Zara McDermott left in tears as she confronts harrowing stalking cases
Zara McDermott became visibly emotional while exploring the devastating impact of stalking in her new BBC Three documentary series, To Catch A Stalker.
At one point in the programme, the former Love Island star can be seen fighting back tears as she hears the traumatic story of a woman whose ex-partner subjected her to relentless stalking and harassment. Over the course of To Catch A Stalker, Zara meets up with victims of stalking and domestic abuse in an effort to shed light on how crimes like this affect the lives of people across the UK.
Zara also does a deep dive into people who have decided to report their experiences to the police, and tracks how their cases move through the legal system.
In the second episode of the show, which will air on Tuesday evening at 9pm on BBC Three, Zara sits down for a chat with an anonymous woman who opens up about how she started to see the sinister side of her ex after breaking up with him.
She looked back wistfully on the early days of their romance, saying he was "very charming, caring, I didn't even imagine there was another side to him". But once they got to know each other better, things took a turn for the worse.
The stalking victim told Zara he forced her to video call him "24 hours a day, every day, morning until night". After the relationship ended, the stalking escalated further.
The woman shared: "The continuous harassment, being outside of my house every other day, he would cry his eyes out and make me feel bad."
Zara asked: "Was he calling you and texting you?" The woman then revealed the extreme lengths her ex went to in a bid to get ahold of her, saying: "He would call me more than 500 times a day and I would literally chuck my phone in some corner of my house."
She became emotional as she described how he "made me hate myself for being in that situation" and drew a line across her neck to demonstrate the way he would threaten her with violence from outside her window. She added: "He didn't leave outside of my house for another five, six hours. I was terrified."
"That breaks my heart, hearing that," Zara responded. The woman then explained that she had provided video evidence of her ex's behaviour as well as calls and text messages she received from him to the police and would be giving a witness statement in court.
Zara gently asked, "How are you feeling through this?" She held the woman's hand as she sadly replied, "Like I'm rubbish." Zara could be seen choking back tears as she told her: "You did not deserve any of that, you know that?"
Over the past few years, Zara has developed a reputation for tackling difficult topics in BBC documentaries. She has previously addressed issues such as revenge porn, sexism, rape culture in UK schools, and eating disorders among young people.
After she finished filming To Catch A Stalker in March, Zara described it as one of her "most emotional" projects yet. She told fans: "It's our final week of filming for my documentary about stalking, and honestly it's been one of the most eye opening, emotional films I've ever made. I've learnt so much about the strength of victims / survivors through this process… some of these women are the strongest I've ever met."

Georgia Steel has revealed a surprising new career move away from reality TV. The 27-year-old star first shot to fame on Love Island in 2018 and later appeared on Celebs Go Dating, Ex on The Beach, Love Island Games, and Love Island All Stars. Now, the beauty - who also works as an influencer - has shared she's embarked on a brand new path away from the limelight. On Tuesday, Georgia took to Instagram to announce she's officially a qualified Pilates instructor. Dressed in a stunning white summer dress, she posted a carousel of photos celebrating her new qualification alongside her parents and boyfriend Harry Clarke. Alongside the snaps, she wrote: 'Pinch me!!!! 'Can't quite believe I'm a qualified Pilates instructor. 'The most incredible day yesterday celebrating with family. Feel like the luckiest girl in the world right now.' Georgia recently enjoyed some time away from work and jetted away to Cancun, Mexico, for a sun-soaked getaway, sharing snaps from the trip to Instagram. The former Love Island star jetted off with her boyfriend of almost a year - Ipswich Town player Harry, 24 - last month after the end of the football season. When she arrived in the sun-soaked location, Georgia shared a host of snaps from the Mexican city. Clad in a striped white and black bikini layered with a skirt, the stunner posed for snaps while perched on a staircase in the couple's hotel. Georgia looked as sensational as ever as she offered a smile for the camera while flashing her slimline figure and toned abs. Having kept their blossoming romance largely under wraps for months after they were spotted flirting in September 2024, the couple went Instagram official in March of this year. Celebrating the footballer's birthday, Georgia gushed about Harry as they marked the big day with a trip to their favourite spa. 'We love you so much,' the 27-year-old wrote. In May, Harry and Georgia were in attendance as fellow Love Islander Dani Dyer, 28, and her England star boyfriend Jarrod Bowen, 28, tied the knot. Georgia and Dani - daughter of actor Danny Dyer - appeared on Love Island together in 2018 and have remained friends ever since.

