Amanda Seyfried makes vow about Mamma Mia 3
Amanda Seyfried has made a promise to fans regarding a potential third Mamma Mia film.
The 39-year-old star played Sophie Sheridan in the first Mamma Mia! film in 2008 and reprised the role in the 2018 sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
The second film introduced Cher, 78, as her on-screen grandmother, Ruby Sheridan, and now Seyfried has insisted she won't be involved in a third film without the music icon.
The star told E! News, "Cher is definitely going to be in it. I mean, I wouldn't want to do it without her at this point."
While rumours have rumbled that a third film is in the pipeline, Seyfried appeared to acknowledge that a script is still yet to be written, joking, "There's got to be a contest where somebody writes Mamma Mia! 3."
Cher herself has previously made it clear she would love to reprise her role as Ruby Sheridan, telling Entertainment Weekly in November 2024, "We're talking about it. I don't know when they're going to do it, but I know they're talking about it."
While fellow star Christine Baranski told The Hollywood Reporter last year, "I was in London with (producer) Judy Craymer at our favourite watering hole, she is planning Mamma Mia 3. She gave me the narrative plotline of how it's going to happen."

The trailer released Thursday begins with a loud knock at the door that awakens Charles Blakey (Hawkins). Anniston Bennet (Dafoe) stands on the doorstep of the home, located in 1994 Sag Harbor, New York. "I have it in mind to rent your basement for a couple months," Bennet says, emphasizing that he is "only interested in renting." "I'll pay you $1,000 a day for 65 days," he proposes. The money would enable Blakey to keep his home, which had been in his family a long time and was facing foreclosure. Bennet's arrival, however, brings "in a force much darker than" Blakey anticipated. "We're exploring mental health, trauma, exploitation, and yes, the nature of evil, but we're also dealing with legacy, lineage, home and love," Hawkins told Entertainment Weekly. "A script centered on blackness in middle-class Sag Harbor in the '90s is loaded with cultural significance." An official release date has not yet been shared.

George Clooney claims it's frightening time to be in news business because of Trump
Actor George Clooney said "it's a scary time to be a news person" under President Donald Trump's administration during an interview on Wednesday. Clooney told CNN's Anderson Cooper that "most news organizations are under fire" by the Trump administration and that Cooper and CBS' "60 Minutes" have been specifically "picked out." While the actor expressed concerns about the current state of the country, he did push back on Cooper's assertion that America is currently at its worst. "I can make an argument that we're not. I can make an argument that we've had much worse times in our history. You know, 1968, every city in the United States was burning and there was — National Guard was surrounding the White House and the Capitol, and we'd lost Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy and Tet Offensive," he said. Clooney continued, vocalizing his concerns about the Trump administration's alleged "attack" on news organizations. "But it's a frustrating time, and I think a scary time for many people. It's a scary time to be a news person, to be in your profession. You've been picked out, you know, '60 Minutes' has been picked out. Most news organizations are under fire," he said. "That usually happens with demagogues in a way. It usually is a way of — the first places you attack are the news, because that's how we inform ourselves." Cooper followed up by asking the actor if he believes that "Trumpism" will last following the current president's term. "I don't think so," Clooney replied. "I think it'd be very hard to do it. Remember this: Donald Trump is a celebrity. That's what he is. I mean, he has a star on Hollywood Boulevard. I don't have a star on Hollywood Boulevard. I'm not lobbying for one. I'm just saying." He continued by noting that while Trump is "charming" and many of the people who support him find him "funny," another large portion of Americans do not. "And so when he is finished, and he will be finished, they're going to have to go looking for someone who can deliver the message that he delivered with the same kind of charisma. And they don't have that," he said of the Republican Party. Later in the interview, Cooper asked Clooney whether he's worried about Trump personally targeting him. "Sure. Everybody worries about it," he responded. "But, you know, if you spend your life worrying about things, then you won't do things. You know, we have, like everybody, a family, and we have a life, and we try to, you know, live and do things as the best example for our kids. And I want to be able to look at my kids in the eye and say where we stood and what we did at certain times in history. And I have no problem with that."

Jennifer Lopez is making a bold new move in her career. The multi-hyphenate star is at the center of the teaser trailer for Kiss of the Spider Woman, a film adaptation of the 1993 Tony Award-winning Broadway musical hit from Dreamgirls and Beauty and the Beast director Bill Condon. Lopez plays Ingrid Luna/the Spider Woman, a fictional silver screen diva who brings dazzling technicolor into the bleak life of prisoner Molina (Tonatiuh Elizarraraz), a window dresser convicted of public indecency. The film switches from Molina's harsh reality to a fantastical, musical utopia as he recounts the plot of a Hollywood musical to his cellmate, Valentín (Diego Luna), a political prisoner. Set to John Kander and Fred Ebb's — the legendary duo behind Chicago and Cabaret — award-winning score and a book by Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, Condon's adaptation draws inspiration from the Broadway musical and the acclaimed 1976 novel of the same name by Argentinian writer Manuel Puig. The Broadway musical won seven Tony awards, including Best Musical and Best Actress in a Musical for Chita Rivera, who originated the role of the Spider Woman. Condon's adaptation isn't the only time the Spider Woman has made her way to the big screen. Héctor Babenco directed the first film adaptation of the novel, which premiered in 1985. The critically acclaimed film starred William Hurt, Raúl Juliá, and Sônia Braga. Hurt won the Best Actor award when the film premiered at the 1985 Cannes Film Festival, as well as the Academy Award and BAFTA for Best Actor. Babenco became the first Brazilian filmmaker to earn an Oscar nomination for Best Director, and the film was the first Brazilian production to receive a nod for Best Picture. It also received a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination. Lopez is not only the star of the film, but also serves as an executive producer alongside Luna, her ex-husband Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and 12 others. The movie debuted at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival back in January and received a standing ovation from the audience, which reportedly left Lopez in tears. The mother of two previously opened up about taking the role during an interview with Variety's Awards Circuit podcast in November. She called it "the most challenging and rewarding role I've ever had." "It's a dark story, but also one about love and survival — about helping each other through hard times," Lopez added. "I think that's a message we really need right now." She recalled Kander being with her in the studio when she recorded her songs. "He's [98] years old and still so full of life," Lopez said. "Hearing him say, 'I've never heard this song sung better' — it was one of the best moments of my career." Kiss of the Spider Woman is set to premiere in theaters Oct. 10.
