The projects — the Delhi section of

and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) — are part of the government's larger plan to decongest the capital and improve connectivity across the region.

The PM opened the 10.1-km Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway, built at a cost of around Rs 5,360 crore.
This stretch complements the 19-km Gurgaon section of the expressway, which was inaugurated in March 2024.
The expressway provides multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi convention centre, Delhi Metro's Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station and Dwarka's cluster bus depot.
Alipur–Dichaon Kalan stretch of UER-II
The PM also inaugurated the Alipur to Dichaon Kalan section of UER-II, along with new links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat.
The corridor, developed at a cost of around Rs 5,580 crore, runs from NH-44 (Alipur) to NH-48 (Mahipalpur) via Mundka, Bakkarwala, Najafgarh and Dwarka.
Connectivity and travel time benefits
Officials said the projects will ease traffic on the Inner and Outer Ring Roads and major junctions such as Mukarba Chowk, Madhuban Chowk, Peeragarhi Chowk, Dhaula Kuan and NH-9.
Travel from Singhu border to IGI Airport is expected to reduce from nearly two hours to just 40 minutes.

'Historic gift' for Delhi
Chief minister Rekha Gupta, who reviewed preparations at the site on Saturday, described the projects as a 'historic gift' for the city.
She said the corridors would help move Delhi closer to becoming a traffic-free capital, while also reducing vehicular pollution and contributing to a cleaner environment.
Part of wider plan
The road transport and highways ministry has taken up projects worth over Rs 50,000 crore to decongest Delhi and improve regional connectivity.
Union minister Nitin Gadkari has also announced additional projects to further ease traffic across the national capital region.

Through 'Sramasree', migrant labourers, who have enrolled in the portal, would be provided financial aid of Rs 5,000 for 12 months or till the time they get fresh employment in Bengal. The cabinet has given approval for the scheme to help in the rehabilitation of the migrant workers willing to return,' she said.'This new plan is focused on helping migrant workers return and become economically reliant. Those who return will be provided Rs 5,000 along with one-time travel aid. Until new work can be arranged for them, an aid of Rs 5,000 per month will be given. The Labour Department will be the nodal department for this,' she said. 'During Covid, we had supported the migrant labourers through various schemes.''Migrant workers from Bengal, who are working outside and those who are enrolled in the migrant workers portal (Karmasathi), will get the aid,' she said. Those who are returning can get in touch with the Migrant Workers Welfare Board or through 'Karmasathi', she said.'In addition to financial aid, migrant workers will get 'Khadya Sathi' cards. The administration has been instructed to provide this and the chief secretary will monitor the process. 'Swasthya Sathi' cards will also be provided. If they do not have a house, a community kitchen centre will be set up. Arrangements will be made for their children to enrol in local government schools to ensure their education continues without interruption. The migrant workers will also be enrolled in other schemes of the state government as well,' Banerjee said. 'The primary aim of this initiative is to bring back our migrant workers and help them get a livelihood and make them financially independent. We have 'Utkarsha Bangla' scheme too, where we give skilled training. Those who return will be assessed to identify the skills they possess, and training will be given wherever required,' Banerjee claimed that around 22 lakh migrant labourers and their families have been working outside Bengal. 'In states with double-engine governments, there is attack on Bengali speaking people,' she said.'These workers, if they return, will be provided work under the Karmashree scheme and given job-cards. We have given work to 78 lakh job-card holders under this scheme and over 91 crore man-days have been created. The state has spent Rs 19,000 crore for this scheme,' Banerjee stated.

Bihar SIR row: Election Commission invites claims, objections on Bihar draft rolls till Sept 1- How to file claim?
NEW DELHI: The Election Commission on Monday said all eligible electors left out of Bihar's draft electoral roll published on August 1, 2025, can file their claim in Form 6, along with a copy of their aadhaar card, before September 1. Similarly, if any ineligible elector has been included in the draft roll, any aggrieved elector of that assembly constituency (AC) can file specific objection in Form 7 within the same deadline. However, if the aggrieved person is not an elector from that AC, he will be required to file a specific objection, along with declaration/oath as per Rule 20(3)(b) of the Registration of Elector Rules, 1960 (RER). It is the same declaration that EC has been asking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to submit. EC on Monday shared that no applications have been received by the electoral registration officer (ERO) from any person other than electors of that assembly constituency under Rule 20(3)(b) of RER, 1960.
