Ajaz Khan sparks outrage after his controversial clip from a reality show goes viral; netizens demand immediate action

Time of India03-05-2025

Actor Ajaz Khan found himself in the middle of a controversy after video clip of his reality show House Arrest, which streams on the Ullu App, went viral on social media. He is observed asking contestants to perform different Kamasut** positions in the video, a decision that has been criticised by netizens as well as political leaders alike.
The overtness of the content has attracted severe criticism, with most accusing the show of going beyond ethical limits in the name of entertainment. Social media sites are now filled with tweets criticizing both Ajaz Khan and the producers of the show. One outraged user tweeted, "What is wrong with this man? Why is he behaving like this. This is seriously concerning and a total damning of our culture.". We call for stern action against this buffoon @AjazkhanActor for encouraging utter obscenity on his show #HouseArrest.
Ban this show at once." Another commented, "This need to stop. We need to take serious action against this man.'
The row also spilled over to the political spectrum. BJP Jharkhand MP Nishikant Dubey from the Godda constituency of Jharkhand re-shared the clip on social media, tagging the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He posted, "Yaha nahi chalega. Hamari committee iss par karwaai karegi," indicating potential intervention by parliament.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also flagged the issue. "I have brought this in the Standing Committee—that apps such as Ullu App and Alt Balaji have circumvented the I&B ministry's ban on obscene material. I am still waiting for their reply," she said, further ratcheting up the issue at the policy level.
As the outrage against House Arrest builds,
#BanHouseArrest
is trending on popular social media sites. Despite the furore, neither Ajaz Khan nor app has made an official statement. The incident has once again brought into focus the ongoing debate concerning regulation of OTT content in India and the loopholes digital media platforms allegedly use to circumvent censorship.

Power In Democracy Never Permanent, Must Be Wielded With Humility: Rajnath Singh To BJP Leaders

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday sent a strong message to BJP workers and party leaders outlining that power in democracy is never permanent and should bring humility and not arrogance. Addressing the BJP's three-day training camp in Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh, Singh cautioned party leaders that power must be wielded with humility. Today the mandate may rest with one leader, he said, but tomorrow it may shift elsewhere. 'Arrogance must be avoided and public service embraced with honesty and accountability,' said the Defence Minister. Citing icons like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Deendayal Upadhyay, and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, he painted a portrait of political life centred on values, restraint, and dedication to national service. Rajanth Singh's guidance reflected not only his role as Defence Minister but also his stature as a former BJP national president. Talking about Operation Sindoor, Singh reiterated 'Jinh mohi mara, te mai maare…' (I hit those who hit me) from the Ramcharitmanas, invoking the spirit behind India's recent Operation Sindoor. His message came just weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians, including a Nepali national, were killed by Pakistan-backed militants. Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, was India's measured yet assertive response, targeting nine terror hubs linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Defence Minister Singh described Operation Sindoor as a restrained operation guided by justice, not provocation. Amid this backdrop of national resolve, the Defence Minister addressed more than 200 BJP MPs and MLAs at the camp in the hill station Pachmarhi, once a colonial settlement, delivering a powerful message about leadership, morality, and public duty.

Hard working cadre will be rewarded with tickets to contest in Assembly election, says Udayanidhi Stalin in Theni

Assuring that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) high command would reward hard working cadre with tickets to contest in the ensuing Assembly election, Deputy CM and youth wing secretary Udayanidhi Stalin appealed to them to work for the victory of the party and its allies with huge margins. Addressing the various party wings office-bearers and senior functionaries in Theni district, he said that the party president M K Stalin is confident of sweeping the 2026 Assembly elections in over 200 out of the 234 constituencies. 'We should get our candidates win with huge margins....' he said. He said that the party would certainly give due weightage to those who have been working tirelessly. With just 10 months more for the general elections, he suggested to the functionaries to organise micro meetings with the electorate, to sensitise them to the fulfilled promises and the benefits received under the Kalaginar Mahalir Urimai Thittam (KMUT), Kalaignar Kanavu Illam and others. There may be fake news making rounds in the social media criticising the government. Nevertheless, the party cadre should take it to the people through 'thinnai pracharam' (door-to-door campaign) and educate them. Such measures could be done without spending any money. 'Please download the apps in your mobile phones to reach out to the masses by explaining about the welfare measures...' Mr Udayanidhi said and urged the cadre to frequently interact with the people. He said that the free bus facility launched for the womenfolk had saved at least ₹900 in each dwelling every month. Likewise, the friendly schemes such as 'Pudumai Penn' and 'Tamizh Pudalvan' et al, had brought in a huge difference in the families and the DMK government had instilled confidence among the downtrodden sector. Children have also utilised the schemes and gained access to higher education campuses with ease. The political opponents may churn stories and create false allegations. 'Never mind about all that. Keep talking to the people directly about the party's promises and achievements. For all the amount of good work done by the party and the Chief Minister and other leaders, even those who did not vote for the DMK and allies in 2021, should cast their votes now in 2026,' he noted. He denied the remarks made by BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah against the DMK and the Chief Minister. While the BJP indulged in a false campaign, the Union government's reports from Niti Aayog heaped praises about the Tamil Nadu government's performance in very many spheres. He also took a dig at the AIADMK and its leadership for letting down the people of Tamil Nadu for joining hands with the BJP. The only party which can stand strong and tall with the people has been the DMK and it would continue in the next term as well, he added.
