Daily Mail29-04-2025
Carrie Underwood stunned fans at the start of Monday's new episode of American Idol by donning a familiar dress from two decades ago.
The 42-year-old singer emerged victorious over Bo Bice almost exactly 20 years ago in late May 2005, with Underwood bringing a piece of that episode to Monday's new episode.
When host Ryan Seacrest mentioned that her outfit looked familiar, she confirmed that it was in fact the same orange dress she wore in the Season 4 finale.
'Yes, this is my finale dress. Yes. The old girl's held up pretty good,' Underwood told the crowd at the start of the episode.
Fans were just as stunned as Seacrest, with many taking to social media during the episode.
Franky (@RKOBlackSwan) tweeted, 'OMG. The judges are coming out to Inside Your Heaven and she's wearing the same dress as when she won. Hot!
Abbey Jones (@AbbeyJones11) simply tweeted, 'Carrie's dress!!!!!,' recognizing the orange dress from two decades earlier.
Molly (@MollyVegas) shared an image from the Season 4 finale 20 years ago, adding, '@carrieunderwood IS WEARING THE DRESS!!! #AmericanIdol.'
Kelly (@KellyHart278) @carrieunderwood is wearing the dress she was wearing when she won @AmericanIdol she is my favorite American Idol winner.'

Kelly Clarkson to make return to TV after death of ex-husband

Kelly Clarkson is make an emotional return to TV just weeks after the death of ex-husband Kelly Clarkson is to make emotional return to TV after death of her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. The singer, 43, has been absent from screens since Brandon passed away following a battle with cancer earlier this month at the age of just 48. ‌ The Behind These Hazel Eyes songstress, who came to prominence as the inaugural winner of American Idol more than 20 years ago, will be seen in the first of a four-part series called Songs & Stories that was filmed before she was dealt with the personal tragedy. The NBC programme will explore the history of famous songs, and Kelly will be seen alongside The Jonas Brothers when it premieres on Tuesday night, whilst Gloria Estefan, Teddy Swims and Lizzo, amongst others will appear further down the line. ‌ At one point in the show, Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas, will remember trying to get noticed by claiming they had opened for Kelly on tour in 2005, and then name-checked her in their version of the Busted classic Year 3000, which came after they had found fame on Disney Channel alongside the likes of Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato. ‌ Reacting to the name check, which saw the boys claim that their song had 'outsold Kelly Clarkson' in the fictional context of the lyrics, Kelly said: "It was in a meet and greet and somebody [said], 'Did you hear the Jonas Brothers song?' and I was like 'What, no?' and they were like 'They say your name!' and I was like 'What! was like, 'That's so cool to be referenced in any way in pop culture — I love it.'" In turn, Nick recalls: "For like years as a way to get our foot in the door in interviews we'd be like, 'Yeah we opened for Kelly Clarkson. We were not an opener — we were like in a parking lot on the B, B, B, C stage." Joe adds: "I handed out valet tickets!" The group will then be seen giving an acoustic rendition of the song, which they released in 2006 before performing it as special guest stars on the Hannah Montana: Best of Both Worlds concert the following year, and Kelly jumps up out of her seat when her name comes around. Kelly, who has River Rose, 11, and nine-year-old Remy with Brandon, was recently said to be taking time out of her career so she can focus on spending time with her children. As well as her career as a singer, the star has found success as the host of her eponymous talk show but filming is on hold for the coming weeks. ‌ A source told UsWeekly: "It has been draining, exhausting, emotional [and] devastating A big part of it was making her schedule available for transporting the children to visit Brandon, and all of the emotions that came with this difficult time. Kelly is a workhorse. "Hard work is all she knows. She hates disappointing people, truly. The thing that kept her going was knowing how many people depend on her, like her crews and employees. Her kids come first, and she will find a way." According to the insider, Kelly will make a comeback to her NBC television show at some point in the fall. A representative for the family told PEOPLE in a statement that Brandon had been diagnosed with cancer over three years ago. They said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away."Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."

