Moment David Tennant talks Neil Gaiman addresses sexual assault allegations

David Tennant was confronted about the Neil Gaiman sexual assault allegations for the first time on ITV's The Assembly.
The 54-year-old actor was questioned by an autistic, neuro-divergent and learning disabled crowd on a range of topics from his response to JK Rowling calling him out to a secret he has never told anyone.
During the no-holds-barred interview one person asked the Doctor Who actor: 'Someone you worked with, a friend, has been cancelled for some quite serious allegations. How has that affected you?'
Tennant, who has worked with plenty of later-revealed controversial figures over the years including Noel Clarke and John Barrowman, clarified: 'Who are we talking about?'
To which the questioner confirmed he was talking about the Good Omens creator, Gaiman, who has been hit with a string of sexual assault allegations which he has firmly denied.
In the interviewer's question, he claimed Good Omens had 'been stopped' and Tennant used his answer to clarify that the show would, in fact, be returning for a 90 minute finale episode rather than the originally planned season three.
'We're doing Good Omens again' the Crowley actor, who co-leads theAmazon Prime show with Michael Sheen, replied.
Then continued with some umming and ahhing: 'We're doing a finale. There's been a slight rejig with the personnel [likely referring to Gaiman exiting as executive producer].
'But we still get to tell that story which I… It would have been very difficult to leave it on a cliffhanger. So I am glad that's been worked out.'
Allegations against the 64-year-old author – also behind shows like Netflix's Sandman – first came to light in July 2024.
Then an expose in New York Magazine detailed allegations from eight different women including a nanny, Scarlett Pavlovich, who claimed she was assaulted in the presence of Gaiman's five-year-old son.
She also alleged she was sexually assaulted in a bathtub, called his 'slave' multiple times, and he ejaculated on her faced despite her saying 'no'.
As for Tennant's response to how the situation affected him, there was mixed reaction.
One X user, carolyneeetc, praised him for 'giving a proper answer.'
'He dealt with it brilliantly. Really proud of him. And thank you David for being on our side,' she wrote.
Another pointed out how 'uncomfortable' he came across during the exchange.
'That was the most uncomfortable I have ever seen David Tennant look. He did not appreciate that question,' felisa_elisa shared.
Many more argued that Tennant seemed to point blank skirt around the actual question.
'No offense but he did dodge the question here. Made no comment about Neil Gaiman or how his 'cancellation' has affected him. Not hating on David Tennant, but applauding him for sidestepping making a comment on Gaiman or his actions isn't very commendable to me,' pelloo04 said.
'Maybe it's just me but that feels like him finding a way out of answering the actual question, which was 'how has what your friend did affected you',' @firlows reflected.
Elsewhere in the 20 minute episode where 'no topic is off limits' he discussed trans allyship, his relationship with God and was moved to tears by a live rendition of Sunshine on Leith. More Trending
As for Gaiman's media presence, several of his shows have come – or are coming – to an end alongside Good Omens with Netflix axing Dead Boys Detective and releasing a final season of The Sandman.
Meanwhile the Disney adaptation of The Graveyard Book has been paused indefinitely.

However, an insider has claimed that none of Emma's relatives supports their union, saying Stephen makes them "uncomfortable" and adding this has created "a rift" in the family. Emma, a qualified nurse who works at Gloucester Royal Hospital, also has two daughters from a previous relationship. Following reports that Rose is in ill health and has been moved to a disabled room in prison "because she can barely walk," Emma said she and her partner were unaware of it as they are not in contact. While admitting that she and Stephen have watched the new Netflix documentary Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story, Emma said her fiancé "doesn't want to say anything because his main priority is the little ones." She added: "He is adamant, at this time of his life he's got a young family to protect." Stephen, who is a grandad, has been married twice before and now has eight children. It's understood she changed her name by deed poll in December last year and told friends it's her way of moving on. However, everyone knows her real identity at the women-only HMP New Hall near Wakefield in West Yorkshire. Some inmates spurn her attempts at friendship, and she often eats tomato soup in her cell alone for breakfast, before spending most of her time in her cell knitting and talking to the TV, because she can barely walk. West is now being held in a special unit at New Hall known as Rivendell House, where 30 prisoners each have an en-suite cell and are allocated a laptop which they can use to order food from. The communal areas are also said to be "more inviting" than other blocks in the prison, according to inspection reports.

