The 26-year-old wicketkeeper-batter surprised many when he handed over the gloves and took up bowling duties — a move that drew comparisons to a memorable moment from 2014, when
MS Dhoni
briefly stepped away from wicketkeeping during a Test against New Zealand.
During a rain-affected, drawn match against Somerset at Taunton, Kishan showcased a rarely seen side of his game.
On Wednesday, in an unexpected turn, he was handed the ball and made full use of the opportunity.
In his over, Kishan experimented with a mix of off-spin and leg-spin, even switching to bowling around the wicket.
He opened the over mimicking
Harbhajan Singh
's bowling action and later imitated the legendary
Shane Warne
while delivering a leg-spinner — much to the amusement of teammates and fans.
A clip of the moment was shared by the official County Championship social media handle.
Kishan last played a Test for India during the tour of the West Indies in July 2023.
In the IPL 2025 season with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kishan scored 354 runs in 14 games.

IND vs ENG 2nd Test: Jamie Smith betters captain Ben Stokes' record, becomes first England batter to...

Jamie Smith's ton vs India came at a crucial point in the game (Image via AP/PTI) Jamie Smith lit up Edgbaston on Day 3 of the second Test with a blistering century that not only revived England's innings but also etched his name in the record books. The 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batter brought up his hundred in just 80 balls against a relentless Indian attack, making it the joint-third fastest Test century for England in terms of balls faced. In doing so, Smith overtook Ben Stokes , his current captain, whose fastest was an 85-ball ton against New Zealand at Lord's in 2015. The milestone came at a crucial point of the game. England had been reduced to 77/3 at stumps on Day 2 and lost both Joe Root and Stokes early on Day 3. The latter departed for a golden duck, the first such dismissal in his Test career. But just when India looked set to tighten their grip on the game, Smith and Harry Brook counterpunched with centuries that kept England afloat. Fastest Test centuries for England (by balls faced) 76 – Gilbert Jessop vs Australia, The Oval, 1902 77 – Jonny Bairstow vs New Zealand, Trent Bridge, 2022 80 – Harry Brook vs Pakistan, Rawalpindi, 2022 80 – Jamie Smith vs India, Edgbaston, 2025 85 – Ben Stokes vs New Zealand, Lord's, 2015 Tracing Moeen Ali's steps in Birmingham Additionally, Smith is also the first England batter to score 100+ runs in a session before lunch, having not been unbeaten overnight. Brook, whose name also features just above Smith in the list of fastest centuries, looked equally confident in his approach. His century also set another record, as he became the player with the third-lowest innings needed to reach 9 tons for England in Tests. Brook's record of 44 innings is only behind Herbert Sutcliffe (43) and Denis Compton (37). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 60년 묵은 혈관 찌꺼기 ,,, '이것." 하나면 다른건 하지 않아도 됩니다! 면역력 Rg3의 비결 더 알아보기 Undo Poll Which player impressed you the most in the second Test at Edgbaston? NHL trade news: Edmonton Oilers sign veteran forward Curtis Lazar to $775K deal in 2024 free agency return

Veteran forward Curtis Lazar rejoins Edmonton (Image via: Getty Images) Veteran forward Curtis Lazar is heading back to Edmonton, this time in an NHL jersey. The Oilers have signed the 30-year-old to a one-year, $775,000 contract during the 2024 NHL free agency period, bringing the former WHL standout full circle as he returns to the city where his junior hockey journey first began. Curtis Lazar signs one-year, $775K deal to join Edmonton Oilers The Edmonton Oilers' decision to bring in Curtis Lazar is more than a feel-good reunion. It's a calculated depth move ahead of the 2024–25 NHL season. Lazar, originally drafted 17th overall by the Ottawa Senators in 2013, spent five seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL, winning a Memorial Cup and WHL Championship before turning pro. Now, more than a decade later, Lazar brings veteran presence, playoff experience, and two-way versatility to a team looking to maintain its Stanley Cup contention status. Known for his high work ethic and defensive responsibility, Lazar is expected to fill a fourth-line forward role under head coach Kris Knoblauch. The 2023–24 NHL season wasn't kind to Lazar. Playing for the New Jersey Devils, he battled through injuries and recorded just 2 goals and 3 assists in 48 games. However, the Oilers see upside in his ability to contribute in penalty-killing situations, win board battles, and provide leadership in the locker room. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Brain tumor has left my son feeling miserable; please help! The 28-year-old joins a high-powered Oilers team, thanks in large part to direct recruiting efforts from superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Oilers add Mangiapane in free agency after key role played by McDavid and Draisaitl After a brief one-year stint with the Washington Capitals, Mangiapane hit the open market on July 1 and quickly became a target for multiple playoff contenders. However, it was the Oilers who sealed the deal—thanks to their leadership group taking matters into their own hands. According to Mangiapane, both McDavid and Draisaitl personally reached out during the free agency period, which had a major impact on his decision to sign with Edmonton. 'People pulling you this way and that way and wanting you here or there. But when you have those two caliber players calling you, you tend to listen,' Mangiapane said during an appearance on Oilers Now with Bob Stauffer.