Scottish Love Island star Laura Anderson opens up on 'hardest week of parenting'
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Scottish Love Island star Laura Anderson has opened up revealing she is struggling with her 22 month old daughter Bonnie. The radio star uploaded an honest and heartfelt update on social media saying this has been her "hardest week of parenthood so far", reports The Record. She admitted she's trying to find her feet as a mother to a nearly two year old in today's society, comparing her parenting skills to her parents in the 80s and 90s as she struggles with 'gentle parenting.' Laura took to Instagram sharing a series of snaps and videos of her week, including a trip to the beach with Bonnie and her mum and snaps of Bonnie enjoying a day at the circus with her boyfriend, footballer Clarke Robertson. The 36-year-old opened up in the caption, as she wrote: "These may be images of love, laughter and core memories being made recently but the truth behind the smiles is - I'm struggling." "This has been the hardest week of parenthood so far for me. Bonnie is coming up for 22 months and a lot has changed and keeps changing. I don't know who my daughter is some days, I don't recognise her which has led to my dip in confidence communicating and or disciplining my own child (especially in public)," she admitted. She added: "I'm scared of responding in the wrong way, I'm scared of making a mistake because what if it teaches her long lasting bad behaviours?! And let's be honest if you grew up in the 80s/90s like me, gentle parenting didn't exist. We got smacked (no offence to my parents) and now it's illegal." "So I guess you could say I'm trying to find my place as a mother somewhere in between." "We also talk about the 'juggle' but It's so much more than that. It's the responsibility of choosing a priority every second of the day because we simply can't do it all. I love my child but this is inevitably the hardest 'job' I've ever had (and I've had a lot of jobs)." The social media star concluded the post in a positive light, revealing: "My new mantra though, is- 'show me how good it can get' So without wishing my daughter's childhood away or those precious bonding turning point/learning curve moments. I hope 'this' ie tantrums…too shall pass." Laura shares daughter Bonnie with ex-boyfriend Gary Lucy, and has regularly spoke about the struggles of single parenting. Laura and Gary split before Bonnie was even born, with the star labelling him as a "deadbeat dad" after revealing he barely sees his young daughter. Fans were quick to take to the comments showing their support, and praising Laura for being so open. One fan simply stated: "We're all wingin' it," alongside a red heart emoji. Whilst another expressed: "I hear you and applaud you for sharing," and a third shared: "Love how genuine and honest you are Laura. Parenthood certainly ain't all plain sailing but you've got this beautiful mama, even if it feels like you don't sometimes, that's a normal part of parenthood but you do n you're such a great mammy to beautiful Bonnie."

Committee asks BBC boss for view on ‘what went wrong' with Glastonbury coverage
The BBC has faced criticism for continuing to livestream Bob Vylan's Glastonbury set(Ben Birchall/PA) They led chants of 'Death, death to the IDF (Israel Defence Forces)' during their set on the West Holts Stage on Saturday, with the broadcaster providing on-screen warnings about discriminatory language on its platform. It later apologised on Monday and said the chants held 'antisemitic sentiments' that were 'unacceptable'. Irish rap trio Kneecap, who are also facing an Avon and Somerset Police investigation, appeared on the same stage directly after Bob Vylan and led the Glastonbury audience in 'Free Palestine' chants. It has since been revealed that Tim Davie was at Glastonbury when the pro-Palestine chants were broadcast. In a letter sent to Mr Davie by the Culture, Media and Sport Committee on Tuesday, chairwoman Dame Caroline Dinenage asked the BBC boss 12 questions after saying its coverage had caused 'widespread concern'. Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy previously said that 'several' editorial failures 'becomes a problem of leadership' during a statement on the BBC's coverage to the Commons. It has since been revealed that Tim Davie, the BBC's director general, was at Glastonbury when Bob Vylan performed (Peter Byrne/PA) Among the questions, Dame Caroline said: 'Before the festival started, did the BBC consider streaming all or part of its Glastonbury coverage with a short time delay, to allow room to respond to events if necessary?' The Conservative MP went on to ask how many BBC staff and contractors were working at Glastonbury or on its coverage, if staff with the authority to cut Bob Vylan's live stream were present during their performance and whether ending the live stream was discussed mid-performance. Dame Caroline then asked: 'At what level were the decisions made to not stream Kneecap live and to stream Bob Vylan live, but with a warning on screen?' The letter asked if the BBC had a contingency plan for the event and who was responsible for forming and actioning the plan, before asking if the broadcaster would review its Editorial Guidelines and guidance for live output 'to ensure they are fit for live streaming'. The Tory MP added: 'In summary, what is your personal assessment of what went wrong and what (are the) key lessons that the BBC will take away from the experience of live streaming Glastonbury 2025?' Dame Caroline said she hoped for Mr Davie's response to the questions within two weeks. Kneecap's performance at Glastonbury is also set to be investigated (Yui Mok/PA) Avon and Somerset Police said it had launched a probe into both the Bob Vylan and Kneecap performances after reviewing video footage and audio recordings, with a senior detective appointed to lead the investigation. A force spokesman said: 'This has been recorded as a public order incident at this time while our inquiries are at an early stage. 'The investigation will be evidence-led and will closely consider all appropriate legislation, including relating to hate crimes.' In response to criticism of their performance on Tuesday, Bob Vylan said in a statement posted on Instagram that they were being 'targeted for speaking up' and that 'a good many people would have you believe a punk band is the number one threat to world peace.' The statement said: 'We are not for the death of Jews, Arabs or any other race or group of people. 'We are for the dismantling of a violent military machine. A machine whose own soldiers were told to use 'unnecessary lethal force' against innocent civilians waiting for aid. 'A machine that has destroyed much of Gaza.'