Kelly Clarkson's ex Brandon Blackstock's cause of death revealed

Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's official cause of death has been revealed. Last week it was announced that the ex of the American Idol star, 43, had died at the age of 48. 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,' a representative confirmed to People. 'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.' A few days on the publication reported his official cause of death. 'Brandon Blackstock passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana on August 7th under hospice care surrounded by his family,' Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis said, confirming that Blackstock's cause of death was melanoma, a form of skin cancer and that the manner of death was natural causes. The document has now revealed that Blackstock had cancer for three years before his death. Seizures were also listed as 'significant conditions contributing to death but not resulting in the underlying cause.' Blackstock was a talent manager, who once managed Blake Shelton and Clarkson, and was also the former stepson of Reba McEntire. His death certificate listed his occupation as a rodeo producer in the rodeo industry. It also revealed that no autopsy was performed and Blackstock was cremated. Clarkson and Blackstock began dating in 2012 before tying the knot in 2013. News of his death was revealed publicly just a day after she announced the postponement of the rest of her August Las Vegas residency dates in order to look after the former couple's daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9, saying that her ex-husband had been 'ill'. Clarkson and Blackstock announced their split in 2020, and a bitter divorce battle followed, finalising in 2022. In recent years, he had settled in Montana to focus on founding Vallet View Rodeo, going 'under the radar' following his career in show business. 'He was at home in Montana,' a source told US Weekly, reflecting on his last weeks alive and death. They said he spent 'more [time] than ever before' with his family while undergoing treatment during the last six months of his life. Clarkson was not caring for Blackstock, they said, but she made sure their children, River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, nine, spent time with their father. 'She did spend a lot of time traveling with her kids to be with him,' the insider shared. 'He loved having his family with him and loved when the kids would visit,' the source said. 'He loved his animals and that was a passion he shared with his daughter Savannah.' Blackstock also has two children – Savannah, 23, and Seth, 18 – with his ex-wife, Melissa Ashworth, from whom he split in 2012. Savannah, who announced her second pregnancy just weeks before her father's death, was allegedly 'with him almost all the time' in the end. 'She has been having an incredibly difficult time. They were very close. Everyone is in shock,' the insider said. They continued: 'Even a few months back he looked okay. He looked thin but he looked like himself. No one can believe it.' Clarkson, 43, cancelled dates in her Las Vegas residency ahead of the news to 'be fully present' with her children. More Trending 'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,' she wrote on social media. 'I appreciate your grace, kindness, and understanding.' While Clarkson is yet to comment publicly on the death of her former husband, it's believed she is 'devastated', especially for her children. 'When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake,' a source told People. View More » 'Kelly has always tried to keep things classy. Country music icon, Dolly Parton, has reached out to American Idol star, Kelly Clarkson, after the death of the singer's ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, 48 Dolly Parton has offered her friend Kelly Clarkson some words of advice after the tragic death of her ex-husband. Brandon Blackstock died last week, aged 48, after losing his battle with cancer; five months after Dolly's husband, Carl Dean, passed away, leaving the Jolene star heartbroken. ‌ Dolly shared her words of wisdom for Kelly shortly after her friend and fellow country singer Reba McEntire — who was Blackstock's former stepmother — broke her silence about his death. ‌ Reaching out to Reba and Kelly, Dolly advised the women to focus on the happier memories they have of Brandon. It comes after it was revealed that the talent manager was in a relationship with Kelly's former assistant before he died. ‌ READ MORE: Ozzy Osbourne's 'played prank' on daughter Kelly at funeral from beyond the grave Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Dolly said: "I think that you just have to be grateful for the years that you've had with someone, and just try to remember the very best of all that." She also suggested that those dealing with grief should take the "energy" from those better times in the past and "just recycle "that' and "let that become a part of you." ‌ Dolly added that Kelly, who shares two children with Brandon, whom she was married to for seven years, should "honour" his memory, concluding that the star should take comfort in knowing that their loved ones "are in a better place than we are these days." When asked if she had spoken to Kelly since Brandon's death, Dolly admitted that she hadn't yet but would "catch up with her" because "I love Kelly." ‌ She explained: "No, I have not," adding that she had been busy promoting her new memoir Star Of The Show: My Life On Stage. "But I will, I'll catch up with her," Dolly added. The star also said that she would have a chance to see Reba soon, as they were going to be working together to sort out publicity for her new book. ‌ "I love Reba and I love Kelly," Dolly declared, before explaining into how difficult it is to keep up with her friends and their busy show business schedules. In March, Dolly suffered her own tragedy when her beloved husband, Carl, died after nearly 60 years of marriage to the 9 to 5 star. In a tearjerking tribute, Dolly looked on the "many wonderful years" the pair spent together as she shared deep love for Dean and thanked fans for their prayers. She said: "Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy." The couple had been married since 1966.
