Five-star recruit sends clear message to Deion Sanders after Colorado visit
Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are in the running for one of the top players in the 2026 recruiting class.
Five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan visited Colorado last weekend and was in awe of the atmosphere in Boulder. He recapped the weekend with Coach Prime and his staff, telling On3's Steve Wiltfong the Buffs have a "Great shot" to land him.

"Talking to Cederian Morgan after his visit on Sunday, he said 'They got a great shot. This is my first time being there. I really enjoyed it,'" Wilting said. 'He had a great time at Colorado this weekend.'
At 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, the Alexander City (Alabama) product would be one of the highest-ranked receivers in CU history. Morgan is ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver in the class of 2026, according to 247Sports. He's also a tri-sport athlete with football, track, and basketball as part of his background.
Morgan finished junior season with 70 catches for 1,162 yards and 14 TD. He helped Benjamin Russell HS make the first round of the Alabama state playoffs in 2024. His scouting report by 247Sports Gabe Brooks is very telling of his future.

"Evaluation echoes that of a luxury sports car: big, smooth, and powerful," Brooks wrote. "Plays with obvious horsepower, accompanied by some encouraging physical refinement and nuance in regards to fluidity and locomotion. Dominant in contested scenarios as a consistent high pointer who exploits significant physical advantages vs. smaller defenders. Owns an enormous catch radius that gives a QB a large target throughout the route tree. Immensely productive with huge receiving numbers and even some limited defensive reps.

Size and track speed suggests that another top-end gear in pads exists, and therefore consistent downfield separation ability. Shows encouraging short-to-intermediate route snap and leveraging ability, especially considering size. Uniquely gifted pass-catching target with outstanding physical tools and athletic chops. Projects as a high-major impact player with traits that suggest long-term NFL Draft high-round potential."
Morgan is between Colorado, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Georgia. He would give the Buffs an immediate boost in next year's class and a top target for Julian Lewis.

'I think every game we've played since we've been there has been basically cut-throat,' Vitello said. 'I know it's double elimination format once you get to the regional. Different type of format going to Hoover this year, and we've had some good appearances or runs in Hoover, but we've also had a couple times, whether it went good or bad, the first day wasn't great. Our guys were tremendous against Alabama right out of the chute, and then the Texas game. I haven't rewatched it, but I'm going to wait and we'll rewatch the whole regular broadcast, not just our scouting report one, because it was an ESPN classic. I don't see how that one didn't help both teams in some way, shape or form, or at least I can say that it helped ours. Didn't go the way we wanted in game three, and then, you know, we go to the regional, but all those scenarios, whether they were positive or negative on the scoreboard, were great for our team. Jase Richardson and his dad Jason Richardson -- also a former Michigan State basketball star -- were on Podcast P with Paul George earlier this week, and Jason shared a fun story of how Jase ended up at Michigan State like his father. According to Jason, it appeared Alabama was the leader to land Jase's commitment but an upcoming visit to Michigan State was planned during the Spartans' annual "Grind Week" event -- which brings together former Michigan State players, current players and recruits for a weekend of festivities. Jason said during the interview that he told the Alabama coaching staff that if they let Jase visit Michigan State during "Grind Week" that he'd end up a Spartan. Alabama apparently tried to get Jase to shift his visit schedule knowing the magnitude of what Jason said, but it was too late. Jase went on his visit to Michigan State during "Grind Week" and the rest is now history. "Grind Week" has always been a fun and impactful event for the program and this is just another use case where that occurred. Twin sister of Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell dead at 18, police say
Kierston Russell, the twin sister of University of Alabama freshman quarterback Keelon Russell, has died just days after the siblings graduated from high school, police confirmed in a statement on Thursday. She was 18. The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office confirmed Kierston's passing in a statement, adding that the investigation into her death is "ongoing." "There has been considerable media attention concerning a death investigation that occurred (in Tuscaloosa) on June 4, 2025," Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit said in a statement obtained by Tuscaloosa News. "After speaking with the family, and in an attempt to quell media inquiries, they have given permission to confirm the death of Kierston Russell... The investigation is ongoing pursuant to the procedures mentioned above, and at this time appears to be non-criminal in nature. Therefore, at this time no other information will be released." Kierston played basketball at Duncanville High School in Texas. According to ESPN, she was due to join her brother at Alabama in August. The twins graduated last month. Keelon, a five-star recruit who enrolled early and attended Alabama's spring training, shared photos of the two together and shared a prayer to his Instagram Stories on Thursday. "Dear god, Thank You that every good and pleasant gift is from above. You are the source of every blessing in my life-my health, my work, my relationships, and the strength to face each day. Even my ability to work and create comes from You. I acknowledge that all I have is a gift from Your generous hand," he post read. "As James 1:17 says, 'Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.' You are faithful, and I am grateful." Kierston's basketball team also shared a statement on X following the news of her death. "With shattered hearts, we mourn the loss of our sister & teammate, Kierston Russell. A fierce competitor with a heart of gold – her light, love & legacy will live on. We love you, KRuss. Always."
