Barker, 69, is a legend at the All England Club, competing in 12 Wimbledon Championships as a player.
The former French Open winner then spent three decades hosting the BBC's broadcast coverage of the iconic tournament.
But there was one incident that saw her breach the strict All England Club protocol.
Barker revealed in her book Wimbledon, A Personal History that she made the blunder during the opening ceremony of the Centre Court retractable roof in 2009.

The former BBC anchor conducted proceedings - with some of tennis' greats in attendance.
But she was called out by Katherine Jenkins for her faux pas.
Welsh singer Jenkins stunned the crowd with an emotional rendition of Amazing Grace as the roof moved across and then followed it up by singing Bryan Adams' (Everything I Do) I Do It for You.
Then she called Barker out for her mistake - after spotting the former British No1 wearing heels on Wimbledon's hallowed Centre Court turf.

Jenkins approached Barker and said: "But I was told I couldn't wear heels."
Barker wrote in her memoir: "She was wearing a pink lace strapless dress and lovely sparkly little flip-flops.

"So the first part of our interview was me trying to pretend that I wasn't really in heels.
"You know, because obviously the rules are that you're not allowed to wear heels on the Centre Court grass. It was hugely embarrassing."
Incredibly, a decade-and-a-half later, Jenkins reminded Barker of her blunder - in front of tennis great Billie Jean King.
Barker added: "Without so much as a hello, Katherine pointed me out to her husband like she was identifying a criminal in a police line-up.
"She blurted out, 'SHE broke the rules on Centre Court.'
"That was 2009 – nearly 15 years ago – and her first association on seeing me again was to recall my illegal high heels.

"But we had a lovely chat, another really special time just relaxing with someone rather than the fleeting catch-ups I had when I was relentlessly working."
Barker hung up her microphone and retired from the BBC hosting gig in emotional scenes in 2022.
She returned in 2024 for Andy Murray's farewell ceremony.
And then for this year's Championships, Barker fronted an advert for Emirates as she checked the height of the nets, the length of the grass, the colour of the flowers, the cleanliness of the staircase and the bounce of the balls on the courts - before finishing off the clip with a spot of afternoon tea at the All England Club.
The former Question of Sport host has largely remained out of the public eye since her BBC departure.
And that meant she turned down the chance to front Sky Sports' tennis coverage of the ATP and WTA Tours.

