Techday NZ03-07-2025
OVHcloud has entered into a partnership with cloud software provider Crayon, allowing both companies' customers to access and integrate a wide array of technology solutions across over 45 regions globally, including Australia.
Partnership details
The agreement between OVHcloud and Crayon aims to provide organisations with greater access to cloud infrastructure and technology services, making it possible to build and operate in numerous regions outside the US. The partnership is designed to combine OVHcloud's infrastructure with Crayon's technical expertise, delivering solutions that prioritise security, cost-effectiveness, and flexibility.
Under the terms of the collaboration, customers of OVHcloud and Crayon will benefit from the ability to deploy cloud solutions in regions that span four continents, with services tailored to meet both operational and regulatory requirements. The companies have stated that the expanded access will especially aid organisations seeking to optimise their technology investments while retaining control and compliance.
Focus on sovereignty and sustainability
OVHcloud positions itself as a European advocate for fairness and openness in cloud solutions, emphasising the performance-to-price ratios of its offerings. Crayon, recognised for its FinOps capabilities and expertise in digital transformation, brings advisory and managed services to the partnership, acting as a vendor-agnostic provider able to leverage OVHcloud's portfolio.
Caroline Comet-Fraigneau, OVHcloud Chief Sales Officer, highlighted the collaborative potential between the two companies: "This partnership will enable organisations across the world to benefit from Crayon's strategic and technical expertise, combined with OVHcloud's infrastructure," said Caroline Comet-Fraigneau, Chief Sales Officer, OVHcloud. "Crayon, along with our broader partner community, is critical to our mission of empowering businesses with sustainable, sovereign cloud services with the best performance-price ratio. This is a key part of our growth strategy and together, we will enable businesses to build a cloud environment which suits them, using technologies and know-how from two trusted European technology powerhouses with a global reach."
Shared solutions and expertise
With the new agreement, Crayon's customers can access OVHcloud's full suite of services, which ranges from bare metal servers and hosted private clouds—featuring VMware and Nutanix options—to public cloud and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) solutions, such as managed Kubernetes. Similarly, OVHcloud customers are now able to leverage Crayon's advisory services, designed to support software optimisation, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation.
The scope of the collaboration is reflected in the access to infrastructure and managed services now available in 45 regions worldwide, excluding the US. This is intended to enable businesses to expand into new markets, optimise their cloud environments, and meet localised compliance standards.
Erling Hesselberg, Crayon Vice President of Enterprise Software, commented on the joint approach: "At Crayon, we are committed to empowering our customers with the most relevant and future-ready cloud solutions," said Erling Hesselberg, Crayon Vice President of Enterprise Software. "Our global partnership with OVHcloud allows us to combine their sovereign, sustainable cloud infrastructure with Crayon's deep expertise in software and advisory services. Together, we are uniquely positioned to help organisations navigate complex regulatory landscapes, optimise cost, and scale with confidence. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in delivering choice, control, and compliance to our customers worldwide."
Regional and global impact
The partnership is also notable for its inclusion of Australian organisations, who will now have the option to work with both OVHcloud's and Crayon's offerings for local and international deployments. With both companies focusing on sovereignty, compliance, and sustainable solutions, customers are expected to benefit from integrated services designed to accommodate a range of regulatory environments and industry requirements.
By leveraging Crayon's expertise in advisory and software services along with OVHcloud's infrastructure capabilities, the companies are positioning themselves to support clients in digital transformation and technology optimisation across multiple territories.

