Daily Mail5 days ago
Selena Gomez kicked off her 33nd birthday celebrations in style — and she wasn't alone.
Her longtime best friend and pop powerhouse Taylor Swift was right by her side as the Only Murders in the Building star rang in another trip around the sun with her closest pals.
In one image, uploaded to Gomez's Instagram, the stars were pictured sitting in what appeared to be a ball pit as the birthday girl playfully reached toward the camera.
Dressed in a sequined silver jumpsuit, the singer and actress looked radiant as she posed with Swift, who sported her signature red lip and a black minidress.
Although the Sunset Blvd hitmaker did not disclose any party details, the gathering appeared to have a 70s disco theme and be held at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
In an early birthday celebration (her actual birthday lands later this week), Gomez shared a glowing Instagram post reflecting on what she called 'the most beautiful year of my life.'
'As I prepare to celebrate my 33rd birthday, I can't help but reflect on the incredible journey that has brought me here,' Gomez wrote in her caption. 'This past year has truly been the most beautiful year of my life, and I owe so much of that to all of you.'
Gomez continued, thanking her followers for their support through 'highs and lows' and promising to carry that love into her next chapter.
The Cruel Summer hitmaker wasn't the only VIP in the room — Gomez's fiancé, music producer Benny Blanco, was also in attendance.
The couple shared sweet moments throughout the night, including a passionate kiss caught on camera that had fans swooning.
In another image, taken on the dance floor, the pair looked happier than ever as they wrapped their arms around each other and swayed to the music.
Fellow singer and former Disney star Sofia Carson, 32, was also in attendance to help Gomez ring in her birthday with her loved ones.
While the bash served as an early celebration — it was a clear reflection of the support system and creative energy surrounding her.
The past few years have marked a major turning point for Gomez both personally and professionally.
In late 2023, she confirmed her relationship with Blanco, and in late 2024, the couple announced their engagement.
The two also collaborated on a surprise joint album that gave the world a personal glimpse into their relationship.

Michael Jordan's son reveals he reconnected with his dad after nearly breaking over 100 days of sobriety

Marcus Jordan has revealed the deaths of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan and actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner prompted him to reconnect with his dad this week after he nearly broke 107 days of sobriety. The troubled son of NBA great Michael Jordan, who sought help for alcohol and drug abuse earlier this year after his arrest for DUI and cocaine possession, was left devastated by the passing of two icons of his childhood, he said on Instagram. Hogan died at the age of 71 on Thursday following a cardiac arrest at his home in Florida, three days after Warner, 54, tragically lost his life after drowning while on vacation in Costa Rica. 'Went THRU IT yesterday, realizing that 2 icons of my childhood passed this week,' Marcus, 34, wrote on his Instagram story. 'Reached out to both my parents & my siblings, cuz life is short and it's important to spend time with the people you love'. Marcus has not been spotted publicly with legendary father Michael since they watched the Super Bowl together in February 2024, though it is unclear if they have been estranged since then. Marcus says the deaths of Hulk Hogan and Malcolm-Jamal Warner prompted him to reach out The six-time NBA champion did not approve of his son's relationship with Larsa Pippen, the ex-wife of his former Chicago Bulls teammate Scottie Pippen who is 16 years his senior, a video obtained by revealed in 2023. That on-off romance did not last long, however, with Marcus and Larsa going their separate ways for good last year before MJ's son sparked concern with his wild partying and drug use in public. Back in March Marcus announced that he was 40 days sober after seeking help for his drink and drug problems, and he admits his current stretch of over 100 days almost came to an end following the news of Hogan and Warner's deaths. 'Caught a SERIOUS case of the "fck it's" & almost had a drink... It was disheartening realizing how the "fun" has been stripped from social media,' he continued in his Instagram message. 'It used to be 'OK' to be weird and have opinions on social media, to learn from mistakes publicly. Now it's been so normalized to 'fit' a certain mold or into society 2? 'And people wonder why MFs keep their thoughts to themselves these days... It shouldn't have to be that way. And luckily for me, I have plenty of friends and family who raised me right & love me? But my heart breaks for the people that aren't as fortunate'. Marcus ended the post by proudly confirming: '107 Days Sober & Counting'. He also shared a series of photos and videos of both Warner and Hogan to confirm they were the 'two icons' he was referencing. Larsa, who is a star on The Real Housewives of Miami, opened up on their split during the show's season seven premiere last month. Looking back on her on-and-off involvement with Marcus, the 50-year-old revealed her four children gave her the strength to finally call it quits with him last year. 'When I was with Marcus, my kids were like, "Stop getting back together and breaking up, and just get off the ride." That's when I was like, I need to get away from the situation — my kids think that it's not good for me,' she shared during a conversation with her mom. 'We went from really being in love, getting along, to me seeing a side of him that didn't really align with who I am as a person,' she added. 'When we would go out, he would like to be the very last person in the club. Like, I mean, there's no one there but the janitors.'