MasterChef is back on TV screens with its 21st series after its hosts have been embroiled with controversies. Yet another MasterChef controversy has arisen as viewers spotted the awkward moment TV bosses edited out a contestant from the cooking show. Long-time hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode were axed following individual controversies of sexual misconduct and racism respectively, but the new series is still airing on the BBC. More than 40 historic complaints made against Wallace have been upheld according to a report, along with a claim that Torode once used a racist term, which he denies, reports the Express. Despite the backlash from fans to cancel the show, producers decided to air series 21 featuring both previous hosts, which had already been filmed. During Wednesday, August 13's episode- the fourth in the series - five amateur cooks entered the BBC kitchen rather than the usual six, which was met with suspicion from fans. The long shot of the group walking into the studio raised a few eyebrows after the show diverted from its usual format, instead featuring close ups of their faces or in pairs. Once inside, John and Gregg explained how two cooks would automatically go through to the next round after cooking their opening first dish. The two men in the competition – Sam and Trevor – made it through to the next round, leaving the three women – Hazel, Aileen, and Marcella – to compete again. After cooking a second dish, the remaining chefs returned to the room, but the footage abruptly cut after Hazel walked in behind Marcella and Aileen. As John revealed who the remaining two chefs would be going through to the final round, the camera shots remained closely cropped to each of the three women, rather than the wider shots that are typical of the show. Marcella was chosen first, before John announced Hazel's name. But in a bizarre moment, Hazel – who was at the end of the line – looked to her left and gave a thankful nod before looking to her right and doing the same to Aileen, who was in the middle of the trio. But as far as viewers could see, there was no one on Hazel's left that she would need to thank. As Aileen left the room, Hazel appeared to gesture with her arm to the left, before a big empty space next to Hazel flashed up on screen, making the interaction even more unusual. As it turned out, the odd episode was due to another sixth contestant's request to be edited out of the series because of its publicly shamed hosts. It didn't take long before fans flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter - to praise the editors on their hard work to seamlessly remove one contestant from the episode, despite the head-nod blunder. One user lauded: "Kudos to the editors of this episode. You would hardly have known that one contestant had been edited out." Another agreed: "I've just witnessed a masterpiece of editing" as a third echoed: "They managed to completely edit out Sarah Shafi! How was it possible?" Sarah Shafi, from Leeds, argued that airing the series sent the wrong message after the BBC sacked both presenters. The 57-year-old contestant claimed producer Banijay had offered to edit her out of the episode she featured in. But the participant dismissed the proposal and called for the whole series to be scrapped. Once the broadcaster confirmed the series was going ahead, Ms Shafi agreed to be edited out. A spokesperson for Banijay previously said: "As we said when we announced the show would be aired, this was not an easy decision in the circumstances and we appreciate not everyone would agree with it. "Banijay consulted with all the contestants before that decision was made and there was widespread support for it going ahead. The focus of the series is the contestants, as it always is. Has Strictly FINALLY lost its sparkle? Bookies slash odds of show being cancelled as fans complain about 'boring' cast and fewer women than men sign up after abuse scandals
Strictly Come Dancing was once the jewel in the crown of Saturday night TV with millions of viewers tuning into see their favourite celebrities compete in glamorous costumes for the glitter ball trophy. But now, ahead of the show's upcoming series, bookies are offering odds as low as 8-1 the programme with be the last ever following multiple controversies, a lacklustre line-up of Z-list stars and less women than men agreeing to take part and with good reason. The long-running BBC series has truly lost its sparkle after former contestant Wynne Evans, 53, was accused of inappropriate behaviour and forced to apologise for making an unacceptable sexual remark on stage at a press event, which led to him resigning from the Strictly tour. In 2023, actress Amanda Abbington, 51, complained about professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, 34, being 'unnecessary, abusive, cruel and mean' during their rehearsals which she said caused her to quit midway through the season. And in the same year, former Love Island contestant Zara McDermott, 28, was left 'incredibly distressed' following her experience in the training room with Graziano Di Prima, 31, who admitted to kicking the documentary maker, resulting in his axing. Now, it appears that female celebrities are too terrified to sign up, with six women appearing on the cast this year compared to nine males, and bosses have certainly lowered the previously high bar with who they allow to take part. The cast this year includes several former reality stars such as Love Island winner Dani Dyer, ex-Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison, Apprentice candidate Tom Skinner, RuPaul's Drag Race runner-up La Voix, and Gladiator Harry Aikines-Aryeetey. Strictly bosses previously banned influencers and reality stars from taking part with now the likes of former Apprentice contestant Tom, who was fired by Lord Sugar in 2019, deemed famous enough to compete, with one Daily Mail reader saying: 'More than half are not celebrities.' And the disappointing line-up hasn't gone unnoticed as thousands of Strictly fans took to platform X to voice their criticisms, with one writing: 'The bottom of the barrel has been well and truly scraped.' Another said: 'The Strictly line-up is complete and it's truly abysmal' as another person wrote: 'This is without a doubt the worst starting line-up. Wondering if the past two years has caused so much damage to its reputation. Is this the beginning of the end?' 'Safe to say this is the worst Strictly line-up of all time,' another user posted. John Hughes commented: 'One of the weakest, most uninspiring 'celebrity' line-ups in years. The show is still having difficulty signing up female contestants, it seems, following previous scandals with male pros. 'Time for Strictly to be rested as a result series and have three or four specials per year?' Commenting on the mundaneness of the cast this year, another user on X said: 'They should do some kind of study to see if the Strictly line-up really does get less glamorous every time because like?' 'It's sad because the show was once so loved by viewers of all ages but there's an unavoidable darkness now and insiders even believe this could be the last ever series.' It comes after Strictly was hit with drug allegations after two of the show's stars were allegedly caught taking cocaine and it was widely talked about among the cast. The BBC has launched an investigation this month into the alleged drug taking while last week the Sun on Sunday reported that a 10-year show veteran was previously offered cocaine by one of its stars at a wild party. It's the second successive year where less female contestants have signed up to Strictly after fewer women joined the line-up in 2024. There were nine male celebrities and only six women after Amanda spoke on her experiences having competed on the show. Former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison has signed up to the upcoming Strictly series after previously winning ITV's I'm A Celeb During an interview on Channel 4 News in July last year, Amanda described the aftermath of her time on Strictly as 'brutal' and 'unforgiving' after she and her family received death threats from Giovanni fans. She said: 'There were five or six people previous to me that had the same experience. 'It was unnecessary and when it was getting thrown at me I would shut down. I have been in abusive situations before so I recognised the red flags so I would shut down and I wouldn't be able to do the job because I felt attacked... It was not conducive to a happy environment.' TV presenter Laura Whitmore, who was partnered with Giovanni in 2016, said she felt 'broken' and 'cried everyday' during her time on the show as she supported Amanda with her claim against the Italian pro dancer last year. Following a BBC investigation, six of Amanda's allegations towards Giovanni were upheld and he was cleared on 11 out of 17, and has since gone onto win the Italian version of the competition with his now girlfriend Bianca Guaccero. This year's cast also includes EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal, Game of Thrones star Kristian Nairn, Lioness Karen Carney, Lorraine Showbiz correspondent Ross King and influencer Ellie Goldstein, who made history when she became the first model with Down syndrome to cover British Vogue magazine. Rugby player Chris Robshaw, Neighbours actor Stefan Dennis, YouTuber George Clarke, Doctor Who actress Alex Kingston, and sportsman Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will also be taking to the Strictly ballroom next month. BBC bosses will be praying for an unforgettable series to give the show its sparkle back.

