulated across social media platforms. 🚨| WATCH: Burak just pulled the BIGGEST JOKE on Speed 😭😭😭🇹🇷 Burak, Speed'e şimdiye kadarki EN BÜYÜK ŞAKAYI yaptı 😭😭😭🇹🇷 — Speedy HQ (@IShowSpeedHQ) July 13, 2025 Reactions to the incident were mixed.
