The Seattle Seahawks have completed two practices at training camp. A slew of undrafted free agents are attempting to make the 53-man roster. One of the early standouts has been former Ole Miss defensive lineman Jared Ivey.
The ex Rebels standout was named Third-team All-SEC in 2024. Ivey made 12 appearances with 11 starts, recording 42 tackles, 10.5 TFLs, and seven sacks. Ivey participated in the Senior Bowl, where the Seahawks had a front-row seat to his skill set.
The Bleacher Report recently wrote an article outlining one undrafted free agent capable of making the roster for all 32 teams in the league. They chose Ivey for the Seahawks.
"Jared Ivey should fit well into the Seattle Seahawks defensive front, which makes him an ideal candidate to make the roster after going undrafted," Brent Sobleski wrote. "He carried a top-100 ranking by the Bleacher Report Scouting Report throughout the previous draft cycle despite testing poorly."
"Overall, Ivey can at least be a good two-down player who is a starter during his rookie contract, especially as an even front defensive end," B/R scout Matt Holder wrote. "How much he'll be able to contribute as a pass-rusher is questionable, but a team that already has a good pass-rush specialist on the edge and is willing to work with him on the interior should be intrigued by Ivey's game."
It's worth monitoring Ivey's progress at training camp. His inside-outside versatility would be a welcome addition to Mike Macdonald's defensive line.

What does Zach Allen's new 4-year, $102M deal with the Broncos mean for Jalen Carter?

Zach Allen's new 4-year, $102 million contract with the Broncos could ensure a $30 million per year average for Eagles DT Jalen Carter The Broncos' No. 1 defensive tackle has signed a new deal, and it could have an enormous impact on Eagles third-year star Jalen Carter. Denver and Zach Allen have officially agreed to terms on a four-year, $102 million extension, Adam Schefter reported. The deal comes with $69.5 million in guarantees, and Allen is now under contract with the club through 2029. The highest-paid list Allen's $25.5 million per year average puts him at No. 2 on the highest-paid list, behind Carter's former Eagles teammate, Milton Williams. Comparing Allen and Carter According to Evan Kaplan, Allen's 50 pass rush wins when lined up as a defensive tackle were by far the most in the NFL. Next closest were Chris Jones and Quinnen Williams, with 34 each. The 28-year-old had a breakout campaign in 2024, logging 8.5 sacks and leading all defensive tackles in the NFL with 67 pressures, according to Next Gen Stats. Allen (6-5, 285 pounds) originally entered the league as a third-round pick out of Boston College with the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. After four years in Arizona, Allen hit free agency in 2023 and signed a three-year, $45.75 million contract with the Broncos. Allen made an instant impact in Denver, recording 60 tackles, 24 quarterback hits, five sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup in 17 starts in 2023. Carter earned second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors during the Eagles' Super Bowl LIX-winning campaign in 2024. The former Georgia All-American led the Eagles' defense in pressures (45), QB hits (16), and TFLs (12), becoming the youngest DT (23 years old) in franchise history to garner Pro Bowl accolades. Carter ranked 4th among interior DL in Pro Football Focus pass-rush grade (81.5), behind Chris Jones (91.0), Cameron Heyward (87.2), and JefferySimmons (81.6) in that category (min. 400 pass-rush snaps).

UNC football flips 4-star class of 2026 recruit from SEC program

The Tar Heels earned a major football recruiting victory on Friday afternoon. The North Carolina Tar Heels, exactly a month away from the start of their highly-anticipated 2025 football season, continue to make positive impacts in their 2026 recruiting class. This time, UNC's latest addition involves stealing a talented recruit from a regional SEC program. On Friday afternoon, class of 2026 tight end Carson Sneed flipped his commitment from Tennessee to North Carolina. Sneed's flip now gives the Tar Heels 35 commitments in their next recruiting class, which ranks nationally and continues to grow. The 247Sports Composite rankings tab Sneed, a 4-star recruit, the 13th-ranked player from Tennessee, 18th-ranked tight end overall and 404th player nationally. Sneed is following in the footsteps of his older brother, Dayton, who transferred to North Carolina in April – from the Volunteers. UNC currently lacks a true number one tight end on its roster, but former Texas A&M transfer Jake Johnson is poised to be the top 2025 guy in Chapel Hill. Outside of Johnson, collegiate experience drops off, but Arkansas transfer Shamar Easter was amongst the 2023 recruiting class' top-ranked players. Currently a 2-way player at Donelson Christian Academy in Nashville, Sneed is coming off a junior season in which he caught 33 passes, adding 409 yards and six touchdowns. On defense, Sneed recorded 44 tackles, 10 TFLs, three sacks and an interception. With Bill Belichick now leading the Tar Heels, recruits want to play in Chapel Hill.
