Reese Witherspoon's snarky jab at Blake Lively over nude photos resurfaces in new viral video
Reese Witherspoon 's snarky jab at Blake Lively has resurfaced amid the mounting drama over Lively's legal war with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni.
In a now-viral clip, Witherspoon, 49, appears to reference Lively's 2011 nude photo scandal while taking the stage at that year's MTV Movie Awards.
Lively was also in attendance at the ceremony – which occurred just days after purported nude images of the Gossip Girl star, 37, were leaked online.
A rep for Lively insisted at the time that the grainy X-rated snaps were '100 percent fake' and that Lively had 'never taken nude photos of herself.'
But that didn't stop Witherspoon from seemingly throwing a thinly-veiled dig at Lively as she ranted about 'bad girls' in Hollywood during her MTV Generation Award acceptance speech.
'I get it, girls, that it's cool to be a bad girl. But it is possible to make it in Hollywood without doing a reality show,' the Legally Blonde star began.
'When I came up in this business, if you made a sex tape, you were embarrassed and you hid it under your bed.'
She then added: 'And if you took naked pictures of yourself on your cell phone, you hide your face, people.'
Viewers were convinced that Witherspoon was taking direct aim at Lively as well as Kim Kardashian, whose infamous 2007 sex tape had catapulted her to stardom.
But a spokesperson for Witherspoon attempted to shutdown the chatter by telling Us Weekly that the actress 'was absolutely not referencing Blake Lively' in her speech.
While they've never worked together, Lively and Witherspoon have been the subject of wild, unsubstantiated 'feud' rumors in recent years.
Last year, it was alleged by Life&Style that the duo were competing to produce their pop superstar pal Taylor Swift's directorial feature film debut, which was confirmed by Searchlight Pictures in 2022.
'Blake Lively and Reese Witherspoon both want this job and both of them have deep ties to Taylor,' a source told the tabloid.
While Swift is 'close personally to Blake,' Witherspoon is 'far more experienced at producing movies' and even collaborated with Swift on Where the Crawdads Sing (2022).
The resurfaced clip of Witherspoon at the MTV Movie Awards comes amid backlash over Lively's inclusion on the Time 100 list of the Most Influential People of 2025.
She was placed in the Titans section among heavyweights like tennis legend Serena Williams, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and podcast superstar Joe Rogan.
Lively was given the honor amid her war of lawsuits with Baldoni, who she accused of sexual harassment on set of the 2024 film It Ends With Us. She also accused the actor/director of launching a 'smear campaign' against her.
Baldoni, who has denied Lively's allegations, responded by launching a $400million defamation against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds and Lively's publicist Leslie Sloane.
Baldoni also filed a $250 million libel lawsuit against the New York Times for its reporting on Lively's claims. All parties have denied the allegations against them.
Lively and Reynolds are currently trying to get Baldoni's 'retaliatory' lawsuit thrown out.
Lively received a glowing tribute inside the magazine from civil rights attorney Sherrilyn Ifill, who was head of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund when Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds gave $1 million to the organization in 2019.
The donation came seven years after the Hollywood couple got married on a former slave plantation in South Carolina, a move that has repeatedly brought them in for fierce criticism and for which Reynolds subsequently apologized.
As news spread that Lively had been named to the vaunted Time list, she and the magazine were both furiously condemned on social media.
'You pretty screwed yourself @TIME adding Blake Lively for something she did in 2019 to save face from having her wedding at a plantation!' fumed one use of X, formerly known as Twitter. 'It is clear to everyone to get on these list you just have to pay a price! @TIME you have NO credibility!'
'The fact that Blake Lively made the Time 100 list is disgusting!' wrote another. 'She & Ryan Reynolds NEVER supported the black community before. Until it was known that they married on a slave plantation! How much did they pay for that article?'
'Seriously?????????? Lmao this is embarrassing and disgusting of you,' wrote a third as a fourth alleged: 'Mainstream pop culture media is totally bought and paid for.'
'How much is this costing her?' wondered another X user. 'Just pay Baldoni the 400 million already, in the Long run it will be cheaper.'
Meanwhile one observer put forward the theory that 'press agents lobby to get their clients on these type of lists. they mean nothing.'
'TIME is dead,' 'Wow,' 'Is this a joke?,' 'I wonder how much she paid for this write up?' and 'Blake babes pack it up,' were among the other reactions.
'I'm so tired of celebrities getting their way, especially when they deceive people and lie,' one X use groaned. 'I really hope karma gets her.'
