The alarm was raised at 5.53pm, and fire engines from the Semporna Fire and Rescue Station arrived within minutes to find the two-storey building well alight. The blaze destroyed about 90 per cent of the hardware store and also spread to a dental clinic on the upper floor, which was damaged by around 50 per cent. Firefighters faced challenges due to low water pressure from hydrants, but support from Sabah Water Department tankers enabled the team to continue operations using multiple water sources. A total of 49 personnel from various agencies, including the police, Sabah Electricity, and the Civil Defence Force, were involved in the operation, and no casualties were reported. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