Judges at the New Zealand Beer Awards in Christchurch. Photo / RNZ 'We showed up hoping to achieve some consistency, and perhaps nab a gold medal for our best-loved beer, Tigermilk IPA. So this has totally blown us away. 'We are a very regionally-focused brewery and Hawke's Bay consumes most of our beer. We are so incredibly grateful to the people of Hawke's Bay that have always supported us and cheered us on. They have helped us grow in so many ways.' It is the first time in 18 years that one brewery has collected three beer category trophies. Matt Smith said the team had been 'hyper-focused' on the 'little details' this year and had made 'incremental steps towards brewing the best possible beer'. 'So having this feedback from some of the best judging palates in the country and winning these awards has been so validating.' New Zealand's brewers are embracing new ingredients and styles, head judge Tina Panoutsos said. 'We've seen different ingredients used creatively and represented across a range of styles from fruit and flavoured, European ales and experimental classes. 'There's a trend toward using a range of fruits like the native Horopito and stone fruits to influence texture and complexity.' Wellington brewery Garage Project added to its trophy cabinet, collecting four prizes and the highest number of medals of any entrant – 10 gold, 11 silver and six bronze. Garage Project was also named Champion New Zealand Large Brewery and won two beer category trophies: British & European Ale and Wood & Barrel Aged. Matakana independent brewery Sawmill won the Brewing Sustainability Award for the sixth consecutive year. The New Zealand Medium Brewery winner is Altitude Brewing, from Queenstown. Red Hat named leader for multicloud container platforms by Forrester

Red Hat has been named a Leader in The Forrester Wave: Multicloud Container Platforms, Q3 2025 report, based on its performance in the multicloud container platform market. Forrester's assessment The Forrester Wave report evaluated several vendors in the multicloud container platform market, focusing on both the current offering and company strategy categories. Red Hat was highlighted for scoring the highest among all evaluated vendors in these categories. The report described OpenShift as "a good fit for enterprises that prioritise support, reliability, and advanced engineering, particularly in regulated industries such as financial services." It also observed that "customers consistently praise Red Hat's enterprise-grade offerings and support, especially for managed services." Forrester noted Red Hat's capabilities in Kubernetes, saying, "Red Hat excels in core Kubernetes areas, offering robust operator options, powerful management, GitOps automation, and flexible interfaces via a GUI or command-line interface (CLI). OpenShift's SLAs of 99.95% for public cloud managed-service versions showcase Red Hat's capacity to engineer capabilities beyond those of native public cloud services." The report additionally stated, "Developers will find just about everything they need with Red Hat's above-par scores in developer experience, service and application catalogues, microservices, service mesh, DevOps automation, and integration." Technical focus and AI integration Beyond container management, Red Hat is extending its efforts in hybrid cloud solutions. The company is leveraging its stack - including Red Hat Enterprise Linux - to improve support for generative AI development and operations, with an emphasis on model serving and advanced inference. Customer priorities and market needs The report noted that OpenShift has demonstrated suitability for organisations operating in highly regulated industries, such as financial services, where support and reliability are considered essential. The platform's managed services, which offer defined service-level agreements, were singled out for positive feedback from customers. The importance of a strong enterprise support model for public cloud deployments was also highlighted in the analysis. Leadership statement Mike Barrett, Vice President & General Manager, Hybrid Cloud Platforms, Red Hat, said: "Red Hat continues to provide the leading platform for organisations navigating the complexities of multicloud environments. Being named a Leader in The Forrester WaveTM for Multicloud Container Platforms reinforces our commitment to delivering robust, enterprise-grade solutions that empower our customers to innovate with confidence across their hybrid cloud footprints. Our focus on core Kubernetes capabilities, strong developer experience and strategic AI integrations positions us well for the evolving needs of the market. Sovereign cloud, coupled with the digital independence required to get the most from AI, have made multicloud investments a leading priority for our global customers." Developer perspective The Forrester evaluation recognised Red Hat's OpenShift for the breadth of its support for developers, including tooling for DevOps automation, service catalogues, and integration features. The solution was described as delivering above-average scores in developer experience, microservices, and service mesh capabilities. Market context As enterprise IT organisations continue to adopt hybrid and multicloud strategies, platforms capable of delivering consistent operations and supporting evolving application needs are increasingly important. The 99.95% public cloud managed service SLA cited by Forrester underlines the attention to reliability and service continuity expected in this sector. Red Hat continues to broaden the reach of its hybrid cloud portfolio, applying the foundation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux to support both traditional enterprise workloads and emerging technologies such as generative AI.