'Welp that confirms those are paid appointments just like on the walk of fame,' alleged one as another asserted: 'TIME is now as irrelevant as she is.'
Lively was slated for being 'desperate,' as one social media user remarked: 'These PR stunts make me like her less…do they realize that?'
Another member of the public opined: 'Oh she's influential alright-esp when it comes to maliciously destroying an innocent man's career. Takes a true narcissist to do that -Karma is coming for her.'
Meanwhile Lively shrugged off her controversies and issued a statement saying: 'It's an honor to be acknowledged on the @time 100 list for 2025.'
The Gossip Girl star said 'to be written about by the great Sherrilyn Ifill was not something' she takes lightly.
'Her work has shaped our nation,' Lively said. 'WHO SHE IS - as a human, woman, mother, leader, fighter, healer, empath, risk taker and dream maker - has shaped my heart and also my stamina to never stop believing in a future that's better and safer for everyone.
'Thank you. And thank you for one of the most surreal and meaningful moments of my life in this honor. My 10 year old self is pretty blown away right now.'
In her testimonial, Ifill hailed Lively as a 'philanthropist' and a 'serious person' who was 'committed to move this country forward.'
'I don't know the Blake Lively of the red carpet. Or the Met Gala. I never watched Gossip Girl,' wrote Ifill. 'The Blake Lively I know is a philanthropist and a student of our country's most intractable problems. She and her husband Ryan Reynolds reached out in 2019 to make a contribution to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.'
Ifill, who served as president and director-counsel of the organization from 2012 to 2022, wrote: 'I had been getting a few of these calls, as our work fighting against voter suppression and police brutality was receiving national attention.'
She noted: 'I'm always curious about the kind of research famous people do before they make that cold call to offer their support. The ones I have remained in relationship with are those who, like Blake, really did their homework.'
Ifill wrote that she 'admired immediately her curiosity, and her sincere work to understand the conditions that shape this country.
'I remember an early conversation in which she expressed frustration that so much of our nation's history was not part of the instruction she had received as a student.'
She added that Lively's 'commitment to filling those gaps—and becoming the most fully informed and prepared citizen - is what I appreciate most about her. Blake is a serious person. She's a risk taker. And she's committed to moving this country forward. For her children. And for mine.'
Dailymail.com has reached out to Ifill for further comment on her endorsement of Lively amid the ongoing litigation, which has made headlines throughout 2025.
Lively subsequent took to Instagram Stories last Wednesday with comments about how deeply she was honored with her inclusion on the exclusive list.
'I'm able to see this moment, almost looking back from the future, or looking ahead from childhood,' she said, 'and from every time period I can see how profound this is to me. Not just to be included, but to have a voice.'
Lively continued, 'It's a fortunate thing, when it should be a given. So thank you to time and to each of you who uplift the many who live boldly, even when it's scary.'

JoJo Siwa shares poignant 'self-reflection' post as she addresses her sexuality
Celebrity Big Brother star JoJo Siwa has used the start of Pride Month to share a personal reflection on identity, love, and self-acceptance JoJo Siwa opened Pride Month 2025 with a heartfelt post to her followers, offering a message of love and self-acceptance amid her new romance with Chris Hughes. 'Happy day 1 of the happiest month,' the 22-year-old wrote on Instagram Stories. 'What I have learned over the last 22 years is that pride is all about love, acceptance and celebration. No matter who you are or what you are, you are you, you are beautiful, and you are perfect. Everyone's story is different and everyone's journey is different.' Calling love 'just love,' Siwa praised its simplicity and added: 'Happy pride to the beautiful LGBTQIA+ community, to the allies, and to all that exist :).' Earlier this year, the former child star made headlines when she began dating Celebrity Big Brother UK co-star Chris, 32. During the show's 24th season, she shared a personal revelation: 'I've always told myself I'm a lesbian, but I think being here, I've realised: 'Oh no, I'm not a lesbian, I'm queer.' I think that's really cool. I'm switching letters.' She later told Us Weekly she hadn't expected that moment to air: 'That was one of those conversations actually that I was having that I was like, 'This will never see the light of day.' I don't mind that it did, because I actually think it starts a very beautiful conversation of queer. I think queer joy is so special and so magical.' Explaining her evolving understanding of identity, Siwa said she's no longer interested in strict labels: 'Queer is a beautiful umbrella term for the LGBTQIA community. I think that for me to be a woman and say I have a non-binary partner, but then also say I'm a lesbian is crazy. I just realized within myself that the way my eyes are to the world, I think I'm just queer. "It has nothing to do with anything besides that. It's nothing to be ashamed of. The world is going crazy with that one though. It flabbergasts me.' Prior to her relationship with Hughes, Siwa briefly dated Australian creator Kath Ebbs, who is non-binary. Their split reportedly happened during the Big Brother wrap party in April. Siwa has also been outspoken about the discomfort she feels with certain language. After telling Yahoo! Life in 2022 that she 'doesn't like the word 'lesbian,'' she clarified on TikTok: 'I never said that 'lesbian' was a dirty word. It's not a bad word, it's not a slur, it's especially not a word that I am ashamed of saying or ashamed of identifying as by any means.' In that interview, she compared the term to words people find unappealing simply by sound: 'I don't like the word itself. It's just like a lot... It's like the word moist. It's just like… ugh!' She added on TikTok, 'I don't hate the word lesbian… it's not the word that flows off the tongue for me, if that makes sense.'