Cheryl Burke celebrates seven years of sobriety as she recalls using alcohol to 'numb' the pain in powerful post

Cheryl Burke is celebrating seven years of sobriety. The Dancing With The Stars pro, 41, marked the milestone with a powerful post about quitting alcohol on Thursday. In her candid message, Cheryl said she initially believed drinking provided her with 'confidence' - until one day she was unable to recognize her own reflection. The post contained various photos from her past when she did indulge in alcohol - before she gave it up for a life of 'peace', 'power', and more. '7 years ago, I thought sobriety would mean losing everything. The fun. The freedom. The fearless version of me I thought only showed up after a drink,' she wrote in the Instagram caption. 'But what I didn't realize back then… Was that the escape I craved was really from myself. And the girl I ran from? She was the one waiting to save me. The post contained various photos from her old life of drinking 'I used to believe alcohol gave me confidence, connection, and control. Turns out, it stole those things quietly — day by day — until I couldn't recognize my own reflection. 'Today, I no longer chase chaos dressed as fun. I no longer tolerate connections that require me to abandon myself. And I no longer mistake numbness for peace. 'What I thought I'd miss in sobriety? Was never real to begin with. I've gained… Presence. Peace. Self-respect. 'And a relationship with my Higher Power that reminds me I was never walking alone — not even in my darkest moments. 'God didn't take the pain away… He held my hand through it and gave me the strength to rise. 'If you're reading this and wondering if it's possible — I promise you, it is. There's a whole world on the other side of rock bottom. And it's so much more beautiful than I ever imagined. 'Here's to 7 years sober. Here's to choosing clarity, wholeness, and me. One day, one hour, one minute at a time.' In the photos, Cheryl delved further into her decision to cut out alcohol completely, saying she believed it would 'numb everything - the pain, the pressure, the pretending.' 'Addiction wasn't freedom. It was a cage dressed up like a good time,' she also noted, before assuring those struggling that it sobriety indeed a 'beautiful' thing. Cheryl became sober in 2018, during her engagement to her now ex-husband Matthew Lawrence. 'It was just a decision that I made for myself,' she previously said on the Lady Gang podcast, explaining she realized she was 'done' with drinking during their engagement party. Cheryl also described how her late father, who also struggled with alcoholism, factored into her decision to quit drinking. The dancer's father Stephen Louis Burke died shortly before she announced her engagement to Matt. 'My dad was an alcoholic,' she said. 'So either I was gonna crash and burn and check myself into rehab or I was gonna just quit cold turkey.' She expanded on this in a 2020 interview with Extra, saying: 'My father had passed away during that time... It was almost like a promise to myself. I was also getting engaged, I was engaged, sorry, and I was about to get me, my dad was a former alcoholic, so it was either, I was going to crash and burn, or I was going to stop cold turkey.' 'It became, like, an everyday thing, me drinking. It was like I needed to show myself, I guess, that this was not something that I depended on, especially after my dad's passing. 'It wasn't a hard thing for me to do, also my body just wasn't reacting well to it at all... 'Probably more like a subconscious thing than anything else.'