Ncuti Gatwa reveals real reason behind Doctor Who exit as fans suspect it 'wasn't planned'
Doctor Who fans were left shocked during Saturday's night finale of the BBC show when Ncuti Gatwa left his role as the Doctor after just two series and regenerated into old fan favourite Billie Piper. Doctor Who's star Ncuti Gatwa is set to go down in the beloved sci-fi shows' 62 year history for many reasons - one of them being as one of the few actors who served the shortest time in his role as the Doctor. After just two series of the iconic drama, the Scottish-Rwandan actor shared with fans that he was stepping down from his role as the Time Lord. Ncuti cited the reason he quit was due to the physical and mental demands of the show, especially on his lead character, but fans believe his exit was not a planned one despite what the Sex Education star has told the media. The 32-year-old has now been replaced by the iconic Billie Piper, who previously starred in the BBC drama as Rose Tyler alongside former doctor Christopher Ecclestone, who only lasted one series. Piper also starred in the 2006 series with David Tennant. Ncuti recorded a video explanation for his fans after his exit was aired in the Doctor Who season 15 finale on Saturday May 31. He said: "It's a role that demands a lot of you physically and emotionally and mentally. The actors playing the Doctor are only actors playing the Doctor. Unfortunately, we are mere mortals. "I would love to have the energy and the youth to be able to do this full time for the rest of my life, but my knees are telling me it's time." However, die-hard fans believe there is another reason behind his exit, the Mirror reports. Taking to X, one fan named Mr Tardis had clearly done their research as they wrote: "In October 2024, Ncuti Gatwa was on 'The Graham Norton Show' saying he was going to be filming another series of DW next year. "In June 2025, he officially leaves the show and regenerates. This was never the plan. What a shame. He deserved so much better." Another echoed: "In situations like that, they'll often shoot two different alternative scenes: one where the series continues, and one to finish things off. "Ncuti may well have actually thought he'd be staying on back in October 2024, even after filming a regeneration scene just in case." A third fan was left disappointed with the news of his exit as they wrote: "I am so f****g sad. its one thing to see your doctor regenerate because they chose to, another to see it happen because of behind the scenes s**t. "I loved literally every episode this era. I've been defending it the whole time. this.. this kinda broke me." Adding to his exit speech, Ncuti said: "You know when you get cast, at some point, you are going to have to hand back that sonic screwdriver and it is all going to come to an end, but nothing quite prepares you for it. "This journey has been one that I will never forget and a role that will be part of me forever. He added: "There are no words to describe what it feels like to be cast as the Doctor, nor are there words to explain what it feels like to be accepted into this iconic role that has existed for over 60 years and is truly loved by so many across the globe." The former Doctor Who star continued: "The fans are truly the final character and beating heart of this show and I can't thank the Whoniverse, and the Whovians, enough for welcoming me in, and making this such a touching experience. "I've loved every minute of it, but now is the time to hand over the keys to that beloved blue box and let someone else take control and enjoy it every bit as much as I have. I'll truly miss it, and forever be grateful to it, and everyone that has played a part in my journey as the Doctor." Meanwhile showrunner Russell T. Davies also expressed his sadness over Ncuti's decision to step down. He expressed: "What a Doctor! Thank you, Ncuti! As his final words say, this has been an absolute joy, and the team in Cardiff and everyone who has worked on this show for the past few years, are so lucky to have been part of Ncuti's great adventure as he shoots off to stratospheric new heights." He added: "Billie once changed the whole of television, back in 2005, and now she's done it again! It's an honour and a hoot to welcome her back to the Tardis, but quite how and why and who is a story yet to be told. "After 62 years, the Doctor's adventures are only just beginning!" A spokesperson for Doctor Who declined to comment.

Disney+ users warned to check important detail to avoid £1,000 fine
Disney+ users are at risk of a big fine if they don't follow this one rule. For the next five years, the streaming platform will possess the broadcasting rights for the UEFA Women's Champions League across Europe, as announced last month. However, if football fans wish to tune in, they'll have to check one key detail. From October, Disney+ subscribers will be able to stream every match. There'll be no additional cost to their monthly fee, provided they have a TV licence. Even though you are not watching the games on channels such as BBC, a licence is still required when viewing live television. Yes, even on Disney+. If you are caught streaming live content without a licence, you could receive an unwelcome £1,000 fine. Don't worry, these restrictions won't impact the rest of the Disney+ experience, as on-demand content – aka, not live – can still be viewed without a TV licence and for no extra cost. Making the announcement at the end of May, Disney+ said: 'Disney+ will be the home of the UEFA Women's Champions League across Europe from next season, allowing fans to watch every match live at no extra cost.' They explained that this 'follows a five-year deal in which The Walt Disney Company has secured live rights to the competition from 2025/26 to 2029/30.' 'As the only place fans can watch all live matches in the competition, coverage on Disney+ will launch in October 2025, marking a new era for the UEFA Women's Champions League with the introduction of the 18-team League phase format,' explained the streamer. 'Bringing more excitement, unpredictability and bigger clashes from the League phase through to the 2026 Final at Ullevaal Stadion, Oslo, all 75 matches in the competition will be live streamed on Disney+.' Karl Holmes, General Manager, Disney+ EMEA, commented: 'The UEFA Women's Champions League is the very best in football performance, dedication, and passion. 'Bringing this incredible tournament to Disney+ customers and audiences speaks to our commitment to delivering a huge range of bold and dynamic entertainment. More streaming giants have acquired the rights to live broadcasts in recent years, though, meaning it's essential you check you can take part in the fun without being stung. For example, in March, Netflix subscribers were given a warning ahead of the premiere of Everybody's Live with John Mulaney. Marking the streamer's first-ever late-night talk show, it aired live from the US with the comedian at the helm, with viewers needing a TV licence to watch without the risk of repercussions. Similarly, Netflix recently acquired the rights to the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight, plus several WWE shows. At the time, the rules were reiterated. A spokesperson said: 'A TV licence is needed to watch live content on streaming services, watch or record a TV programme on any channel, and when using BBC iPlayer. 'Further information is available on the TV licensing website or via the customer services team, who can help with any queries.' As for how much a TV licence sets you back, the figure increased on April 1.