MasterChef shows same shot of Gregg Wallace three times in editing blunder
An edited MasterChef episode showed the same shot of sacked presenter Gregg Wallace three times in under a minute. A clip of the edit, lasting 54 seconds, has gone viral on X after a TV critic drew attention to the 'utterly wild' production gaffe. It comes after the BBC revealed that it had tried to limit the screen time of now-sacked co-presenters Wallace and John Torode. The broadcasters were ousted from the show they had presented for 20 years earlier this summer following an independent review into their workplace conduct. The investigation upheld 45 allegations against Wallace of inappropriate behaviour and one complaint against Torode for an incident in 2018, where he is alleged to have used a racial slur during after-show drinks. Limits on presenter's screen time The BBC was forced to edit the popular amateur cooking programme in light of the upheld findings, and decided to release the first three episodes of the new series on iPlayer last week. Editors were understood to have faced 'limitations' on how much the former co-presenters could be cut, given they are the main hosts of the show and their banter previously played a considerable role. Last week the new instalments, which had been filmed before the allegations of their workplace conduct came to light, were labelled by critics as lacking in the show's usual humour and energy. Viewers have now taken aim at the latest edit. Editors appeared to have implemented a ban on their usual banter throughout the show, and in place of a typical quip or comment, Wallace has so far appeared mostly smiling or simply interviewing the contestants. The latest clip is an interaction between the two former hosts and one of the amateur chefs while she prepares a rack of lamb. Reoccurring footage Wallace appear, saying: 'I love a rack of lamb, but it scares me. Don't want it underdone, I want it beautifully browned and crispy on the outside and pink in the middle.' His smiling face is brought on in response to the contestant describing her ingredients, as well as to her response to Torode telling her she is 'up against it' with time. She asks the presenters: 'Isn't that what I'm here to do? Push myself? Take a risk?' The same Wallace clip is then shown again after she tells them: 'I've never faulted so far, so let's hope I don't fault now.' In response to the editing, TV critic Scott Bryan asked: 'Utterly wild that MasterChef showed the same Gregg Wallace face three times in just one minute. Are they running out of bits to show us?' In the new series, Torode and Wallace's roles are kept to welcoming the new contestants, interviewing them as they cook, explaining the challenges and tasting the dishes. It comes after the future of this year's series had been thrown into doubt by the allegations as the BBC weighed up broadcasting the programme at all. A few weeks ago, the corporation announced that it had made the decision to air it as 'the right thing to do' for the amateur chefs who took part. The decision, however, was not without backlash, including from two contestants who were edited out of the programme altogether after calling for it to be scrapped. A 'significant' dip in viewership Early viewing figures pointed to a significant fall in the show's usual viewership, showing that just under two million people had tuned in to watch the first episode. It marked a dip of more than 700,000 viewers since the launch of last year's show, when the presenters were not facing any workplace conduct allegations. In response to the findings, Torode said he had 'no recollection' of the alleged racial slur incident and was 'shocked and saddened' by his departure, adding that he knew any racist language 'is wholly unacceptable in any environment'. Meanwhile, Wallace claimed through a statement on Instagram that he had been cleared by that report of 'the most serious and sensational allegations' made against him. He said: 'I recognise that some of my humour and language, at times, was inappropriate. For that, I apologise without reservation. But I was never the caricature now being sold for clicks.'
