Keralite nuns' arrest: KPCC takes out protest march to Raj Bhavan
Addressing a march organised by the KPCC to Raj Bhavan on Wednesday to protest against the arrest and the unconstitutional actions of the BJP administration in Chhattisgarh, Mr. Joseph pointed out that the Chhattisgarh government had foisted false charges against the nuns and had manipulated the first information report (FIR) by adding non-existent legal clauses, thus denying them bail.
He said that the BJP was challenging the rule of law and it was shameful that the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh was justifying its action against the nuns, which was a violation of the civil rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
Inaugurating the march, the Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan said the Kerala Chief Minister should not waste any time in informing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister the State's strong protest against the unfounded action against the nuns .
He said the Chhattisgarh government had been unfair in imprisoning the nuns who were engaged in humanitarian work. The Sangh Parivar's hallmark was intolerance. Instigating people and communities to fight against each other over religious freedom and rights was how the BJP was playing the people of Kerala, Mr. Satheesan said.

He said the incident in Chhattisgarh was a stark example of the fate that awaited the minorities and the marginalised wherever the Congress was out of power The incident has tarnished the nation's secular image on the international front, he pointed out.
Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala spoke about the anxiety and insecurities faced by the religious minorities in the country today. The arrest of the nuns who were engaged in humanitarian activities amongst the poor and marginalised in Chhattisgarh was a joint attempt by the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to unleash a communal riot, he said.
Mr. Modi, who makes a song and dance about greeting Christians on the occasion of Christmas, has been silent about the atrocities that were being committed against the Christians by the BJP's feeder organisations, Mr. Chennithala added.

Silent protest held in Belagavi demanding release of arrested Kerala nuns
Belagavi: Hundreds of Christians gathered in Belagavi on Friday evening to stage a silent protest rally, demanding the immediate release of two Kerala-based Catholic nuns and a tribal youth, who were recently arrested in Chhattisgarh under controversial circumstances. Organised by the Catholic Association of Belgaum and other Christian organisations, the rally was led by Bishop Rev Dr Derek Fernandes. Around 400 participants, including priests, nuns, seminarians, and laypersons, assembled at the DC Compound at 4.40pm. The peaceful march concluded at the zilla panchayat CEO's office, where a memorandum addressed to the president of India, the prime minister, and the chief minister of Karnataka was submitted to deputy commissioner Mohammed Roshan. The memorandum highlighted the wrongful arrest of the nuns and the youth at Durg Railway Station on July 25 under Section 143 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4 of the Chhattisgarh Religious Freedom Act (1968), which pertains to religious conversion through force or inducement. They were accompanying three adult tribal women, aged 18–19, from Narayanpur to Agra for nursing jobs. First unit of Yadadri Thermal Power Plant dedicated
Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced that the entire 4,000 MW Yadadri Thermal Power Plant (YTPP) would be dedicated to the nation in Jan 2026. Of the total 4,000 MW, the deputy chief minister dedicated the first unit of 800 MW of the thermal power plant on Friday and termed it as a milestone in meeting the energy needs of the state. Vikramarka said the plant construction got delayed by two years and the project cost escalated due to delays in getting environmental clearances during the BRS govt and the Congress, after coming to power, secured all the required clearances within two months after coming to power. The power plant unit was commissioned by the deputy CM along with other ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Adluri Laxman Kumar on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the deputy CM said monthly and weekly targets were set for the project's progress and two units with a combined capacity of 1,600 MW have already been dedicated to the nation. He announced plans for world-class educational institutions and corporate-level healthcare in the township.
