Fit India Sundays on Cycle Pandharpur Edition 2025 sees over 5000 cyclists
This mega event of Fit India Sundays on Cycle was jointly organised by the Sports Authority of India, Regional Centre - Mumbai, and the Pandharpur Cycle Wari Sangh.
Over 5000 cyclists representing more than 90 cycling clubs from across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya pradesh participated in the event. These dedicated cyclists undertook a journey spanning 400 to 450 kilometres, starting 3-4 days in advance, to reach the holy town of Pandharpur, Solapur district in Maharashtra.
They actively took part in the spiritually significant Nagar Pradakshina and the energetic Ringan Sohala, showcasing exemplary determination, devotion, and endurance.
The event was honoured by the esteemed presence of several dignitaries like Raksha Khadse, Union Minister of State for youth affairs and Sports J B Gore, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Govt of Maharashtra.

The Railway Ground, Pandharpur, was transformed into a vibrant centre of energy and inspiration under the Fit India - Sundays on Cycle banner. The event conveyed a powerful message promoting sustainable transport, community health, and spiritual unity, reinforcing that cycling is not just a sport but a way of life aligned with a healthier and greener India.
Echoing the spirit of the Fit India Movement, the event promoted the national fitness mantra: 'Fitness Ka Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz' , encouraging every citizen to embrace physical activity as a daily habit and contribute to building a fitter, environmentally conscious nation. (ANI)

Mysuru (Karnaka) [India], August 16 (ANI): Mangaluru Dragons secured a 16-run win over Hubli Tigers as they played out a nail-biter at the Shriram Capital Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 at the Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Stadium. Macneil Hadley Noronha and Aneesh K V helped the Dragons notch up a formidable score of 195 in the top-of-the-table clash. Followed by a brilliant four-wicket haul from Kranthi Kumar to secure the victory over the Tigers. The Dragons struck early in the first innings when Lochan S Gowda (5) was run out by Taha in the first over. In the third, Sharath Belur Ravi fell for 2, to Achar. However, opener Macneil Hadley Noronha (56) steadied the innings with a fluent knock studded with four boundaries and two sixes, forging a 107-run stand in just 77 balls with Aneesh KV (62). Trying to accelerate in the 15th over, Aneesh perished on the first ball of Nithin Shanthaveri's spell. Aadarsh Prajwal S (19) came in swinging, but Noronha's dismissal soon after, caught by M D Taha, stalled the Dragons' charge. Nithin then removed Aadarsh to leave them wobbling at 147/5 in the 17th over. Shivaraj S (16) and Kranthi Kumar (30) wrestled back momentum by smashing Nithin for 21 runs in the next over. Manvanth Kumar L responded with a tight 7-run over, but the Dragons' lower order roared back, with Shivaraj and Kranthi adding 48 off just 17 balls to push the total to a commanding 195. Hubli's chase began in dramatic fashion as in-form M D Taha (0), fresh off back-to-back centuries, fell for a duck in the first over, caught off Shreyas Gopal. Impact player Prakhar Chaturvedi provided the impetus, but departed for 37 in the sixth over with the Tigers at 72/2. Shubhankar Sharma needs strong second round to make cut
Copenhagen [Denmark], August 16 (ANI): Shubhankar Sharma opened his campaign at the Danish Golf Championship with an even-par 71 at the Par-71 Furesø Golf Klub, leaving him tied for 70th and in need of a strong second round to make the cut. The Indian golfer, who has not made a cut since the Indian Open in March, will be eager to turn his fortunes around and extend his week in Denmark. Veer Ahlawat carded a 2-over 73, placing him tied for 113th and facing an uphill task to progress, as per a press release from the Danish Golf Championship. Sharma began well with a birdie on the sixth but faltered with three straight bogeys from the eighth to the tenth. He recovered with birdies on the 12th, 16th, and 18th, offsetting a bogey on the 14th to finish level par. At the top of the leaderboard, England's Marco Penge produced a flawless bogey-free round of 7-under 64, setting a new course record and taking a two-shot lead. His round featured birdies on the third, sixth, 11th, 13th, and 14th holes, capped by an eagle on the 18th. Mahesh Bhupathi sees bright future for Padel sports
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 15 (ANI): Legendary Indian tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi believes padel sports is growing rapidly and will generate a lot of excitement within the sports ecosystem over the next five years around the world. After making a successful India debut in February this year, the World Padel League (WPL) organised its much-anticipated third season. The league, supported by the Indian Padel Federation, will be held between August 12 and August 16 at the Nesco Centre in Mumbai, promising fans world-class padel action.'Padel sports is growing rapidly and will generate a lot of excitement within the sports ecosystem over the next five years. We would love to see Indian players participating in the World Paddle League in the future, and we are also trying to create an angle where the Indian team can play against each other," Mahesh Bhupathi told reporters. On Day 3 of the WPL, there were dominant displays and nail-biting finishes. The Khan Tigers powered past Vernost Jaguars in a commanding 19-10 victory, while the defending champions SG Pipers Cheetahs held their nerve to edge out Vedanta Leopards in a thrilling 15-14 contest, sealing their spot in the semi-finals alongside Game Changers Lions and Hubtown Panorama Panthers on Friday. The Tigers got off to a flying start in the women's doubles, with Alejandra Salazar and Veronica Virseda crushing Lucia Martinez and Giorgia Marchetti 6-0.