State of Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's friendship after subpoena was withdrawn
Taylor Swift is 'feeling an immense sense of relief' after her subpoena in the Blake Lively legal mess was dropped— but that doesn't mean the former besties are patching things up. The pop superstar was dragged into the feud between Lively and It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni when a legal letter filed earlier this month by Baldoni's lawyers alleged that Lively had attempted to 'coerce' Swift to issue a public statement in support of her and urged her to delete text messages between them. The court filing claimed Lively's lawyer, Michael Gottlieb, had contacted Swift's attorney and demanded 'that Ms. Swift release a statement of support for Ms. Lively, intimating that, if Ms. Swift refused to do so, private text messages of a personal nature in Ms. Lively's possession would be released'. Lively's lawyers later filed a motion asking the court to strike the accusations from its docket as 'baseless, unnecessary, improper and abusive,' and Lively's motion to dismiss Baldoni's letter was granted. Now, a source told Us Weekly that while Swift isn't publicly addressing the case, 'There's been radio silence between Taylor and Blake since the subpoena was dropped,' adding that their once-close friendship has 'stalled.' have reached out to reps for Swift and Lively for comment. According to the source, the 'legal tension' between the former besties has created noticeable 'distance' in their relationship. 'They won't pick up where they left off because of all the emotional residue,' the insider explained. Swift has privately expressed that the past few weeks have been 'stressful,' and she now appears 'happier and lighter' since the legal pressure eased, the source added. She's made it 'very clear she is feeling an immense sense of relief.' 'Taylor has handled it with a lot of grace and is not solely focused on it,' the insider continued. 'She's moved on.' The Us Weekly report comes comes not long after a source exclusively told that the singer 'is done' with Lively due to feeling like she had been 'exploited.' Earlier this month, the singer was officially subpoenaed in Lively's lawsuit when she was sent a legal notice by Baldoni's lawyer Bryan Freedman as a witness. Swift's team slammed the subpoena as they argued that she was not very involved in the drama on set of 2024 film It Ends With Us. A rep for Taylor gave a blistering response to which read: 'Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film... 'She never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.' The rep noted that the only involvement Taylor had in the film was the use of one of her tracks titled My Tears Ricochet which was off of her 2020 album Folklore. The statement concluded: 'Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift's name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.' However, Justin's team soon withdrew the subpoena and a source exclusively told why his attorney did so by stating: 'They got exactly what they were seeking.' Swift made a big announcement on Friday - and revealed that she is now the owner of her entire music catalog. The buy-back deal has been reported to be worth 'between $600million-$1billion' - although sources claimed to MailOnline that number is 'highly inaccurate.' A separate insider informed Billboard that the Grammy winner had purchased back the rights to her music for around $360 million. Her boyfriend Travis Kelce offered subtle support for the songstress who teased the news on Instagram - and the NFL player notably liked the post. The couple - who were first romantically linked in 2023 - were recently spotted on a date night at Harry's Bar & Restaurant in West Palm Beach. A source told People that Swift whisked herself away to Florida to 'support and spend time' with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. 'Travis was working on Friday before his dinner date with Taylor. He left early to go meet her.' Lively has also been seen hanging out with new A-list pals, and stepped out for dinner in NYC earlier this month with fellow actress Salma Hayek. Blake and Justin's ongoing lawsuit began when she sued him for sexual assault late last year in December. Baldoni responded by filing a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, and is also suing the New York Times for $250 million. All of the parties deny the allegations against them. The legal battle is scheduled to go to court next year in March 2026.
