Family home's horror-themed interior stuns the internet - realestate.com.au

Mercurya day ago
A seemingly normal family home in Florida has sent the internet into a spin, thanks to an interior design scheme that's, well, unconventional to say the least.
Initial images circulating online depicted a property that appeared unassuming from the outside.
However, stepping inside reveals an interior reminiscent of a low-budget horror film, complete with a hallway adorned with fake leaves and severed hands, and a bathroom seemingly splattered with blood.
'Hello, 911? I would like to report a crime, a fashion emergency, and a decor abomination,' one Reddit user quipped, perfectly capturing the initial wave of online shock.
Another wondered: 'That was a lot. Did somebody get murdered in there, or is that bathroom decor intentional?'

Followers of @whatthecrazyhouse on Instagram also didn't hold back, with many describing it as the worst interior they had ever seen.
'I thought it was a pirate theme. Then comes the murder bathroom,' one person commented.
'What happened in that bathroom? Menstrual cycle gone wrong?' another follower mused.
Indeed, for a brief moment, the Lin Haven, Florida, property was being labelled a 'murder house' faster than you can say 'Netflix true crime documentary.'

But this story has a twist.
Just when the internet was reaching for the holy water, another Reddit user revealed that the owners were actually 'sweet, creative people' who intentionally designed the house as it stands.
It turns out, the couple had transformed the place from a rather uninspiring 'grandma house' after it sustained damage from a hurricane.
Suddenly, the narrative did a complete 180. What was initially perceived as a decorating disaster was now being celebrated as a bold, individualistic statement. It seems one person's 'abomination' is another's work of art.
In a YouTube video, owners Lucas and Sarah, who sold the property in May for $381,439 (US$248,600), offered a tour of their unique creation.
Lucas explained that the 1957 house had good bones but desperately needed a shot of personality when he purchased it in 2011.
'We're both creative types,' Lucas said, 'and we wanted a more creative space.'

Sarah added that they drew inspiration from theme parks and movies like The Addams Family and Indiana Jones, aiming to create a home with 'more excitement, action, (and) adventure.'
And they certainly delivered.
The tour revealed a series of themed rooms that were more over-the-top than a Las Vegas showgirl.
The master bedroom featured red and black stripes and a ceiling fan that could induce motion sickness.
A bookcase swung open to reveal an old-fashioned bathroom with a high-tank pull chain toilet (good luck finding one of those at your local hardware store!). And a hidden disaster shelter, accessed through a mirror, provided refuge during Hurricane Michael.
As for the infamous 'blood bathroom'? Lucas confessed it started as a temporary fix for dated pink tiles but evolved into a full-blown horror movie tribute.

Other highlights included a 'phobia room' designed to trigger your deepest fears, a 'castle room' with foam wall panels, and Sarah's office featuring skull-print wallpaper and a ceiling that's more precise than a Swiss watch.
But the pièce de résistance? The 'man cave' transformed into an actual cave, complete with spray foam walls, stalactites, and tree roots.
The kitchen, with its black cabinets and mirrored backsplash, sealed the deal on the home's gothic vibe.
So, while this Florida home might not be everyone's cup of tea, it's a fascinating reminder that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And sometimes, the most outrageous creations are the most unforgettable. Hats off to them!

Credit: Supplied Taylor Swift has made a loving shout-out to Australia while discussing her new album on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's sports podcast. The global megastar made her podcast debut on New Heights alongside Kelce and his older brother Jason, where she revealed details about her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, to be released on October 3. Swift also spoke about her life after her huge Eras tour wrapped up in December last year, which involved performing in 51 cities across 21 countries. 'It feels great to be honest, Jason, I'm not going to lie,' she said. 'I do miss it, but it was perfect for what it was.' Swift said she loved being able to visit so many places with her boyfriend in tow. 'What was really fun about all the countries we went to is when we first started dating (Travis) was like I always really wanted to go on vacation in Europe, see Australia, go to Asia and I was like well, I got a tour for that, it's coming up,' she said. 'We got to travel the world, have vacations and adventures when I wasn't on stage, which was really fun because Europe was so fun, Australia is amazing, yeah, it was great.' Credit: Unknown / Instagram The two-hour podcast also saw Swift fight back tears when she spoke about the emotional saga of reclaiming her master recordings after she re-recorded her first six albums. Swift sent her mum and brother to LA to negotiate with Shamrock Capital, the owners of her music, on her behalf. She explained how Kelce was playing video games when she found out she had bought the rights back, and the NFL star even started weeping when he was told the news. 'I haven't gotten my hopes up about this in a decade. A couple of months after the Super Bowl, I was in Kansas City,' Swift said, adding she had been saving to buy her masters since she was a teenager. 'I get a call from my mum. She's like, 'You got your music.' I very dramatically hit the floor for real. Bawling my eyes out, weeping, like 'Really?' I said to myself 'Go tell Travis in a normal way'. 'He was playing video games, and he put his headset down. I was like 'I got my music back!' And I was heaving crying. This changed my life.' Kelce said he had listened to all the new songs on TS12 and told fans they should prepare for some 'bangers that are upbeat, pop and excitement'. 'This album is going to make you dance,' he said. Swift was the most requested guest in the history of the New Heights podcast.
